Whatever happened to that $250,000 trust fund that her grandmother set up for her in season 1? Lol. So technically she does have a trust fund out there somewhere. This was one scene I actually applauded Logan for giving Rory the cold-hard truth and as always, I rolled my eyes at her reaction to getting some reality thrown in her face.
Ciba Zyx I thought she set it up for Rory to receive when she turns 25 but was going to let Rory have access to it at the time to help pay for Chilton. Then she changed her mind about letting her have access to it that early because of Lorelei and Emily bickering.
@@TM-lp9jv I didn't see this earlier. I believe there was no trust fund at all. Because of the bickering between the mother (Emily) and Lorelai. Emily didn't want it to happen 'cause she was afraid that if they are no longer paying for Chilton, Lorelai wouldn't abide by the Friday night dinners. I could be wrong, but that's how I remember it. In any case, she's not a trust fund kid, but of course she'll probably get something when her grandparents pass away since she's the only grandkid. This scene is important 'cause they are both big enough to admit when they make mistakes as evidenced by the next scene/episode. She was wrong to criticize and later she admitted it. Logan also accepted his mistake in being too harsh with the words he used. One can show anger in a much better manner 'cause once you've said these words they are so hard to take back. rory has so much privelege, her grandparents paid for her schooling, she has never had to work for herself, the second things get hard she runs to other ppl who give her money, a place to live, etc. not everyone has that kind of safety net
Rory worked for herself and who care if Richard and Emily paid for school. Logan never worked a day in his life and daddy paid for everything. Logan got his first real job at 25

Honestly, Logan could have been WAY harsher here. Rory by this point was so far removed from the average person it was astounding. She didn't have a trust fund but almost no one has their family fund a new university building in their name. Rory is absolutely a rich kid but she's even further beyond that since she consistently had an entitled, party girl attitude. And honestly, I think the writers didn't have Logan rip into her that much because it would break the audience's perception of the character. Because as rich, privileged, and entitled as Rory is, the show never fully acknowledges it because they wanted to keep her likable, relatable, and sympathetic. And it's hard to related to a character who's so rich, to like a girl who lacks self-awareness, or to sympathize with a girl who so entitled. Rory is a character a lot of people like when they watch her on tv because there is a disconnect between fiction and and viewers' reality. The show deliberately downplays her rich girl, entitled, and dare I say, spoiled attitude because they want you to like her. But if she was a real girl who her fans knew in real life, they almost certainly would not like her. That's why they didn't have Logan rip into her more even though he could have, because they didn't want the reality of Rory's character to hit the viewers.

Is it really OMG when Obama was a well known senator who was getting a lot of hype and support as a potential presidential nominee at this time? And is it really a prediction when they’re simply discussing the possibility of him running like a lot of political pundits and journalists were doing at the time?

what he meant was that you may not have a trust fund but you have no financial trouble and have zero expenses like rent. he could’ve said smt like student loan and it would mean the same thing but rent came out wrong.
She has a trust fund, did you not see the discussion Lorelai, Richard when he wanted to buy her by advancing the money so that she would receive it now as long as she went back to yale and Lorelai objected? Sorry for my English
Rory’s article may have been judgmental but I think Logan could’ve given her some honest feedback without blowing up on her like that. Sometimes when you’re so close to a piece of work you don’t even see how it could come off as offensive. That’s why you reach out to other people to share it with them to see what they think. Plus it was an opinion/observational piece that wasn’t even published yet. And that whole you’re not paying rent jab was a low blow, I mean he was the one who asked her to move in. She asked for his feedback, not to be berated for making a piece of work that definitely needed to be re-examined.
I think if it were any other piece he would have just given her some honest feedback like you suggested, but the article was actually judgemental of who he is, so he felt personally attacked. He was hurt by her words.
@@wt042 yeah but with the way she wrote it, he felt like she was indirectly attacking him and thought of him as a silly trust fund kid, so it felt like a personal biting remark.
So it makes sense that the next thing she wrote was really hurtful she was really pissed off at her parents, and she compartmentalize it instead of actually dealing with it. And then she channeled all that anger into her writing.
When he says the line about her not paying rent, how funny would it have been if she replied “Hey! I earn that through sex! I’m just a regular working girl like everybody else!”
When Rory wrote the article about the LDB Lorelei called the rich kids spoiled thoughtless kids of rich people that look down on poor people. Rory flipped out she was mad at Lorelei for judging those rich kids when she didn't know them. Now Rory is judging rich people she doesn't know and doesn't understand why Logan is so mad. I'm sure she doesn't pay for anything Logan pays all the bills. He pays for their dates and all their vacations. But now she's trying to make him feel bad at the way he is able to pay for everything. Also Christopher would have given Rory a trust fund too, but she won't take the money. If Rory needed a million dollars she could go to her father or her grandparents. And that is why Logan said she is one of them.
Logan, said that the title of an article was" let them drink Cosmos". I love what Logan said Logan knows who he is and what he is. Rory thinks she is" Joe bus driver". That's because of her mom she put that in her head. Rory believe that if she works and make her money that she's not privileged. And does not see that she is privileged and has always been. She's not aware that she has a trust fund when she hits 25. And she has not paid rent to anyone someone has always paid her rent. Rory has always had her needs met. Just like her mother feels that she did everything herself and that was not the case. Her mother looks down on rich people and taught her to look down so at rich people. Without Emily's and Richard's money Lorelai and Rory would have nothing. Lorelai feels she did everything with out help and her daughter believe that not true at all. My grandparents paid for Yale, Chilton and her mother's Hotel also paid for repairs to our house termites money for another hotel after the father passed away. Logan doesn't live in la la land but Rory has always lived in la la land. After Rory took her article to her friends house and both of them read it then she understood why Logan was so upset. He had a right to be upset and he was making his point clear because he doesn't raise his voice and him expressing how messed up she thinks everybody else is but she's the same privilege person as the people she was writing about. She thinks she's at the bottom like regular people and she's not he just want her to get that in her reality that she's not like everybody else the Joe bus driver. And connections make the world go round that's what that's what Logan's father was trying to tell her. That's why she's been stuck in her career and didn't get nowhere cuz he doesn't live in reality.
Logan invited his girlfriend to a work event in a personal capacity, where she decided to put on a journalist hat in the middle of a private function in which nobody knows or expects to be talking to the media. He was totally fine with it until it turned out to be a hit piece about the people he has to work with, in which she chose to write about how all his business partners and associates are spoiled shitheads and planned to publish it publicly. This article, in which she castigates these rich, elitist pigs for making connections at parties like this one, is being written for someone whose connection he arranged for her at this party. Later, when she has no foreseeable job after graduation, Rory is going to be given her first full job to cover the Obama campaign by the same guy whose connection she made from criticizing these connections.
She was incredibly privileged, knowing that she would never have to priotitize working to be able to eat over her education, but its hardly the same as Logan, who was born and raised with a golden spoon. Rory? who lived from ages 1-16 with a single mothers income and some of them were maid's salary??, who lived half her childhood in a shed behind the inn?? Same as multimillionaire Huntzberger? She got into that great school bc she was an exceptional student, we see her work hard and tiredlesly for years, whilest the little we know of logan is that he spent his years being a troubleamaker, getting expelled, partying and getting arrested and sinking boats in the ocean with no care in the world. The same??? And the whole "you're not exactly paying rent"?? when HE told her not to? cause she was in fact paying rent in that shithole she lived in, and unless im confused, with her own money. She got kicked out and HE offered to let her stay, only to rub it on her face??? Rory was so unaware of her own privilege that was infuriating, but same as him? who was richer than the rich? Crazy
That’s not what it means, genius. He’s not complaining about her owing him rent. She made the comment about his trust fund and he said “You’re not paying rent,” meaning “you’re living off the same trust fund I am but judging me for it, don’t act like you’re struggling to pay rent and make ends meet”
One thing I noticed about Rory was that she would always change her tune.
I believe the maternal grandma took back the offer of a trust fund due to Lorelei and the mother fighting about the money, if my memory serves.
Ciba Zyx
I thought she set it up for Rory to receive when she turns 25 but was going to let Rory have access to it at the time to help pay for Chilton.
When someone's mad, he//she should breathe deeply (count 1 to 10). You gotta give yourself sometime to be calm so you avoid hurting someone especially a loved one...just a thought.
That was her great grandma who decided bit to give it her in the end
I don't know what happened to that money, but her dad set up a trust fund for her and Gigi when his grandpa died and left him an inheritance.
Logan is so right. He's very frank very honest. He doesn't hide or fake who he is. He knows the wealthy aren't doing anything wrong by making connections.
I agree. And Rory actually got her first job after university THROUGH CONNECTIONS, so lol 😅

One of the most important limes of the series. "And your joe busdriver"
girl just because you dont have a trust fund (which she does trix gave 250k to give to her when shes 25) doesnt mean you’re not rich and privelaged your fathers looking for places to throw money (probably even set a trust fund too) your grandparents are rich af and are in the center of the rich society. you dont even have to work to get money. and honestly her grandparents and boyfriend doesnt let her pay a thing and takes her to these parties where she can and does make connections. she thinks that’s regular and not a privalege?

This is out of blue but for me Logan gives bad advice idk
is that young sheldon's dad?
Girl, didn’t you know that when you moved in with him that you’re now also living off his trust fund? But you’re only judging him for it?
She met that reporter at the party BECAUSE of Logan!
