Sandip Nandy is a national footballer, goalkeeper and currently the goalkeeper coach of Diamond Harbor FC. He was born and brought up in Bardhaman. He has been interested in sports since childhood. Besides studies he started playing football in his school days. But at a young age, he was very confused between choosing academics and sports. In the 90s, neither Sandip nor his parents had the confidence that football could make a career. But his guru Sri Gautam Sarkar realized the potential of Sandip Nandi. He dreamed that Sandip would one day play for teams like East Bengal and Mohun Bagan. This is how his journey started. Later Sandip came to Kolkata, made his career and played for various big teams, his game is impeccable. This 20 years of football career of Sandip Nandy was very hard earned. Coming from a small town like Bardhaman, he had to work hard to make his place, his impact. Today’s episode is about how coming from a small town, Sandip became a national footballer.
সন্দীপ নন্দী একজন জাতীয় ফুটবলার, গোলকিপার ও বর্তমানে Diamond Harbour FC-র গোলকিপার কোচ। তার বড়ো হওয়া বর্ধমানে। ছোটবেলা থেকেই খেলাধুলায় আগ্রহ ছিল তার। সেই মতোই পড়াশোনার সাথে সাথেই ফুটবল খেলা শুরু করেন বর্ধমানেই। কিন্তু ছোট বয়সে পড়শোনা না খেলা কোনটা বেছে নেবেন সেই নিয়ে দোটানায় পড়তে হচ্ছিলো তাকে। ৯০-র দশকে দাঁড়িয়ে ফুটবলকেও যে অবলম্বন করে ক্যারিয়ার গড়ে তোলা যায়, ততটা ভরসা সন্দীপ ও তার মা বাবা কারওই তখন ছিল না। কিন্তু তার গুরু শ্রী গৌতম সরকার তার ওপর ভরসা করতে পেরেছিলেন তখনি, বুঝতে পেরেছিলেন সন্দীপ নন্দীর গুন। তিনি স্বপ্ন দেখছিলেন নিজে ও সন্দীপকে স্বপ্ন দেখিয়েছিলেন একদিন ইস্টবেঙ্গল, মোহনবাগানের মতো দলে খেলতে পারার। এইভাবে শুরু হয় তার জার্নি। পরবর্তীকালে কলকাতায় আসেন সন্দীপ ও বিভিন্ন বড়ো দলের হয়ে খেলেন, অনবদ্য তার খেলা। ২০ বছরের এই ক্যারিয়ার খুবই কষ্টার্জিত ছিল তার। সুদূর বর্ধমানের মতো ছোট শহর থেকে এসে অনেক পরিশ্রম করতে হয়েছে তাকে নিজের জায়গা তৈরী করতে। বর্ধমান থেকে আসা সন্দীপ নন্দীর জাতীয় ফুটবলার হয়ে ওঠার গল্প শুনে নেবো আজ।
