- POV video showing beauty and features of trail from Sylvan Lake Trailhead in Custer State Park South Dakota through the Black Elk Wilderness to the top of Black Elk Peak. (7242 ft.) Many jaw-dropping views!
Parking Pass ($20 good for one week) required at entrance to Sylvan Lake.
Incredibly beautiful spot; go early in the day to get good parking spot near the lake, Sylvan Lake is also the trailhead for other trails. Bathrooms and snack bar nearby.
As someone who lives mountain climbing and lives in Minnesota is such a pain that I have to go multiple states over to reach the Rockies. I gotta move to the west someday.
Did this last year for the first time....doing it again in a week. It is harder than people think.
Good stuff!
As you know, well worth it! Enjoy!
Cool vid. Need to get up to South Dakota! I like those rocks jutting out from the trees. Super cool. Thanks for posting! Will be following!
Thanks! I've been on a few beautiful hikes; this is one of the most beautiful I've seen. Can't really capture the splendor and majesty of this place with a camera.
@@SHredWorld my girlfriend and I were not prepared for this when we went on June 10. It took us 2h57m just to get to the fire tower. Then another 1h36m to get down. I have exact times because I was prepared with good GPS maps and tracking but not for the elevation coming from Minnesota!
It's such a beautiful hike I don't think it matters how long it takes. And your time is not bad. I'm sure lot of people take longer.
Thanks for this video. We are going soon. This is going to be a big help. What month were you there
June. Enjoy!
Round trip, from trail entrance to trail exit, how long do you suspect it was?
with rest and photo time, about 4 hours.
Have you been to the highest points in any other states?
Interesting! Had never really thought about it. After some thought, no, no other. You?
