- In this video we are taking a look at The Sims 4 Base Game in 2024. 10 years after it's initial release in 2014.
That's right! This year marks the 10 year anniversary of The Sims 4 and we have officially had the game for 10 whole years! Thats longer than any of the other Sims titles.
Along side that we have seen much content for the game in form of DLC. but in this video the focus will be solely on the Base Game, as that was all we had in 2014 when it came out!
Join me on this journey to see if The Sims 4 Base Game manages to catch my attention. And if i can actually enjoy myself while playing this Free game! Or if you do need the DLC's to have fun.

And yet the prices of old DLCs are still so high. Bruh.. If they cut like 50% off the current price permanently, the price gonna be same like sims 3 DLCs. And more people gonna buy that.
Edit: but more importantly, PLEASE FIX THE BUGS IN THE OLD STUFF. BASE GAME OR THE DLC BUGS.
omg love Michael Bachelor's backstory! Glad you can finally play as him. My first sims game was also sims 1 and I always created perfect families until my younger brother started playing and kept stealing my wifes...
Was looking around for my old copy of the sims 1, but ultimately I had to settle for second best 😂

I actually played the sims 3 basegame again lately and dang... there's still a lot more things to do there than in the sims 4 basegame
yes, we can't change our lifetime wish/aspiration. but there's still so many things to do with other wishes
yes, we can only play with 1 world. but man, it IS a WORLD. no loading screens. no lags. there are cars and bike too
Yes, Sims 4 Basegame is free now, but man, if there's another sales happening in EA App, I recommend yall to buy TS3
The Sims 3 is definitely a good game as well! I think I played that more than any of the others.
Some ups and downs with it though. It's not too optimized for never hardware. I use Nraas to run it smooth, without it it's next to unplayable 😅
Thankfully not everybody has the issues, but I certainly do 😂
The open world is something I will miss till the day we get it back 🤞

You can actually change the lifetime wish before you make it true the good think about a lifetime wish on the sims 3 Is the Is actually a lifetime wish not stupid task like sims 4 🙃🙃
Base game is alright for awhile without DLC. I played it for litteral months with no issues and had fun. Eventually I bought A pack here and there….as a family mostly things that enhance family play. Once you get bored with the basic gameplay loop, you just will start buying DLC and for awhile my trickle purchases of DLC only enhanced the game. But if you hit this point where it seems you are buying packs to make the game fun and not expand it, cut the strings and walk away.
BTW, Michael Bachelor is also Bella Goth’s brother.
Yeah, i totally get it. I haven't bought a pack for the sims 4 in a good while. I think I'm 2 maybe 3 expansion packs behind. But who knows maybe I will get them eventually 😅
Base game only, was surprisingly fun after so much time of playing DLC content and worlds 😄

Also raised a whole sims family in that little house you put Micheal in. His office was the kids bedroom in my game (a boy and girl). Its one of the most hated EA builds but I find it cozy. Made very little reno to it.

Fun fact michael bachelor is a reoccurring character and Bella goths brother. In the sims 2 he is Dina Calientes deceased husband. Both those townies appear in the sims 4 as well :)
I actually found out about the siblings fact when I was looking for the picture of Sims 1 Michael.

Fun fact: The BFF household is actually originally from the My Sims games. They have a love triangle in that game too. Summer is a cheerleader in it i think. I cant remember what Liberty is like. And I'm pretty sure Travis is British because he's wearing a UK T-shirt in that game.

As a student, I've always played base game only, literally made enjoyable by mods and cc. But I gotta say that packs make the game even better, like it just adds life. Base game feels bland, even just the Seasons pack offers so much difference.
Coming back to the base game after many years of playing with expansion packs. It actually feels more alive than 10 years ago 😅
But for sure the features like seasons, eco footprint and so on, makes it a bit more immersive. But totally playable and enjoyable as a base game as well! Now that is 😅
I JUST got sims 4 a week ago, just enjoying the base game right now, then I'll download packs.. subscribed for more michael content!

@@linorder22 I argue they are worth the money on a sale like a summer sale or the sims anniversary sale where you can get them up to 75% but it HEAVILY depends on which pack you get because each pack is different and some are better and worse then others in my opinion there are also different packs for different types of players
IE you can avoid vampires, werewolfs, realm of magic, and for the most part island living if you do not like occult Sims
If you like family Get Together, Parenthood

@victiusplays I bought Sims 1, 2, 3 & Medieval off ebay.
When I was 14 I still remember getting The Sims 4 base game physical copy at Walmart back in September 2014 when it first released, I was slightly disappointed how much of a downgrade it was compared to 3. But they seem to be getting better, and the patches added a lot of more life to it.
You should play the game on it's base level without any updates. So you can feel how empty the very first release was.
I don't think it's possible to downgrade versions though 🤔
Then I would have to buy a physical copy from 2014

I play on Xbox so no mods, and got the backyard stuff pack for free, but apart from that I don’t have any other packs just this 😭 I didn’t realise how old the sims was until earlier, I’m 14 and only started playing in august so when I was 13 and obviously can’t pay for stuff but I really like playing the Sims4 just on it’s own, although I still appreciate it would be so much more fun if I had packs and things

I remember being that age (wow that sounds so old like) but still. I would usually get a new pack for my birthday or Christmas. Until I got a job, then I paid for them mostly myself 😅
But glad you have fun with the base game, some what makes you appreciate that expansion pack more once you so get it 😄

19:45 I always find that pop up so confusing.. I never know if I should click Yes or No. I always click No, thinking that makes the most logical sense, please stop what you're doing and go to work.. and then force them to go to work anyway, even if the boss is calling 😅

I stared off playing just the base game & my first DLC was the Cats & Dogs/My First Pet stuff pack and now 5 years later I have all the packs I want so far, not counting future ones 😂🤞🏻 I haven’t played any of the other sim games unfortunately but everyone makes it sound so good 😂
I have played every single sim title, not with all dlc though. Only buying the ones I find interesting 😅
I think my first expansion was "Get to Work" bought it on release as far as I remember, thinking it would be like "Open for Business" from sims 2. It was sort of, but not completely like.
If you ever get the chance, definitely give the older games a shot! 😄
The Sims 3 is also pretty fun too albeit you would need to download Nrass mods that make the game run better and optionally a lightning mod like brntwaffles and you would also need a pretty beefy PC as well but the Sims 3 is fun the open world still blows my mind
follow what 'user' said, the Sims 2 is pretty easy to download if you want to take the time, its an old game now so wherever you get it from should and will have all the dlc. i have an ok laptop and and good amount of mods for the game (some controller/cheats) and you /might/ feel limited when it comes to dressing them? I don't personally but that and building is a bit of a pain that I have gotten used to..
idk why im trying to hard sell this, but as a former sims 4 player I recommend Sims 2!
I bought Sims 1,2,3 & Medieval on disc and rotate between them all depending on my mood for the day.
Variety is the spice of life!
I played the others ,and it's okay ,not extraordinary like people make you belive ,but maybe the sims 3 complete with all the packs might be à gem compare to the others,can't lie.
I really enjoyed sims 2 for realisme and details but find it's bit annoying if you do other gameplay (alone for ex)rather than the family gameplay.

The problem with The Sims 4, for a lot of people, is that all of the DLC that adds a ton of stuff equals up to over $1,000.
I don't know why said people don't use Anadius' unlocker but alas.
I can't fathom how people say Sims 4 is shallow and not as fun as 2/3 when Infants in Sims 4 are more involved than anything 2 and 3 had to offer.
I think Sims 4 lives under the reputation it got when it released still to this day.
It is much more detailed now, than it was 10 years ago. I mean toddlers where not even in the game at launch 😂
It feels a lot better now though! Still miss the open world from the Sims 3 😅

Bad,I recently got a new p.c so I finally played sims 3 but I also rebought sims 4.omg base game sims 3 is amazing,so much to do.omg sims 4 is so limited and there such little gameplay.ive been a sims 4 apologist for years but without some of these packs,I cant play sims 4.i also need mods to play sims 4 now and I can never go back to console.but sorry,I cant enjoy base game of sims 4.maybe for a new player but as a life long player,nope
Base game sims 3 should actually be really good as far I hear! Not all the lag that troubles the game with all pack installed 😅
I like both games but would play Sims 3 over sims 4 any day! If Sims 3 would lag so much for me though 😂

I think 60% is the highest I've seen in Denmark as well, only on expansion packs though.

Awwz Michael Bachelor! The nostalgia! It's crazy that Sims 4 has been out 10 years now and it's still a complete mess unfortunately. Sims 3 will always be my fav. I started with the first Sims in 2000, I'm 43 years old now and still with The Sims franchise. I'll probably be playing this insanity on my death bed. 🤣🤦💗 Well... anything Sims 1-3 maaaybe 4. I have no hope for Sims 5.

It's hard for me to pick my favorite though, Sims 3 got it problems, but the open world was hard to let go of.

My worst fear is probably Sims 5 going multiplayer. They can do anything else! Just not multiplayer, don't make the SimCity mistake 😂

2 is definitely nostalgia. I love the lore of it and 3 and the open world of 3 was amazing. The lag however wasn't fun.
4 is beautiful and I've lots of hours building in it but I can't play through the families. My game is soooo laggy and the game is so broken. I'll give my sim a command and they'll stand there literally all (Sims) day and won't do anything. It's unfortunate.

Cap, without the nessacery DLCs your not going to have much fun with the game. Prime example you can't accurately create a punk rock chick Sims character without the right DLC packs.
I think it depends on who you are. Not everybody will create a punk rock chick 😉
That being said I'm not sure I would be entertained enough to go 10 generation in the base game. Even with DLC that's a struggle for me 😂
But if you cannot for some reason afford a game, this is a great free game with quite a lot of features! And the best feature of all... Not battle pass 🫣
I got the sims for free during 2019 (or 2018) when it was free for a few days and had only base game until december 2023. And the game is unplayable (imo) without mods or cc. There is virtually nothing to do and the gameplay loop is so boring. With mods I got playable supeheros, fairies, witches, etc. I got more representation in CAS with fake limbs, playable blindness or muteness, etc. Modders carry the game and when you only have base game/a few packs, they can be the difference between not playing for 6 months or playing everyday.
