どこを切り取っても絵になる風景と出会えるのが、祇園・東山。お茶屋さんが建ち並ぶ花見小路、川沿いの柳が美しい祇園白川、清水寺への北からの参道としてにぎわう二年坂～三年坂など、石畳の散歩道はいずれも京情緒たっぷり。
一度はお参りしてみたい有名社寺もあちこちにあります。2020年は八坂神社の本殿が国宝に登録され、もちろん、法観寺の五重塔、清水寺は必見です。いまこそじっくり歩いてみたい、京都観光の定番エリアです。

Gion/Higashiyama is a place where you can find picturesque scenery no matter where you look. The stone-paved promenades are all filled with the atmosphere of Kyoto, such as Hanamikoji, which is lined with tea shops, Gion Shirakawa, where the willows along the river are beautiful, and Ninenzaka to Sannenzaka, which is a busy approach to Kiyomizu Temple from the north.
There are many famous shrines and temples that you should visit at least once. In 2020, the main shrine of Yasaka Shrine was registered as a national treasure, and of course Hokanji's five-storied pagoda and Kiyomizu-dera are must-sees. This is a classic area for sightseeing in Kyoto that you'll want to take some time to walk around.
