    Hard to find nice honest people in the world anymore and you definitely seem to fit the bill for one of them. My story just started with an acquired 28" snapper rider from 2007 from a family member and its had minimal maintenance done to it since. Random mis-sized front wheel, spark plug old, old non oem fuel filter, found the ignition coil shifted into the magneto? Ive watched probably 10 of your videos thus far and continue to learn from them. Waiting on a wheel to come in so i can re-adjust the mower deck now! Once parts come in ill be adding a fuel shutoff, and change the black oil in it, as well as a new float bowl washer. Had trouble starting so i wasnt sure if it was a spark issue or fuel. Ill soon find out! This mower wouldve been a great one for your how to videos lol. Thanks again for doing all these vids so that a guy like myself can start from nowhere and actually do these maintenance items. Add me to your hall of fame. Dan from arnold, missouri. Thanks again and im off to watch more 😉

    Hey Jim, I placed the same size blocks under my deck, front, back, right and left sides. Dropped the deck to rest on the blocks, loosen the bolt at the mower engage petal. Then retighten the bolt and adjusted the chains at the back. Perfectly level with no messing around. I repeated this method adding shims to get the blade height to match by push mower blade height.
    Thanks so much for your videos, I love my Snapper and would be lost without your instructions. Bill Shippensburg PA

    Jim, I was just about to contact you as how to remove and replace those "longer than they should be" 28 inch blades. I don't set my mower up to change the blade and laying on my side and trying to get the blade to drop out (or twist in) is (WAS) almost impossible until you showed me - that you slip the blade thru the 'chute'. ah! Who ever said "Ya can't teach an Old Dog new tricks". My Snapper is over 20 yrs old, mowing lawn and woods and thanks to you, it will keep on cuttin' it.

    The air pressure is very important in the tires. A guy put a new tire on & put 32lbs. of air in it like you do a car. I'm surprised it didn't explode. I caught it before it did.

    • @jimjackson9381

      William Davis
      Well all tires are different I’ve got three machines sitting here in my shop and one front tire says maximum inflation 30 psi and the back tires say on it maximum inflation 28 psi and I have other machine to say 14 on the front and 12 on the back I think it all depends on where the tires were made and how many ply tire it is so it basically you just have to read the tire and go by that. Jim

    • @williamdavis9943
      @williamdavis9943 4 года назад +2

      Let me clarify my statement. I have one tractor that says on the tire 15 lbs. max. where the Snapper tires are Kenda tires which use 28 lbs. & 35 lbs. max. so what I meant was the guy should have looked on the side of tire for the correct air pressure.

The question I had, if I was to make an adjustment for side to side. The adjustment bold had another bolt going through it . as turned out it was level . Thanks for a great set of Snapper videos. I have a 28" Snapper and checked the deck height at bottom of the deck, is 2 5/8 inches from my concrete garage floor with the height lever in the #5 slot. The deck is level and the tires are inflated at the recommended 12 psi. I want to cut my grass at a greater height, about 3 1/2 inches. Is there a way to increase the cutting height? I had to disconnect all the safety features and then the deck rusted out I had to engage you engage the blade and then zip tied the pedals down and now it's direct drive ! But then the pool start couldn't handle it and kept breaking so I came up with the idea, too started it with a half inch drive drill with a welded socket on it and it starts right up no more pull start.

      Basically you can adjust your mower deck to any level that suits you, on my number one position or the lowest position I have about a half inch off the ground because in the fall when I get a bunch of acorns I suck them all up using my snapper so the height adjustment doesn’t mean too much it’s just your own personal preference. Mr. Jackson, I just acquired an older snapper rear engine. Not quite like yours, but I have some adjusting problems of the front half of the cutting deck. There is a lever on the left of the steering column, that is either all the way up, or released all the way. Now, when I mean all the way down, it only drops down about an inch, but the rear half of the cutting deck has an adjustment nut that I can use a speed handle on. I have a video that talks about that very issue, basically you do not want to grease your spindle bearings today are made and greased for life the old bearings were open on the inside of the spindle Housing if you grease it you’re going to pump all the old grease that’s in the spindle that’s all dried up into your bearings which will destroy them faster then if you don’t grease them at all. For fat people, the deck needs to be high in the rear. When they sit in the seat...... Or people with the bagger on it. Two bags full of wet grass will weight down the rear of the mower.
