    सुझाव
    - desalination plants
    - implement irrigation techniques to irrigate crops.
    - cultivate less water consuming crops.
    - judicious usage of water, at the level of authority as well as common citizens.
    - politics should be sidelined in these sensitive issues.
    - compromises are always there.
    This issue is not just belong to some states, this is ours because near future no one will be unaffected by water scarcity.

    Very well summarised. The following are my suggestions to help mitigate the problem:
    1. There should be additional reservoirs in Cauvery Delta to ensure that water does not go into sea in excess years.
    2. Mekadatu Balancing reservoir is essential for Karnataka to meet the monthly stipulations. If Tamilnadu objects, it should take the responsibility to store excess water released in earlier years and adjust it cumulatively, towards release from Karnataka.
    3. The accounting year should be changed to 1st April to 31st March, given the early rains due to climate change.
    4. Distress Sharing: Whenever, Southwest Monsoon fails, the decrease in release to Tamilnadu should be calculated as if both Tamilnadu and Karnataka get their precipitation normally during Northeast Monsoon. Later, after Northeast monsoon, further release if any by Karnataka,based on actuals, should be decided.
    5. Godavari releases a lot of excess water, some times in thousands of TMC per year. The water from Godavari be diverted to Srisailam reservoir and futher to Cauvery. It would help on the way Telangana, Rayalaseema and Tamilnadu. It should nbe implemented as a natural river linking project.

  • @vishwajeetreddy3559
    @vishwajeetreddy3559 Год назад +61

    People of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu are like brothers. I know this kind of sharing problems is common between brothers. Why can’t the govts start thinking of the alternative water sources? Why can’t they construct more reservoirs and dams? Fights and protests are not the solution for any problem. South has only 5 states and 1 union territory. We should be together and strong so make our demands clear in front of the centre.

      If one tries to build the dam other goes to supreme court and stops it. For example
    If Karnataka having 100rs then tamilnadu asking equal share KA give 50rs to TN.
    Whereas If KA has only 60rs then TN asks equal share of 30rs but KA only accepts to give 10rs.
    KA saying we can only give you the rest. So, 60-50= 10.
    TN saying 50:10 is not an equal share, we Demand equal share.

    3. The accounting be shifted to 1st April to 31st March, given the early rains due to climate change.

    Since the demand is more than the supply required the Karnataka government has proposed a check dam at mekadatu many years ago to Tamil Nadu as that can hold excess water whenever there is excess rainfall year instead of allowing the water to flow into the bay of Bengal and this water could be used during distress years by both states judiciously but TN has not given the noc for this project as they expect Karnataka to give them water whether we can supply it or not and the order to continue the supply of water by the cauvery tribunal too is a joke as more importance should be given to drinking water over supplying water for agriculture and this is the formula that is used all countries across the world but our tribunal gives a damn to water supply for Bangalore city. • @k-map224
      @k-map224 Год назад +3

      @@samuelgeorge3823 Karnataka cannot take all the water itself as the SC has already passed a judgement on how much water needs to be shared to all states. It is better than just wasting all the water going to the sea. Why doesn't your government build desalination plants and ask your farmers to grow only one crop per season like how farmer's in Karnataka do. Do not expect Karnataka to bear all the responsibility as cauvery is not a perennial but seasonal river that depends on rainfall. Let go of your egos and chauvinism and come sit on the table to discuss mutually on the steps to be taken as going forward rainfall in the cauvery basin is going to decrease due to global warming issues so we need to come up with sustainable steps like growing more trees in the cauvery basin, build desalination and check dams. We can learn from Israel that went from a barren land to being fully self sustainable with water now and has the highest yield per acre for any country in agriculture.

    The main and undeniable problem I'd say is the presence of two biggest cities : Bengaluru and Mysore. Since we kmow there is no enough rainfall to fill the river and due to the excessive consumption of river water by these cities, farmers of Karnataka who're depending this river for their agriculture are facing water scarcity and hence the entire districts and notably the farmers of Tamilnadu, are depending on this river water. Also, I knew Tamilnadu East coastal district ppl waste the river water by sending the water all the way upto the sea. So I guess we should resolve the agricultural methods first like how to use water, which irrigation could be suitable for the specific crops etc.
