Me too. So happy it's actually coming out to PS4 in the first place. I had a PS3 and I had those games but I had to sell them to get a PS4 so that I can play KH2.8, KH3, and FFXV. Felt like a sacrifice. Now with this release, for me it's like I get to play those games again! On my current PS4 console which is even better! Sacrifice was worth it.

It's not bad in theory that it comes out, but people like me that were burned by 1.5 and 2.5's glitches and bugs (most of which were SO OBVIOUS to find) makes me not want to support these ports the second time around.
And then explain to them that the PS3 ports are horrid and terrible.

I have been a fan of the game ever since it came out 15 years ago. I never got to play Birth by Sleep so now I have a chance to do so. :3 I'm happy SE decided to bring the remaster to PS4 as I never got a PS3 either.

Thank you so much Dean for opening my eyes to the idea of 1.5+2.5 PS4. I was one of those people not happy with this collection because we already had them and been living in the past for the KH series for a few years now. However, watching this video and hearing your opinion and facts has drastically shown me that I was wrong. So much I didn't think about or care because I wanted new content really bad but after watching this video I feel silly and admitting ashamed for thinking that way about my favorite gaming series. You have made me extremely excited for this collection when I previously wasn't thank you.

I was debating if I should get the PS3 for 1.5 and 2.5. Then they made this announcement. Saved me a lot of money (I already had a PS4).
Trust me, even if you see the PS3 versions being cheaper, wait for this version. 2FM on 2.5 has so many glaring issues it's a giant mess (and 1FM letting you skip cutscenes might crash the game). I'd wait a week to see if those bugs are ironed out in the PS4 version, then totally get that.
UltimaKeyMaster I don't plan on buying the PS3, so I won't be getting that version. I've heard of the problems as well. Also, the PS4 version will be 60 FPS, so I have zero reasons to buy the PS3 version at this point.

I bet without a doubt, that the entire collection will eventually move onto Xbone. It's just the smartest business decision for Square, though I bet also that it will be upwards to a year after KH3.
alan simba ff15 sold 20 percent on Xbox and 80 percent on ps4. We will probably see the same thing with kh3. Maybe even lower.

I totally agree with you! Sadly I can't experience the PS4 games because Mom says no more consoles (someone stole our PS2) but I grew up on PSX, PS2, as well as PS3 and I bought all of the KH games available for PS2&3. People with a PS4, you're fucking lucky as hell!

Ya, they better go with the difficulty trophies stacking like they did with 2.5 (1.5 you had to beat the game three times on each difficulty to get each trophy related difficulty, instead of just playing on Proud and unlocking all 3 of them).
***** Trust me, I know. I'm literally just about to fight Marluxia on my Beginner playthrough as I type this, which will leave me with just the Sora Standard playthrough left (I did both on Proud initially and did Riku's difficulty trophies first since his story mode is quicker), and I currently have Proud Mode Riku up to level 80. I just consider Sora and Riku's playthroughs as one playthrough though since playing one only gives half of the story. I don't even want to think about the Beginner and Proud playthroughs I have left for KH1...
1.5 certainly has more stupid useless trophies than 2.5 like "have X amount of money or moogle points on hand even though you'd have no reason to do so" or changing the deck 500 seperate times in Re:CoM or whatever.
Platting Birth By Sleep was much less of a pain in my ass (Mysterious Figure was a bullshit boss though), and I imagine the same will be true with KH2 and eventually 0.2 BBS and Chi...and hopefully 3D (although I'd bet they'll do stupid trophies attached to playing with the Dream Eaters).

Kingdom Hearts I isn't as bad as the others. I'm sitting at 98%. Looking at you gummy blueprint. My first play through was proud and I finished it 100%. That left the standard, beginner, no continue, time limit and staying with the kingdom key oh the gummy trophy as well. So I did standard while I did beginner. With beginner I just the time limit no continue and not changing the key blade at once.
Oh yes, it's a great idea to keep Kingdom Hearts 1.5/2.5 a PlayStation exclusive when Square Enix could have also release the collections on the Xbox One so the Xbox gamers could catch up on the convoluted story before playing Kingdom Hearts 3. But hey, who cares about Xbox and the potential fans the series could have gotten. Missed opportunity. Square Enix are dumb.

I had a PS3 any way for other games but yeah I get what you mean. you buy something that is available then all of a sudden they tell you AFTER you bought something you already have on a different plat form. yeah that does in a way piss a lot of people off especially thanks to misguided announcements.
I think they do that on purpose to make more money. I mean I like Square Onix and what they do but everything I see what they do is all about money grabbing which is not supporting the people at all, just their company.

they had said there were "no plans" for Dream Drop Distance HD. Now we are about to get 2.8. They had also said there were "no plans" to put 1.5 and 2.5 on PS4. Now we're also expecting that. At this point, I would say "no plans" in Square language directly translates to "it's gonna happen soon".
I do see your point though, although I've never had these problems too much, yeah I can't overlook the fact that the PS3 versions could've used some more fine tuning

You're one of the lucky bunch, then. Doesn't change the fact that these problems do exist in your copy, somewhere in the code and you could encounter them any day now.
the only problem i got was the Xemnas boss battle in 2.5 and the long drive and loading times

I haven't played Kingdom Hearts since I was 9-10 years old, and this re-release gave me the opportunity to play the rest of the series and beat KH1 for the very first time. And with your videos, I was able to beat Sephiroth and Unknown, bosses I never even got to see when I was a kid. Thank you so much for the help & keep up the good work, consider me subbed.

No it isn't. Xbox is known for inconsistent Japanese releases and KH3 co-director Tai Yasue said that KH3 can be enjoyed as a single experience without playing the past games.

People seem to forget that 1.5+2.5 on PS4 will largely benefit the speedrunning community as well. Since PS4 requires data installs, loading times will be reduced significantly (in theory). With a PS4 Pro and SSD drive, those loading times will be reduced down even further. In FFXV, there is more than a 50% decease in loading times when using an SSD vs the stock Pro HDD. This potential decrease in loading times can help speedrunners set new records and PB's without having to worry about drive loading issues, crashes, and loading screen issues. This new remix is a win win for everyone
I think people just either don't know or don't care. I care though! I just don't want people to write off the problems as "speedrunner problems", because I honestly believe this is everyones problem.

they wouldn't sell too well, RPGs and Japanese games were never big sellers on the XOne (the xbox brand was always a failure on sales on japan), that's why both FF15 and FFType-0 sold 80% of their copies on PS4 while only 20% of the units were sold on the XOne, if you don't believe me use google and you'll see.

Great vid, Dean! Normally, I am against remasters of remastered games but clearly 1.5 and 2.5 needs to be on PS4, only a sole benefit for everyone.

I really can't wait to get those remakes on the PS4, even thought I have them already on the PS3. Just thinking about all the games running in 60fps (at least) and having hopefully all the bugs from the past fixed, makes it even better.

Duuuuuude! When the Drive Form is loading you can use that as an exploit during super bosses. You're invincible during the loading sequence which is awesome!

That's...that's not an exploit, you're *supposed* to be invincible while it's loading. Really, you shouldn't have to be testing that, because you should only need to load for enough time for enemies to *still be in the air* from the explosion by the time it's done. That's how it worked in the PS2 versions.
UltimaKeyMaster It's an exploit as the times you would usually last in the bubble are minimal, so when the game tries loading in the form you choose, you usually can wait in the loading process till the boss is done with their attack. It's bad programming on their part but it has its uses

TopHatLucario it really isn't an exploit though, the longer loading times make it worse, when you go into a drive form, you get invincibility frames yes, but all enemies are also launched into the air, the transformation is supposed to be finished BEFORE they hit the ground so you can counterattack, but because the loading times are longer, that means it doesn't work as intended, so even if the long load times give you more invincibility frames, if an enemy is still attacking you by the time the transformation is over, you're gonna get hit, so the longer load times in no way benefits the player at all
Never played any kingdom hearts always wanted to get into the series. I'm putting Down the 110 dollars to get into the series hope I don't end up regretting it.
Ouch! I did notice some laggings while playing 2.5, but I never noticed them to be THAT bad!! In that case, I sincerely hope they fix all those bugs in the PS4 version, 'cause I will buy it and I want to see everything and feel as if I really was in the game!

I am definitely glad 1.5 and 2.5 are going to be on the PS4 for new fans to start, and I agree on your statements on why this is a good idea. While I don't remember running into major issues on both compilations, except the load times and Xemnas final boss fight in 2.5, I am still planning on getting these games again. However, I wanna wait and see what you and the rest of the community think if they made major improvements for these new ports.

I'll only get 1.5 and 2.5 AGAIN for PS4 if in my eyes they do enough graphically and maybe content wise. 60FPS.....maybe
1080p 60fps, possible data install nullifying load times and more memory in the PS4 (8GB compared to PS3's 256MB) will also remove the long Drive/Summon/D-Link buffers, potentially making them as quick or quicker than the original PS2/PSP versions. They're also having to recalculate the physics and animations in every game (except Birth by Sleep, because the original animations were designed for 60fps and then recalculated on the spot to 30fps), to which the frame time issues, such as Xemnas' RC not showing, will most likely be fixed as well. Chances are you want this version of 1.5 and 2.5.
i got into kh when i was 12 but i got into it by watching all the cutsceanes and gameplay on youtube cause i never had a ps3, the fact that now im 16 and i have a ps4 and im gonna be able to finally play all the games makes me feel happy that ill finally be able to expierience the game

I will be salty af if 1.5 + 2.5 releases, and there's somehow even MORE issues with the ps4 version.
Ausar0 They do have to do recodes for the animations in order to be in 60 FPS so I would imagine that they would have had to fix those other issues as well to make it smoother. I mean this is square enix, if the fans arn't complaining hard enough about it then they will probably leave it be. I mean The only reason Final Fantasy 15 is being updated like crazy is because of fan feedback, otherwise square enix would have just focused on getting the DLC finnished. Anyways my point is the reason that 1.5 and 2.5 weren't patched on the PS3 is because there wasn't enough complaints to give square an insensitive to fix it.

Really great video! Honestly, I've only played HALF of a kingdom hearts game when I was younger. I loved it but never had chance to finish any of them, so seeing a full collection on one console is brilliant news for me. I can't wait to buy it!
Gonna play devil's advocate for "nothing" being wrong with it. Yes, it's great that it's all on one system but where the fuck was the effort with 1.5 and 2.5? There's no reason the Skip Cutscene glitch in 1FM or the ENGLISH 2FM glitches should exist at all, so my question is why do they not just PATCH the games? I'm not getting treated like a moron for paying for 1.5 and 2.5 only to see "If you want Final Mix WITHOUT glitches, you're paying for KH1 and 2 a *third* time."

I got through KH1, ReChain as both characters, all of 2 and every goddamn story of BBS only to find my 2.5 game *will not run* 2FM at all now. It boots me to the main menu. The disc is fucking FINE and let me play the ENTIRE STORY and will ALWAYS boot up BBS, but conveniently when I finally have the save file raring to get to the 2FM bosses I've been paying for these damn ports to get to, I'm not allowed to boot the game up anymore. Sorry Square, I don't trust you with these KH ports and I'll be legitimately shocked if you don't litter Dream Drop Distance HD with bugs out the ass.

Most of that salt comes from 2FM not wanting to boot up anymore, really. I bought both these collections just to naturally progress to that and when I finally get there, it's permanently broken.
I think it's great that 1.5 and 2.5 are coming to PS4 but I'm disappointed that Square Enix isn't fixing all the bugs and glitches in the games that were on the PS3 version. It's just being remastered in 60 FPS but those little things aren't being fixed :(
We don't know whether the bugs will be fixed or not, but it's still very possible they will be

I don't think that it's really the type of thing they'd talk about when promoting a new release, so just because they haven't said it it doesn't mean they won't do it (just obviously it means we can't be sure that they will)
KH1FM on PS3 has never crashed for me. Ever. None of the others have crashed for me either.
And I didn't have any problems with 2.5 either, aside from Sora taking forever to go into Drive forms. Never froze either.
Either y'all have damaged discs, or maybe I have some sort of legendary rare copy of the game that actually works.
Load times didn't bug me, but maybe because I'm just used to longer load times because I played Dragonball Xenoverse and Sonic 2006 to death.
Yeah they're flawed, but I'm having too much fun with the extra bosses and content to really care. I am NOT ok with these flaws, all I'm saying is that they don't happen on every copy of the game. But still, I do agree that the fact that these flaws exist at all are unacceptable.

Trust me. The load times. Could be much much worse. It's really only a difference of a few seconds. At least it's not as long as the PS2 ports of Spyro:Enter The Dragonfly or Crash Bandicoot Wrath of Cortex.

Drive Forms Loading.
Enemies moving while your form loads doesn't ruin your combos because you can't even start them until the form loads anyway and most forms will zoom straight to your enemies when attacking anyway.

I switched to Ps4 after being under microsoft's brainwashing. So I never had a Ps3 and I am so happy to see ALL of Kingdom Hearts finally on my console!
I cannot wait to play 1.5 and 2.5 myself. I haven't played kingdom hearts since my Ps2 broke but soon I'll have the whole collection on one system!
i already have the ps3 ones of 1.5 and 2.5 so and i already beat them. idk if i'm gonna get the ps4 ones. (if they remastered 358/2 days and recoded then i will 100% buy it) but besides unchained x and dream drop distance i've played everyone to completion. (another reason i don't know if i'll get the ps4 1.5 and 2.5 is because i'm the only one in my house who plays it)

But thanks for this, I've had so many people who are like "The load times aren't that bad, I don't have an issue with them" and in fact recently I had someone say that since he doesn't ever "die" he doesn't experience the bad load times. Like, really? Anyways I hope they fix all this, I'm glad people are speaking in favor of it because I'm looking forward to it as well.

theres not a single thing negative about this. honestly I'm such a kingdom hearts fan that the only reason I still had my ps3 was because my KH games were on it. the minute I found out that my one long time wish of the entire KH series going to PS4, I sold my ps3 and all its games. as for square enix its the smartest move on their part because they are going to bring back so many past fans who gave up on KH since it went to multiple consoles, and now theyre going to have a TON of new time buyers because youre basically getting 4 games and 2 movies for the price of one. if one of my friends recommended a series and it came with all that content for that cheap id def get it.

my only gripe is haveing payed for the ps2 KH games as well as ps3 and now just to play it on the ps4 ide have to pay again, that is where i feel most people have negativity towards the release. i was disappointed with 2.8 ut hey at least it looks cooler and has more content right? better not be any DLC..

I think I remember fiery Joker Mentioning in his Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix LP that Kingdom Hearts 1 did crash on him during the credits and never could see post credit scenes.

Lahmi I had like one crash in 2.5. A lot of these just seem to be luck of the draw in most cases, bizarre as that is for a digital product.
I have NEVER had a crash on my copies (1.5 and 2.5) although i do get the drive problem, xemnas glitch, and load times. thats about it, no crashes

Random thoughts about the argument of not having these on Xbox because they wouldn't sell: Why is the FF13 trilogy there? And FF15? And KINGDOM HEARTS 3? Square is already CONVINCED they'll sell enough to warrant putting those main games on Xbox already.
Hell, the only reason A Realm Reborn isn't already on Xbox is Microsoft's idiotic reasoning that the game MUST let you filter out non-Xbox Live players (in a game that is PERMANENTLY cross PS3/4/PC on all servers).
The crashes barely ever occurred to me. loading screens don't bother me to much. But to have the drive form load times and final Xemnas glitch be fixed would make it completely worth it for me, even if they had to effect the kh3 development in a big way "which I don't believe".
I am used to bad hd remasters. There are few that are actually just as good or better than the original. So usually I don't really care. But just the fact that these collections are the only way for us to play a completely locilized version of the final mix's makes me want them to be as good as possible.
And then there are ofcourse the benefits for new players, and the fact that it is simply convenient to have all of them on one system.
I am all for this collection.
Emptilion Even the drive form loads and Xemnas glitch don't really bother me. The lack of updated translations in the menus are more of a problem because items and keyblades have different stats and effects now and the English team didn't realize that when translating the new material.
Wait...where is that apparent with the menu translation? The only weird thing I've ever seen about the menus is that Limit Form in Sora's stats say "Cost: 3" instead of "Drive Points consumed: 3" for some odd reason.

As UltimaKeyMaster pointed out, the only typo (mistranslation; the original katakana reads "Cost: X" on the PS2/Japanese 2.5 versions) is regarding Limit Form in the menu. Stat updates have already been reflected and abilities have been changed on the appropriate Keyblades. Sweet Memories had 0 Attack 0 Magic in original KH2 but all versions of 2FM, including the international 2.5 versions, reflect the changes to the magic stat (4 instead of 0), and ability change from "Lucky Lucky" to "Drive Converter".
Welp, this is going to be the second longest rant I made on RUclips.
I love the Kingdom Hearts series, it has been one of my most favorite series/franchises since I was 13 years old. I remember when the concept of a Final Fantasy and Disney collaboration coming up, I thought it was stupid. I was 13, I wanted to be a "grown-up". However, the reviews started kicking in and everyone praised Kingdom Hearts. The only bad thing about it was the camera and let's be all honest here, it wasn't THAT bad XD I'd go on to buy Chain of Memories for the GBA, KH2, BBS, DDD, 358/2 days, etc. etc...all because it had the words "Kingdom Hearts" on the title.
Which leads me into the rant.
Where is Kingdom Hearts 3? Now, don't get me wrong, I understand that a company like Square Enix needs to make money in order to give us content and good games. I don't even mind the advent of 2.8 because it gives people who couldn't/wouldn't get a 3DS to play DDD, it gives us Aqua's perspective, and a cool movie. But re-releasing 1.5 and 2.5 for the PS4 to me is just lazy and a way for SE to milk money out of people all because it has the name "Kingdom Hearts" in the title. I feel a lot of us don't care for KH2 being in 1080p 60fps or anything like that, we just want KH3. Least I don't. That and add on to the fact that Nomura already stated that KH1-3 is the "Xehanort Trilogy", meaning yes, more KH games. While that is not a bad thing the way it is being handled honestly deflates any hype I have for future content in the KH series/franchise.
TL;DR: I just want Kingdom Hearts 3 dammit.
