- Hey guys I'm back with another video!! So, another week means another episode of "The Last Of Us". As we approach the end of this series I am beginning to prepare myself for the worst, especially after this episode... shock more gay trauma this time surrounding Ellie!! This episode definitely filled in a few gaps in the story so far so I am grateful for that, but did I need the tragedy. I don't know lol. Enjoy!! xoxo

yeah but i like THESE kinda tragic stories cuz u know usually they show tragedy in gay romance stuff that is related to homophobia , self acceptance (internal homophobia),social discrmination and its conseqeunces etc etc i mean we deserve "normal" trgedies too lol. Yes we need real stories there but why only sad ones . I think we deserve happy endings (like cinderella stories not realistic i know but we deserve them too) and also normal tragedies by which i mean it can happen to anyone regardless of sexuality like these lol
@@aks721990 agreed, we need a full spectrum of representation and I'm glad that even though lgbtq characters do die in this show, it's not exactly the whole "bury your gays" trope since their deaths have nothing to do with their sexuaIity and all sorts of characters are killed off in TLOU, they're just treated like any other characters
@@aks721990 tbh compared to the game i feel like bill and frank did get their happy ending, well as happy as they could get, either way frank kills himself , atleast bill doesn’t become a bitter old man like in the games and he goes out with the love of his life. yeah it’s shitty all the gay characters don’t have a ending where they are alive lol but i don’t think that’s something relevant to the last of us and how beautifully they where able to add representation while keeping the storyline similar
the fact that when joel and tess where asking about how ellie got bit she said she went in the mall by herself :,) she never mentioned riley to them

it’s implied that the first time ellie ever hurt someone was Riley because she ends up turning which means she most likely kills her

I don't know why Joel squeezing back when Ellie took his hand was what finally broke me. Ellie and Riley built up all of the emotion and that moment broke the dam.
Same! He told her to leave but you could tell he was relieved to see her come back.

Because same as the letter in Ep 3..that moment is the reason we got that flash back, it all comes together at that moment. That hand holding was Ellie's resounding "I'm not f'ing leaving you" and the squeez back was Joel's "I'm not going to die, I need to live for this kid" is he 100% comming to terms with the fact that Ellie is everything for him now. So yeah..that's why we all broke at that moment.
SAME!!! When he told her to leave but you could see the tear coming down the side of his face you knew how he was feeling and then when she went back to him (we all knew she wasn’t going to leave him I’m not a game player but it’s Ellie she wasn’t leaving) and then when she was holding his hand and the fingers laced and he squeezed back it was cemented how he feels about her even though he was more open after their discussion this really drove it home plus he’s always so independent it’s sweet to see him really not only need someone but know he’s connected with them

Remember in episode 2 when Tess asked Ellie, if there's gonna be anyone looking for her... Mom, Dad, Boyfriend? Ellie says, "Well, I'm an orphan, and.... Noooo." This was what that "Nooooo" was about. Yes, Ellie is on the L Squad.
You know … other than the infected and the trauma …. The mail date would be so fun

Bella deserves all the awards!! Storm did. an amazing job as Riley and I can’t imagine anyone else as her!!

The Ellie and Riley situation was a DLC for the Last Of Us. So its nice to see them including it in the series.
the fact that ellie now has survivors guilt too, from watching her best friend (and first love!!) die, probably even having to kill her... how unfair would it seem, to get to live, when riley didn't? then, it gets even further driven home with Sam. She couldn't help him either. And now Joel, imagine how helpless and scared she is that she is about to lose the closest person to her, AGAIN, and even he is pushing her away saying "there's nothing you can do, just go". Poor fucking girl. They are doing a masterful job adapting the story from the game, I am even starting to like the show more to be honest just because of how real it's being through and through. Can't imagine how the last two episodes are going to hit.
And Tess. Everyone always forgets Tess.
Yes, I think the show is driving home Ellie's survivor guilt much more, which will be very important in season 2's content. The show has been able to dive into character moments more, and I love it for that (still love the game's portrayal of the narrative as well, of course).
The only scene I think wasn't improved upon in the show so far was the "you're not my daughter" scene. It just hit harder in the game, because Joel's character and the context of the scene is different between the show/game (and not different as in "worse," just different). Acting/performance wise, they were equally good.
Yep, exactly how I feel. The way Joel and Ellie are in the original game works from a 2013 gameplay and story standpoint- Joel is basically a superhuman-level, stoic killing machine but opens up to Ellie who reminds him of Sarah; Ellie is a very mature, calm but sassy teenager, but they don't delve any deeper into trauma she may have experienced. But the show is delving even further by adding the PTSD Joel would realistically have of losing Sarah and Tess, and how Ellie's anger and loneliness from her years in FEDRA military school are still in her present-day personality. They have backstories that shape how they are and what they do, and I honestly prefer the show's characterizations for them bc they feel even more well-rounded.

@@bonkc I disagree Tess is the first person to believe in her and to die for her, Ellie gives Tess hope something she had lost and Ellie can see the impact she leaves on her giving both of them a purpose they didn’t have before making their lives meaningful
"The hole" is a term for solitary confinement. So instead of being in her room with all her stuff, she was probably put in a bare room all by herself as punishment for a while. Usually it's very small and very uncomfortable.
idk if im the only one, but i'd love to see brad play this game. maybe after the season is over, really any sort of iconic game with his playthrough would complete my entire existence 😭

When Elllie told Joel it wasn’t her first time hurting someone, she was talking about Riley. Meaning she had to kill her when she turned into a clicker. Also, when Tess asked her how she got bit, she said she went into the mall alone, but she never mentioned Riley.
99 % correct, the clicker stage comes after a few years of infection. First it's the "normal" infected from episode 1.

I'm happy this show became popular because people were shitting on it because there was a lot of "unnecessary gay moments" but that's the exact same reason they're doing it. So people like them would eventually get used to reality 🙄. Anyway, great show, great reaction 🙈
I think a lot of gamers in 2013 were also younger and dumber, and literally just didn't pick up on the extremely obvious "hints" that Bill was gay. And not everyone played the DLC, so they might not have known Ellie was a lesbian.
The second game came out, and these idiots got retroactively offended about the first game's DLC, so they could "justify" being mad about Ellie and other non-hetero normative characters in the sequel.
Honestly they can just die mad about it. One of the best video game stories ever made is queer af, and it's now becoming the best adapted video game story to date. And will likely win tons of awards, just like the games did.
It makes me giggle seeing the people who have only watched the show throw a massive fit over the gay moments knowing Ellie is a full raging lesbian with a girlfriend in the second game so that’s what they’re gonna have to fortunately deal with in the second season💀.
The same ppl say rancid and perverted things about Bella ramsay when she is barely 19 but there you have them. What can you expect from a donkey but a kick.
I believe episode 3 was perfect for ferreting out the bigots and getting them off the show. I personally know multiple people, plus a couple reactors that I liked that stopped after that episode because of the gay stuff.

This episode tells the story of the Left Behind DLC. It was released on Valentines day and I downloaded it as soon as it was available. The photo booth scene is where I suddenly realized we were on a date. I Probably should have picked up on it sooner 😂

It’s really poetic but then you realize Ellie had to see her first love turn and she stayed the same without understanding how. It gives so much more meaning to her words about loss in the last episode, and that little moment between her and Joel when they held hands. Chosen *family*! As someone who already knew about Riley, when Ellie told Tess she got bit when she went to the mall alone my heart broke. Her hurt face hiding the truth, quickly followed by pride because Tess complimented her. Precious 🤏

Such an amazing episode. Love every bit of it! It made me think and talk about what we take for granted. My mom and I talked about, the video stores, the magazines of games that I still have. The joy on Ellie her face as she sees the wonders of the mall. Absoluty amazing, the connection between Riley and Ellie, and Ellie and Joel.

I haven't played the game, but that's definitely what happened since Ellie is immune and Riley isn't. Joel taking Ellie's hand at the end was beautiful. He finally realized he didn't need to fight his parental feelings for her anymore, and he that they would fight for each other like family.

I really loved this episode is a part of the DLC of the game this is Ellie's backstory on how Riley and Ellie got bitten. this was such a wholesome episode and I enjoyed seeing this in live-action. Stormie Reed is Gia in Euphoria btw Brad. I really loved Stormie's portrayal as Riley.

I was so tense throughout this entire episode, because I dreaded what I knew was going to happen! I was waiting for the shoe to drop every time things got cute! Bill and Frank has such a beautiful story - this is far more tragic. They were given a taste of what their lives could be like then had everything ripped away. The actresses did an amazing job.

If you need a new show to watch after this, I’d recommend “not me” it’s a Thai lgbtq series and it’s soooo good!! It focuses on social and political issues as well and it’s so amazingly written, directed and acted. 10/10 would recommend!! ❤️
