- I finally get to give you a tour of the new workshop. It's where all of my spare time has been going for the last few months(not that there has been very much).
Bonus - Building the GIANT sound panels up on my second channel - • GIANT Sound Panels for...
Music is by Karl Casey (White Bat Audio) - Go give a sub if you like the music here - / whitebataudio
I share a lot of behind the scenes, and project related things on my twitter! twitter.com/idlehandsdev - Also I put my first video up on a second channel, building the Giant Sound Panels for my Workshop - ruclips.net/video/4YrCXkgmAe8/видео.html
love your videos bro 👏👏👏
It's like an indie film maker and an engineer got mixed together and we got you out of it.
I love your videos!
Cooked up a fresh batch of indie engineering. Thanks!
Bomb-proof desk, eh? I like where this is headed...
How am I just finding this channel. This is fantastic.
man, can't say how much I love your style of videos, just the right amount of artsy touch and the music and cuts are always spot on.. big up!
also, I'm calling it now, its a CNC mill or a lathe
Thanks! You may or may not be correct. 😁
I approve of your piles of stuff.
You would! 😁
God I'm envious of your setup, looking forward to seeing more videos tho. Amazing cinematography and vibe as usual, keep up the excelent work!
Thanks! One day I hope the workshop itself isn't a project in itself. haha
It's been six months, I think you're coming up with damn big and craziest project. Can't wait to see....
You are spot on, this is my dream workshop.
I want one! 👏🏽✊🏽🙏🏽
You're welcome to use mine any time you want!
3:22 - Redundant UPSes? That's a lotta capacity!
The guy had two for a great deal, replaced both sets of batteries. I’m thinking I’ll connect my 3D printers to one and not lose any long prints over power issues.
@@SeanHodgins That's awesome! I'm running a much older APC model, and it's still going strong with a fresh set of batteries.
The cinematographic value of this video is... just... it's too good! I got hyped like in the old days when watching first Iron Man or The Matrix. This is so ridiculously good! And on top of that everything is peppered with awesome music. I can't even.
The music really makes it, Karl Casey is a beast!
love your style of producing videos. big support
Awesome as usual.
you're genuinely an inspiration..
You should definitely make a full length film! I’d pre-order right now (on VHS of course)!
I’ve been considering trying to make longer, slower moving videos. Need to come up with a story first!
As always great video!
ooooooh just think of all the cool projects you could make in here!
I have a huge list, getting to them is the problem... haha
Bro you’re serious about this channel aren’t you?
Dead serious.
It's been so long, glad you are back!
Gotta keep up the momentum this time!
No one can beat you in scripting
every video is like a movie my man needs more attention
Amazing man !!! excellent work (from France !)
Hello to all the people of France!
Looks deadly man enjoy , like the sound deadening set up 👏
It works pretty well! Still more things to bring over that should also diffuse the sound a bit.
@@SeanHodgins for sure man , look forward to future vids 🍻
hope to see more project
Very nice!
Thanks!
how are you paying for all this stuff ? how would someone basically build their own dexters lab.. "cough cough" I mean shop like you (thinking about cost feasibility) ?... asking for a friend
If you’re self employed, what worked for me was, work out of your home for many years, don’t really see your friends or do anything that costs money. Be willing to reinvest any savings into your workshop/tools. Also be aware that luck plays a lot into it. And my work is building things for other people, so this workshop is my place of business.
Great to see more Sean Hodgens videos as always. Cinematography is always top notch.
Thank yo!
Congrats on the new-old cnc lathe! I can't quite make out the brand because a bunch kinda merged into a conglomerate for me, but something like mori seiki, okuma, or that sorts.
If you need a hand getting programs on and off of the machine, reach out!
Your channel has such a cool aesthetic man. Excited to see what comes next
God damn ive been low key trying to make a robot voice like that for ages. Needs a deeper pitch for me..
Do you do any work outside of your RUclips channel that you are gona be using the workshop for?
I work with Mark Rober on some stuff, electronics and what not. But I want to develop my own fun gadgets eventually
Just find out your channel,
I love makers' videos like Laura Kampf, Micheal Alm or I Like To Make Stuff and retro futuristic vibes like GxAce, you made a dream I didn't know I had come true 😄
is the shop for business or just for fun?
Business, no fun around here 😆
An old Harrison. Sweet! Whenever I need to be pushed back into my retrofuture bubble I come back here and it's always so good. People call us escapists. There's no reason we can't be functional whilst simultaneously living inside and directing our own personal 1980s movie. I have a question: Does your electric supplier supply 600 volt three phase? We only had the option of 480 volt. I built my own service and system, from the weather head to every single machine. It was only 200 AMP. Equipment for a larger three phase service was infinitely more expensive.
Congrats on the new shop, it looks great!!
Thank you!
Gotta love a square body suburban.
Its part of the family
Sector 7-G! Good god, who’s the safety inspector there???
😂
Dude, don't scrub the machines with a brush :P Use a steamer! It'd make quick work of any grease and dirt.
Haha, it’s honestly so caked on it’s part of the machine now. But I’ve been meaning to pickup a steamer! Got any recommendations?
@@SeanHodgins I recently got a second hand Karcher SC1 because someone locally was selling one. Snagged it for £90. It seems well built and did a great job on a very heavily used motorbike, which also had grime as a structural part. Everything comes off quick, it saves me a lot of time when restoring old items. Quite like it.
Was excited to see a new video then realized it was just a shop tour... Hopefully we get more than 1 every 6 months now!
I am addicted to your videos! It would be a pleasure to work with you on your projects
What kind of project would you want to work on?
@@SeanHodginsHey Sean! I am an Italian biomedical engineer, right now I'm working on a new mechanical ventilator for my master degree thesis. It would be interesting to work on something "biomedical" related..
you, elon musk and hacksmith are my unity heroes, and will change our world for the better.
Nice looking shop mate! Hope those neighbors don't make too much noise!
Dear Sean, any possibility of an in person tour of the shop? I'll even help do somethin'
Is the hex in the title a unix timestamp of the video recording day?
Dude you're so cool man! Subscribed!
I'm guessing it's probably an Okuma LB (something small) lathe.
Not an Okuma. ;)
It's a dream shop for many. And you're an inspiration. Hope to see your projects soon!
Was a dream for me as well. I honestly didn't think I would get to this point.
Hey Sean! Any new projects in program?
I work in sector 7G and your Jarvis lied, it is not safe at all.
@0:15 whoever did your electrical.. fire them immediately. later in the video there were 4" square boxes with raised covers for 2 duplex receptacles .. that was correct, sorry man, I got issues with bad electrical.
Haha the ones you see at 0:15 were there already when I moved in. The 4" boxes are what I installed.
a friend showed me your volumetric holographic sight video and ever since I have been hooked. Im looking forward to seeing more cinematic making videos, I love the relatable bits especially. Love from the netherlands!
Tell your friend thanks! Definitely more to come. Hello to everyone in the Netherlands!
Oh my gosh the Volvo !! Lol love it. Great vid!
I love the mixture of fancy and simple video (dipping in and out of a mysterious storyline)! Awesome shop!
its been a while Sean👍
Great videos! Love it!
I'll bet you have a backlog of creative ideas to build and dramatize. Let 'er rip.
Huge backlog! Time is my most valuable commodity.
So much extra space for activities!
So much!
This makes me go whoa!
Classy as always!! And totally jelly about the space!!!!
Thanks, I wish I had your organization skills!
This is so cool 😎
Amazing
hackerman
Hah, nice to see another Hand Tool Rescue fan! :D
No one has mentioned that yet! haha
0x62628024 i dont get this? any decoding significance?
I think it's the upload unix timestamp in hex (0x62628024 → 1650622500 → Fri Apr 22 2022 10:15:00 GMT). Sean is this it?
Good work! It helps me track any... discrepancies. 😉
Love the setup, I am really happy to see the next episodes! :)
Nice mat black finish ⚫
I used to do light paints/objects thinking it would improve the lighting of the scenes. I have since learned better.
Awesome video! Beautiful shop. the combination of your personality and knowledge is so cool 👍
Thanks man!
Not sure how much it's intentional, but you might need more light in the shop. Otherwise, it's looking great! What an exciting upgrade.
Sort of intentional, the mood lighting is pretty dim, but the giant panel LEDs are bright. I just have them off when filming certain things.
Extreme lighting is overrated. It can give people migraines. The company I worked for for twelve years switched to high intensity fluorescents, then LEDs. My old machine shop was 100% lit for mood. In the right mood I am very productive. Bright lights made me angry at work. You can guess what it did to my productivity...
dark, image is about 2 stops too short ... it's pretty dark
It always ends up being a little darker than I want, the brightness on my camera LCD tricks me constantly.
Awesome place, can’t wait to see what you cook up in it. That ending was awesome with the sudden jump back to the Mr Robot vibes :)
I hope to meet this Mr. Robot character some day
