I've had one on my flatbed for over 2 years and covered the lower 48 with it and never had issues with tools moving, rusting, or anything. Best tool box. I find myself still grabbing from that box in shop vs. My shop box.
I used this box in my service truck. It made it easy to grab the right sized socket or wrench easily. I carried a magnetic light for use at nite and that worked great. To keep torx or allen sockets, I screwed a few of the cheap metal socket organizers to the socket area between the small sizes. When it’s not in my truck I have it on top of their 41” box to keep all my other tools organized. When I need to hit the road, I can slide it into my truck and load the storage area up with additional tools. I keep ratchets, screw drivers, and extensions together. It is sealed very well! Mine had a foot of snow on it and opened without issues. The seals were able to keep the dust out, which was a shock to me. Yes they are expensive, but worth every dollar.
Benjamin Ross I would say they are pricey but compared to what’s on the market now and the specialized application they did a fair job pricing it. If you are in the market for this set up, I think the price is acceptable but to someone really not needing this style it may be a bit out of budget. But the concept looks great.
Great Video. I have LA400R (RED) which has been a great tool box for me (~9yrs). Wish Montezuma still had color selection. I move mine from the garage to the truck all the time. I use a wire cart for moving the tool box around and just slide it on to the back of the pick up box. It fits under the Tonneau cover. Everything easy to grab. Getting ready to buy second box. Was debating on another LA400B (Black) or XL450. What nice about the XL450, is the wrenches all face forward. For the 400's, some wrenches face backwards. For sockets that don't fit the pegs, just lay them on top in between the other sockets (yeap it gets busy but it works for me). They stay right there when the cover is closed. It keeps everything dry when you working in the weather. The smaller studs on my box hold up very well. You can put a lot of sockets in these tool boxes.
Great box, I watch every episode you post. I would like to see you close it and lock it and then tilt it onto its front and then back up to show how it retains the stuff. you could lift it up with a chain hoist/engine hoist and then shake it all around. that would be pretty neat. keep up the good work.
Granted this video is 5 years old at this time in 2024. My dad owns some of the more original Montezuma CPL boxes. Have to go back to the 90's when they had flip over latches that you padlocked. Driver side on the farm flatbed is the tools (no hydraulics just up and side slide to hold the lid in place) and the passenger side is a Bolt bin.
great idea for a shop and maybe for heavy equipment mechanics. Who can bring there tool cart or there work truck close to machine or car there working on. Another great review thanks.
If you are in a shop, the Triangle work great with an Utility Cart. You can have a better idea with this video: ruclips.net/video/pZ9EHNVoYYw/видео.html
Ive seen these and have given it some thought. From the automotive side i can say this: if you are stationary on 1 or 2 bays then yes this is for you. I think its neat but see this more for the mobile guys. I knew a guy who had this set up with the bottom 5 or 6 drawer. He liked it.
If you are in a shop, the Triangle work great with an Utility Cart. Look at this: www.montezumastorage.com/collections/triangle_toolboxes_and_utility_carts/products/36-x-17-steel-toolbox
This would be such a fun fairly easy build. I wanna make one 50 inches wide for the back of my work truck and put it on sliders to unlock and pull to the tailgate!
Just finishing up a box for my flatbed that is about 75L x 20W x 24T with a 40 inch slider that comes out one side with this style of organization on it. Should be sweet for the road.
Awesome for a mobile tech like myself. I see my new Christmans & birthday gift with the larger 41 inch model as i reconfigure my oddessy (yes, a Honda) to be more efficient.
Hi, everyone! Thank you for you comments and thanks to WorkshopAddict for the review. You can see more about the Triangle on our website: www.montezumastorage.com/
Show us when your done organizing the tool box. I like the design it makes everything visible only bad part is you have a large footprint and a lot of space that could be gained by making it rectangular would be better if similar design used in side and get use of space above footprint. I hope you understand what i am talking about, as that is the only real flaw to this style triangle design.
I think this box is really ideal for someone who has limited space in front of the box so you don't have to fight with the drawers. for example my "shop" is a 4 foot wide storage closet so being able to stand in front of this while looking in it would be great whereas with even an 18" deep box with extended drawers there is basically no room in front.
poser gladiator I wasn’t talking about putting drawers in it . All boxes have a foot print as this does on the bottom which takes up that 18 space but you loose the 18 inch part on the top if there were a way to utilize the space above the foot print somehow. The top goes through that space when lifted it might be nice to have a little extra room. I like these boxes the way they made them is nice.
Ha I just watched your second video and what did I see. The tools falling out so what was that all about ? It looked like they were jumping out of the box . Oh and it was your video it showed you yes you opening the box and the tools going all over the place .

It's really mission specific of sorts. Will be a hard sell at around 500 bucks for the average joe. Not saying it isn't worth it but only to those with that specific need. External storage. I love it personally. I want one without the lid or with a taller lid just to roll around on a cart in my shop
Totally understand it. We have 8 different models starting at $349.99 with FREE SHIPPING to the contiguous US. www.montezumastorage.com/collections/triangle_toolboxes_and_utility_carts
YOU ARE WRONG GOJOE BREATH!! I have 2 on my welding truck, I do pipeline and equipment repair in places that BAD roads and NO roads, and dozer trails are the rule, These 2 boxes have outlived 4 trucks, with NO CLEAN UP NEEDED! The tools stay right where you put them, trust me, I used to have my tools in a Snap-on road chest, it lasted 2Yrs before it self destructed, I have 12YRS on these and the ONLY complaint I have is the need of a lite inside. I ended up taking a couple of led tag kites and put one in each box, problem solved. So get you one, you'll love it.
John Bailey I think you missed some key notes during this video. From what I can see it looks like this could be rolled off a mountain and still retain the tools in their designated areas. Definitely take a closer look.
Montezuma just saw there second video and tools fell out . Its there video not mine live on video and tools fell out not even on a truck yet so it only gets worse from there .
John Salazar What kind of sockets are you using? I work with heavy equipment and couldn’t imagine my sockets not fitting. Yes I have a few specialty sockets that may not fit the pegs but I think they could be stored underneath in the rare case that I needed them.
@@truckerpeterose My concern was that I was not going to be able to get all of them onto the supplied pegs. Interesting, solid review. Looks good for those who need it..love the channel 👍
my plan is to get a 72" bottom and put the bigger version of this one on top to speed up clean up and tool aquisition time for common tools

That thing is bad ass
looks nice can you read the sizes of the sockets easy or do you have to pick it up see size and put it back when you took the wrong one
Some you can read, some you would pick up. But it is easy as you get used to the sizes fast.
Would be a nice set up for the race trailer
That is what we are thinking!!!
I've been wanting one of these for years now and my local cal-ranch has 2 sizes in stock
We like this. It is new to us.

Who cares what you use for a service truck. You get the job done, that's what matters right.
What are the two box end wrenches on each peg? Are they the same size or one with a size up behind it?
Wow cool bit of kit 😎👍
How strong are those smaller socket studs? They look like they could bend and break off easily but it's tough to tell from the video.
They can be bent with force. No way they would bend under normal use. You fall into it with all your weight, they will bend.
It needs a couple more rows for impact sockets
imo it needs stringers for pallet forks.
Will the snap on soft grip ratchet fit in there in those holes
There are different size holes and I am sure one would fit it

Not good for bumpy lease roads
I looked into those a year or so ago. Decided it did not have enough room to hold the sockets I needed.
