Yes we learned that as well. Our work around is using the wax stamp on the beautiful envelope then placing it inside of another slightly larger (cheaper) envelope. The address and postage on the outer envelope. Similar to the proper way to send a formal invite.
In New Zealand, we haven't had that trouble... my daughter and her friend sent each other wax sealed letters for a few years. I don't think any were damaged. Enjoy it!

What a cool box! Be warned if you wax seal a letter for the mail they can reject it. It can cause other letters to tear in the sorter machine
