My grandma was in the garden in the 70's in Mt. Savage Maryland and she saw a big black cat cross the field. She was afraid to garden after that. There was an episode on monster quest about panthers and one of the sightings was in Frostberg Maryland, which is right next to where my grandma lived. Makes me wonder
I saw an extremely large feline in the corner of a recently harvested field. I presume it was looking for rodents. It looked around 5 feet long. Ive seen some large feral cats but this was bigger. Im still not sure what it was.
Shout out from west Tennessee. I saw one cross a road here once. It was on one side of the road and when it saw me it literally jumped to the ditch on the other side of the road. Made one more jump from the ditch to a bean field and I never saw it again. Couldn't have been a deer unless deer have long black tails. Plus it was a little shorter than a deer. No way it could have been a dog, because dogs don't move like that
BTW, there is a rumor that a voodoo/witch/weird woman use to live in the country here and she didn't live alone. They say she had a large black cat living with her in this shack in a cage. Well, she was living on someone else's property and they made her move. So the legend goes that she released the big cat because she had no way to transport it or keep it where she was going. Idk if it's true, but what I saw wasn't a house cat. And I'm not the only one that has seen it. Also, there is a bamboo patch near where I used to live. And if you go in there during the day you would find lots of bird feathers and some blood. We think the panther may go in there at night and grab birds out of the air or maybe ones that get knocked down by all the chaos. Cause at night birds will get in the bamboo. You can shine a light or just sit and listen for a while and you could hear them flying around and going crazy in there. It's really strange
i was visiting a friend one Christmas. i stayed 2 days. when 1st got there, was sittingn livingroom and they had there xmas tree set up. i had saw something under the tree agaisnt the wall. i thought it was fake because of the length. it was layin down. we were talkin n the next thing i knew, that cat was walkin across the room. i jumped up n said a few words n sat back down. this thing was u knee high n long n jet black all over. i would like to know what kind it was.
I have two black cats and they in no way ever be considered to be a Black Panther. I will say that as a kid there was a rumor of a Black Panther on our road on Lake Claiborne and I remember when we heard it was shot and we went to see and it was just a big black house cat. About 17 pounds but clearly a house cat. I remember being very upset as a kid.
Very interesting, because we have exactly the same phenomenon in the UK, people claiming that they have seen big cats in the British countryside and a high percentage of sightings are of what people always call "Black Panthers" and the media frequently produce articles on new sightings, but almost every single accompanying photo that I've seen and every video that I have seen, and they are almost always taken using a phone, quite clearly shows a black domestic cat, except one video of black dog, likely a Labrador. Yet the people I would call true believers, just flat out refuse to accept, that people are just really rubbish at judging the size of animals that they see. We shouldn't have any big cats at all in the UK, our largest native British cat was the Eurasian Lynx but it has been gone for over 1000 years, we have a tiny population of European Wildcats known as Scottish Wildcats here, because Scotland is the only place that they weren't exterminated, they look like tabby house cats, but a bit larger and more powerful, there were for a while some black ones, known as Kellas Cats, but when one was killed, genetic analysis, showed it was a hybrid with a domestic cat. I've seen wild cat species of all sizes around the world, so I am complete non-believer when it comes to accepting that there are breeding populations of big cats in the UK, if there were it would not be difficult to find the evidence and prove it.. One issue here and in the US, is that the minute you question someone and suggest that they didn't see a big cat, they either think you are accusing them of lying or that you think they are stupid, because how could anyone confuse a house cat for a big cat, yet the numerous videos (excluding hoaxes) suggest that people make this mistake all the time. An excellent video on the Oklahoma Department of Conservation website, illustrates this extremely well, using cutouts of domestic cat, a bobcat and a mountain lion, to show that an alleged mountain lion photo, they were sent, is just of a house cat.
