    EzD3 is such a huge leap forward for drum samples. TT really nailed it this time. Even without an E-Kit the new bandmate and humanize features have completely changed my workflow for getting more realistic drum parts on my tracks. What a time to be alive. Killer playing! Thanks for doing this!

    I have both EZDrummer 2 and Superior Drummer 3, and quite honestly I've never been crazy about the sounds in either of them. The tuning and recording styles in EZ3 in this video sound so much better than the others. So much more natural and less processed sounding. It's not that EZ2 and SD3 sounded fake, because they did sound real. But like real character-less generic drums. These all sound pretty awesome. Big improvement!

    • @drumtecTV
      @drumtecTV  2 года назад +9

      Absolutely, I think so too. The EZD3 kits have tons of character, depth & sound/feel very "3D" to me. Kind regards!

      @CharlieLord 2 года назад +4

      Yeah I found the SD3 core library really one-dimensional and not actually that versatile. I still used 2 and bought SDXs, but I'm really jealous of the EZ3 core!

    • @demonicsweaters
      @demonicsweaters 2 года назад +3

      @@CharlieLord Yeah, I really wanted to like SD3 after spending so much money on it, but I just don't. I've tried customizing to no end too and it just never sits in the mix the way I want. I actually don't think I'll ever buy another toontrack product because of that, even if I do think the EZ3 sounds are good.

    • @rwhitten577
      @rwhitten577 2 года назад +1

      @@demonicsweaters I fully agree. Spent the last few years trying to get SD3 to sit in the mix and finally went back to SSD5. Much better mix-ready kits. SD3 is great if you want to pretend to engineer a real kit.

    • @michaelb9537
      @michaelb9537 2 года назад

      @@rwhitten577 I think that’s the entire sales pitch of SD vs EZD. Raw elements for you to mix and shape vs the pre-processed mix that you control some balance of. I’m really happy with EZD for the get up and go. SD seems to have accurately described itself as something for you to put some more work into with the highly increased versatility. I mean look at the gb size of expansions for each. EZX peaking around 6Gb. SDX starting around 150Gb

    Hey Man, amazing drumming. the kit just sounds PHENOMENAL with those sounds! i've just hooked up EZD3 to my roland td-50. it's on the lowest latency setting, TD-50 preset. i've done everything correctly following many guides. however the velocity is absolutely ALL over the place. all the videos i've watched have all said just basically plug and play and it sounds like what you're playing. mine sounds HORRIFIC. i have no idea what to do! thanks!!!!!

    • @drumtecTV
      @drumtecTV  Год назад

      Thanks Joel! Hm, wow that sounds weird. Everything working fine if you play with TD-50 internal sounds / all trigger settings are set up appropriately? You are right, what comes out of the midi outputz should be more or less the "same" that's being used to trigger the TD-50 internal sounds, so with some minor adjustments it should really be kind of plug & play with EZD, using the correct midi mapping preset. Kind regards!

      You quite literally just have to get a USB a to b cable, download a DAW and drag your preferred drum library into it, maybe install some midi drivers while you're at it and midi mapping etc won't be an issue with up to date libraries.
      There are a bunch of tutorials right here on RUclips holding your hand through the whole process. You shouldn't feel anxious about it, it is very easy once you just sit down and spend an hour on it.

    The single Sounds are really great, but I have the same issue as with the Hansa SDX. The alternate Samples (for the same articulation) are sounding much too similar. And that makes it sound very unreal. You hear this very good on the snare rolls. Old BfD Libaries dont have this Problem and sound so much more real, even if they are 10 years old.

    Can anyone add for me the settings needed to do this on my MacBook Air? Do you need a DAW? Is it better to use an audio interface? I’m looking to use EZD3 for live performances, but new to the whole mix and match with edrums. I will be using a Roland TD27.

    • @fVNzO
      @fVNzO 2 года назад +1

      I think you need a daw but just get a free one. Ezdrummer 2 had a standalone version though but you needed to mod an XML file to get proper scaling which sucked.
      I think they all have proper presets, so if you haven't changed midi mapping in the module it should be plug and play.
      Also i think on newer modules you just need USB. The big bottleneck should be the cpu and drivers so if you have a modern pc i don't think you'll have an issue or need an audio interface.
      Off course for maximum performance and reliability some people prefer a pcie interface which will technically be better than USB I believe. But it's negligible and is a huge investment, so mostly for users with existing gear/microphones etc.

    • @tallnotdeaf

      No, you need to turn local control off within the module.

    • @drumtecTV
      @drumtecTV  2 года назад +3

      Not the sounds per se, but the accuracy of triggering/playability and additional trigger features like positional sensing for example still depend on the module (although EZD is not supporting positional sensing anyhow, but Superior Drummer does) :) kind regards!
