In reference to the send/return. If i put my effects chain in the loop, my effects chain will not affect the synth sounds? So if i then want reverb or delay on the synth signal i would need an additional pedal for that? Thats fine but will that reverb/delay then affect my guitar signal?
The send/return can be set to "DIRECT" so that its dry un-synthed guitar, which then you add any effects on your pedalboard you don't ever want to be run through the synth. You can do the opposite and set it to EFFECT so that any Synth only effects can be placed in there.
Hello! I wanted to know if SY-200 can be controlled with external sequencer pedal in order to create custom sequences? Does the MIDI functionality of the SY-200 allow for this? Thanks!
Hello!...cool video!...I'd like to ask you how to turn the unit on or off?...I purchased one in June this year...put the batteries in and the unit came on...I was not ready to use it at that time but yesterday I wanted to plug it up and put brand new Energizers in and nothing when I push the on and off switch.....I find Romance website to be very confusing and when I call them the recording says to use the website???....frustrated if you can advise it would be cool!!..thanks!!
@@RSerious Generally with BOSS pedals (and most pedal brands) the input jack acts as the ON/OFF switch when using battery power. If you're using battery power and leave the input plugged in, it will drain the battery, regardless if the ON/OFF footswitch on the unit is lit or not. You can leave it plugged in if you're using external power, but if using battery power, you should unplug the pedal when not in use.
Usually any pedals that track the input (like a synth pedal, octave pedal, etc) perform best early in the signal chain. And it's lots of fun to throw on additional effects after the synth pedal for different tones.
@@longandmcquade Can the pedals in the signal chain you add to the BOSS synth be of assorted brands? like Donner, Flamma etc. sorry if it's a dumb question
Great demo, and thank you sir. Where is your output from the SY-200 going into? I want to run my od & distortion pedals and some of my other pedals thru the send/returns. Do I have to run my output from the SY-200 directly to my amp input? I know it all depends on whether I'm running a stereo rig or not, or if I'm using my loop on the back of amp. Thank you again!
We're not entirely sure what you're asking but we'll take a stab at it. It looks like the SY-200 is the second pedal in Danny's signal chain, right after the CP-1X compressor. The SY-200 is feeding into either the OD-200 directly beside it on the lower row of the board, or back to the upper row of the board and into the EQ-200. The last pedal is either the RC-10R or IR-200. For the sake of this video, the IR-200 is his amp replacement. So no, you do not have to run the SY-200 directly into your amp's input, and that's not what Danny is doing here either. The output of the SY-200 could feed any other pedals after it. It's usually recommended that synth pedals (or any other pedals that track input, like an octave pedal) go at the front of your signal chain so that other pedals don't interfere with its ability to track the input accurately.
This pedal (or most any synth pedals) would benefit from being placed as early in the chain as possible after the guitar, since it requires a clean signal for the most accurate tracking. Adding a compressor pedal before the synth pedal would even out the level and help the tracking even further. So we'd recommend Guitar -> Tuner -> Compressor -> SY-200 and then the rest of your chain.
It's not the "200" format, but have you seen the new Slicer? The new SL-2 is the updated version of the original SL-20. ruclips.net/video/RZxcF0bziOk/видео.html

Why can’t these SY pedals dedicate one program to matching the sound of the original GR-300? Great pedal but really wish the GR-300 was a focus of some of the presets. Some come close but really don’t compare to the original GR-300. For those that don’t know the GR300 is the greatest guitar Synth Roland has ever made.
Hi Paul, the SY-1000 has a dedicated GR-300 model. I have an actual GR-300 and the model is the best representation of it I’ve heard so far. :-) Obviously just my opinion, but hope it helps! Cheers!
Boss needs to just go all in and finally make a dedicated chiptune pedal and bring anamanaguchi on board to make some presets. Then you can take all the money from synth nerds like me lol
@@JessieThorne886 this is not the first comment I’ve left about it to someone lol. Even emailed once but no one has made a chiptune pedal yet and boss seems to really be the one pushing synth pedals at this point. If anyone could do it they could. I listen to a lot of chiptune and synthwave so definitely excited by the idea. I’ve done the whole hex pickup thing before with the gr55 and that’s cool but being able to just plug ant guitar in and go has really made boss the top notch play to go for this stuff
Thanks for demoing the expression pedal.

Does the SY-200 have a dry mode in which I can simulate bass on guitar using the pitch-shifter?

Thats awesome.
Thanks. I have 2 questions. 1- Is it stereo? On the picture i can see only one output. 2 - can we use the midi out to send into a synthesizer?
How many empty slots are available for patches created from scratch?
