Robin, I like this wrap because you don't have to "put" the baby into the wrap. You're already holding the baby very comfortably and you wrap the wrap around him. My son doesn't like being put into a wrap that is already on me. I think he may like this one better. I have a few fuctions to go to this weekend and I will try this. Thanks so much!! Sheena
Erin, your baby should have good head & trunk control for a hip carry, like able to lift his chest and support himself on his forearms when he's on his tummy - usually 3-4mo. But you can definitely do it on the front, and then it's fine for a younger baby.
hip carries have been used around the world for thousands of years. also, i hold my baby on my hip all the time with nothing locking her legs, why does adding a wrap support make this a huge problem? also, there is a knot below the babies legs supporting it.
The wrap I'm using for this is a Didymos Red Waves and it is 3.7 meters long. As far as wraps go, it is kind of medium weighted: it's not a thin fabric, but also not dense and heavy.
I'd say when the baby is big enough to actually wrap their legs around you. By that time they can also sit up. Just watch their pelvis and keep your hand on them.
The seat you create, fabric under the bum, in addition to gravity, pressure, and friction, then in addition blocking by your hip, and sometimes an additional knot.....the baby isn't going anywhere. Also to note this isn't a hands free carry. It's basically a child on your hip without the arm and back pain.
this is perfect. i needed something to support my 1yo while im cleaning that doesnt take 5 minutes to set up.

Genius!!!!!!
Youpi! merci !!
Does anybody know if this will work for a Moby wrap?
Yes if you stretch it enough and evenly.
How old should a baby be for this? also... can it be changed to a front carry, do you think?

i wouldn't
This is unsafe. There's nothing locking the baby's legs from slipping out the bottom. I wouldn't either.
