All true, yet emphasis also comes not just from predetermination on HOW to say a line to give it a certain meaning, but from CHARACTER and intention as it relates to the situation and circumstance. Otherwise, random inflection or emphasis on individual words doesn't always work and it can come across as "acting."
Yes! I used to think too much about how I would say something. Now I only focus on my character. Who I am, my point of view and why I’m saying what I am. If you’re locked into your character and being truthful to that character, the words will naturally come out the way they should. Only then can you tweak things like speed or pauses.
@@DavidJacobsvo And it took me so long to learn just that. I'd know who my character was SUPPOSED to be intellectually, but then I'd just go back to being "myself" and not that character withIN myself. The writer didn't write "me." The writer wrote a character. We're told these days "you are enough" and "just be real." But I'm only as good and as BELIEVEABLE (as opposed to "real") as my character investment, including his POV on the world, the circumstance, and the other character. And WHY I'm even talking to begin with (which is usually a response to something someone else has said or done). This all probably comes easier to others than to myself, but I was a very late starter.
One of the most emphasized aspects of acting and voice acting that I have been taught and told is making my words “stick” or “land”. I had a habit of overly emphasizing verbiage that truly carried little weight in terms of conveying the crux of the point I wanted to make. I also used to speak with similar patterns because my voice is in the deeper register and I thought that alone made my words have more depth. Thank you for these very valid points as well as reminders.
The one skill that will NEVER be useless (no matter what kind of AI cyber-scape we end up in) and is useful in literally EVERY SINGLE aspect of life is communication. Being better understood because you convey yourself properly and persuasively will help you sell, love and inspire to the highest standard.
You are correct, communication is key. It’s affected every area of our life and the world. It’s waged war, brought peace, created love, inspired the masses, and so much more. Communication has been and will always be one of the most important skills anyone can have. Nobody ever complained about being too good of a communicator. A.I. cannot replace human connection when it is face to face, because well… it requires humans.
One day acting aficionados will look back on your contribution to the acting community as being gold standard 🔥🔥🔥 you always have something more to offer me. ❤❤❤
Yes. One of my early acting coaches called it "punch" words. We pick which words to punch and practice which one works best for the dialogue. Good stuff 👍
Glad it was helpful! People like you is what makes me continue and happy to make these videos. Our voices are so important and how we communicate can completely change a situation or even our lives. Glad this video was able to find you 👊🏼
If you put the emphasis on... I never SAID then you create more intrigue because you bring into contention doubt about on the sayers own words. Everything else becomes superfluous. Drama is created by attenuating 'conflict'. There's no better conflict than introducing the element of self doubt.
@@TheActorsAcademy Yes. It does depend on where emphasis may be put. For instance, and as they say... manipulation (generally speaking) is about giving someone else the idea or impression that what a person says is their own idea to begin with. 'Gaslighting' on the other hand is about introducing 'doubt' by making someone believe that what they say is not necessarily true. Not to sidetrack from your intention in making your video. Best
I love acting i wrote 2 screenwritings and i’m in the middle of my third one The first one is historical The second one is comical And the third one is about a sport
Everyone does have their own voice. Some are higher, some lower, and some simply monotone. Do you find when you talk about something passionate that it is still the same or are there changes (even slight changes)?
Our voices are like cars. Sometimes, what helps the most is accepting what we have and learning to work with it. Our voices will always seem to us than others will perceive it. Have you ever played with the emphasis before?

It would be cool to see a video where you speak about some of the roles that you've played and your preparation for playing those roles

Interesting take! It’s true, depending on where you put the emphasis, the meaning and feeling can completely change!

Private coaching? Minnect link doesn't work.
Strange. Thanks for letting me know. Here is the link app.minnect.com/expert/ActorsAcademy if you search me on Minnect you will also find me.
My biggest issue. I have a very monotoned voice, almost stoner like with out the fun personality of a Spicoli or Tommy Chong
