A huge event in the model railway calendar is the London Festival of Railway Modelling at Alexandra Palace - or Ally Pally! Organised by British Railway Modelling magazine (BRM @world-of-railways ) and featuring layouts handpicked by The Model Railway Club, what does London's biggest model railway exhibition have to offer in 2024?
This year rather than attempting to capture all the layouts on show (of which there were many!) I instead decided to focus on just a selection of model railways that caught my eye.
    Layouts Featured:
    Lacy Dale
    Harton Gill
    West End Drift
    Putnam Division
    The Llandecwyn Railway
    Nictun

Just got back home from the Sunday opening. Fantastic day with these wonderful layouts....Along with a lot of stuff I couldn't afford to buy. XD

  • @CymruRails

Great video mate. My favourite layout of the show was definitely Hope Under Dinmore. I have such a soft spot for those grander looking older locos on the layouts

  • @paulbottrill8391

Great video tour. And nice meeting you and having a chat. Looking forward to the next build series.

Thanks for the tour! Since I’m on the other side of the world I couldn’t really make it 😂 I hope I’ll be able to come one day though! I find British locomotives far more interesting and definitely more pleasing to the eye than our plan black locomotives here in North America. That being said, I don’t dislike our locos by any means, and I liked seeing the US narrow mining railroad, reminds me a lot of a layout at one of my local exhibitions! I really liked all the other layouts as well! The stand-out for me was definitely the OO9 layout with Talyllyn and the Fairlie!

  • @Gb_cole

That Victorian one right at the end is brilliant

  • @tomburridge2317

That narrow gauge slate railway layout is really impressive. Ever since watching the suitcase build on this channel I've gotten really interested in the idea of doing an O09 layout in the future.

That looked like a really fun show with lots to see. Her in America the train shows are fun but the ones I have gotten to go to don't have as many layouts to see. I love the the British engines they are elegant and the colors are awesome. Thanks for sharing this show with us.

It was great meeting you there on Saturday! Was a good show!

  • @railwayjade

    Thanks for taking us along!

  • @timsully8958

Glad you got to go too mate. Funnily enough, my favourites were all very small layouts, including the long thin layout that depicted the test-track depot with all the unusual prototype vehicles that are all lovingly created by a chap called Mark that I follow online and there was also a brilliant small EM shunting layout with a run-round loop which was so simple but my goodness it looked just right from every angle! 😎

  • @rhobatbrynjones7374

It would be useful for the layouts to be named.

  • @bobwatson2531

Lovely to see all those great models, but names and gauges would be a benefit for those unable to attend.

  • @wayneeschbank2895

Great video of the show but I have just one complaint and that it would be good if you could get a shot of the layout name and gauge.

  • @fredtedstedman

wonderful layouts , particularly like 009 at

  • @davidsheriff8989

    Simply wonderful.....what's you next project?

  • @BrendanRaymondKoroKoro

Is it just my device or does every 3 seconds does the frame rate stutter or skip?

  • @kimmarsh5387

It is amazing how fast you can scroll through, more of the same.
