RUclips recommending me this video after returning home from Bath where I bought so many things, most of them related to Jane Austen makes me feel seen haha glad to know I’m not the only one! Love your haul 🛁
🛁 I really want to go back to bath. I've not been since I was in Primary school, and i'd love to take my husband and daughter to a place that I loved as a child!! I'm the same, Bath is interchangable with me too!! Have a lovely week!!xx
Going to Bath for the first time this year and getting all the inspiration from your videos, Claire. Thank you for your phantastic, lovely, entertaining content. 🛀
I confess to so far not being a huge Jane Austen fan. I’ve read all her novels three or four years ago except Mansfield Park, which I am yet to read. I have just discovered Barbara Pym a modern classic author who is often compared to Jane Austen and whose books I am thoroughly enjoying. As a result I am eager to read Mansfield Park and perhaps revisit Austen’s other works. Barbara Pym might be worth a try for you. The Sanditon tv series is brilliant. Loved this video you made and I have just ordered a copy of The Georgians as it looks really interesting and I managed to find a copy on sale.
🛀 I loved Bath when I visited a few years ago - it was actually the first post-lockdown trip for my partner and I so also feels like a special place for us. Also I just went and ordered the Jane Austen blend from Sally Lunn's for my friend's birthday next week, thanks for the inspiration. It'll be perfect for her!
Wonderful 🛀 thanks Claire... re Bath, yes a beautiful classical place architecturally, and the scary whalebone-like inner structure of the Abbey 😯 ... thanks for showing the Royal Crescent (what was the grand house on the hill with the lily pool pond below a weir? Just gorgeous) all the historical resonance of the Royal Crescent and Pump rooms, I really love the current shops you show us too, cafés and book shops, thanks for that, it gives me a sense of Bath Now... plus the Persephone store of course (not shown here but in my thoughts), and all this so convenient for Oxford or London... looking forward to your further adventures, possibly another decision, South or North? (I am a Northerner)... looking forward to it, even if it's just a review of your big book on Georgian England 🤔
Really enjoyed seeing everything! I love Sanditon series, especially season 2 and 3. Colin Firth will always be my Mr. Darcy! 😁 Persuasion has always been my favorite Jane Austen novel, so thank you for showing your video of Bath, one day I hope to cross the pond to see it for myself! 🛁📚❤
🛁 That was a lovely video!! Enjoyed it so much. My God what would our lives have been like if Jane Austen hadn’t written her wonderful novels! Bleak indeed !!
I love this! You are so wonderful, in your excitement for Bath, Jane Austen... Love it and so glad I found your channel! Thanks for all of the book haul info . :)
This was such a lovely video! 🛀 I've been to Bath a few times and am now counting down until my daughter will get enough out of it to book another trip!
I love all your videos and really enjoyed this one. I am a fan of Jane austen! I always look forward to seeing your videos. So refreshing! I understand your feelings when you didn't pay to get into the abbey. Lol I always think I am going to jail for something 😂
I love your videos. Love the chattiness, the bath/bathiness, the tour at the end, the haul (I now have The History Book from her juvenilia (sp?) in my HOLD queue at the library, as well as the Hornby). Each new video I watch, I'm so delighting in getting to know you and Ben. 🛁📚🕍
🛁 thanks Claire I really enjoy this place really would love to good and visit sometime in my life . But this one thing better I still get to see England and Jane Austen .❤
I wish you had met the Outlaw Bookseller, Stephen E Andrews, while in Bath or Baath. I also wish you had stood up and showed off your book themed jacket. 🛀 💐
I love Sanditon! If you are interested in spending more time with those characters I recommend 'Sanditon: Jane Austen's Last Novel Completed' by Jane Austen and Another Lady. It was originally published in 1975 but has been reprinted a couple times since. My favourite characterization of Sidney Parker is Carrie Bebris' Mr & Mrs Darcy Mystery 'The Suspicion At Sanditon' from 2016.
Hi Claire, thank you for another brilliant video. I love Jane Austen and it was really nice to see a bit of Bath, makes me want to go there even more. Best wishes from Sweden!🌟🛁
I loved visiting Bath! I'm a huge Jane Austen fan. When I was at her house, I was going to buy Persuasion and Persuasion randomly fell on me in the shop. LOL Hello, from New Hampshire, US! :D
🛁I agree that Miss Austen is a wonderful read and thanks for the two nonfiction recommendations. Thank you so much for taking me back to Bath! I spent some of my university time in Bath and worked at the Jane Austen Centre, but living in the US makes it hard to come back and visit. I'm living vicariously through you. 💜 Also, your Tudor recommendations are spot on! They're my go-to for my mother's birthday and Christmas presents.
I loved this! How id love to be there in 🛀!! Lovely video. Having enjoyed others im subscribing today. I love Jane Austen. I read most of Juvenalia last year...im delighted to imagine you reading this, what joy! Very very much fun!! In California, so far from 🛀. Nice to see your filming of it, & well done! Love the book jacket😂.
This video was a true delight! But the only complaint I have is that you neglected to link your wonderful cardigan! Could you do so if possible? Thanks ever so much!
What a lovely video. Going to Bath and to those wonderful bookshops has been a dream of mine for years. Also, I'd be interested to know your thoughts on the Sanditon TV series.
I love Bath, and living 30 minutes on the train away, visit regularly. I'm going next month to see Lucy Worsley. She is doing a talk on her book about Agatha Christie. Thanks Claire, good to see you back. Xxx❤🛀🛀🛀
I was really carried away by Sanditon and discuss it fondly in one of my vlogs. I also enjoyed the TV series, though many “Janeites” frown on it. I really liked it! Great camera tour of Bath, especially the shots where you are looking up the hill at buildings. Welcome back. ❤

I love Colin Firth as Mr Darcy he’s dashingly handsome. 😂.

I totally agree about Jane Austen’s wicked sense of humor. It shows up so much in her letters !

You are wise. It takes forever to get to Bath (short A 😂) from here. We're going in March and are breaking it up with a stop in Stratford
How lovely! Thank you for this video and I hope to explore Bath too one day 😊🛁
I loved visiting Bath! I'm a huge Jane Austen fan. When I was at her house, I was going to buy Persuasion and Persuasion randomly fell on me in the shop. LOL Hello, from New Hampshire, US! :D

Thank you for watching! So glad I could transport you to Bath 💓
You should visit Jane's home in Hampshire and her last home town Winchester which is where she is buried.
Very lucky to have been to both ❤️ I have two videos of my trip to Chawton on my channel
This video was a true delight! But the only complaint I have is that you neglected to link your wonderful cardigan! Could you do so if possible? Thanks ever so much!
It's the Althea Bookselves cardigan by Joanie! The link is now in description but full disclosure that this was gifted ❤️
I've been eyeing this cardigan since it came out, it's super sweet and suits you well.
So enjoyed your video as always. Thank you xx 🛀
Love the chatty ones.🛁
Okay this has convinced me that I do need to pick up the Darcy/Elizabeth decorations when I’m next in Bath 😍
What a lovely video. Going to Bath and to those wonderful bookshops has been a dream of mine for years. Also, I'd be interested to know your thoughts on the Sanditon TV series.
I need to get some days of work to just sit and binge!!
I love Bath, and living 30 minutes on the train away, visit regularly. I'm going next month to see Lucy Worsley. She is doing a talk on her book about Agatha Christie. Thanks Claire, good to see you back. Xxx❤🛀🛀🛀
I was born, raised and still live in the same county as Bath and I use both pronunciations interchangeably. I wouldn't worry about it!
In similar geek mode... Is it out of control yet that my Virginia Woolf collection (books by or about VW) is now at least 60 books?
Your collection is just getting started 😉
🛁 Your music choice for the footage of Bath was inspired.
I just had to do it!
Please can you tell me where your bookish cardigan is from?
Althea Bookselves cardigan by Joanie (link is in the description)
Delightful content. Currently reading Lucy Worsley’s biography of Agatha Christie which is hard to put down 🛁
I really enjoyed it too!
🛁🛁🛁 Greetings from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada 🇨🇦
I wish I could put the 1995 Darcy with the 2005 Elizabeth!
I also love Jennifer Ehle so the 1995 adaptation is perfect for me ❤️
