- In this video, I talk about the life of one of the greatest chess players of all time and analyze one of his games!
Mikhail Tal was one of the best chess players in the history of the game. He became the world champion at the age of 23 and could not stand a game where he didn't sacrifice any piece!
He played chess even when he was supposed to be in the hospital just a month before his death. "Even though he might not have been the best, he was the favourite!"

I hope you guys enjoyed this video because I was learning After Effects from scratch to add some improvements to the video 🙌 I would appreciate any feedback in the comments so I know what to add or change! ♥
Yeah, those "improved" from boring (for me personally) because you made it for rather weak chess players (which is fine), to absolutely unbearable. :(
Scramble, Trafalgar Chess, and Gaugamela Chess, are three great chess variants to play against Stockfish.
I analyzed one of Tal's game with chess engine and his result was fantastic. The engine said it was perfect. :O I believe Tal is the best chess player of all time. Even Magnus, has blunder in its move by engine's analysis
His last chess move was Ke1 (The king returning to its starting position). A poetic conclusion to a beautiful career.
did he win
@@zacnewford yes
Imagine playing Ke1 and your opponent resigning after that move. That is dank stuff.
his last game was against Garry Kasparov and his last move in that game was Qf3 not Ke1.
returning to e1 is nothing compared to getting to e8, where the king promotes itself to a queen
Winning the Latvian championship earned him the title of Latvian Chess Champion. Who would have thunk???
"Thunk" 💀
lets start using thunk from now on lmao, sound cool
@@ravighate2682 You really thunk so

@@grippingstranger9021 I'm Kramnik, and I don't like you "cheater" 🤬 I mean statistically improbable, I never said "cheater"
“There are two types of sacrifices: correct ones and mine."
So in short Tal trolled everyone even before the word “ trolled “ existed..
Man Tal is my absolute hero. Playing and thriving under constant physical pain I admire him so much
Do you Paul Morphy
Fischer was friends with Tal and was the only one to visit him in hospital
Stop this non sense. He wasn't the only one.
"There are 2 types of sacrifices correct ones and mine" Mikhail tal
Back then FIDE award the GM title without "norms" like today. In the case of Tal, the awarding of the title on the spot, without further tests, was fully justified.
Stockfish?? It's in the title, but I missed finding any reference in the actual video.
There was 1 game where Tal thought of a winning move sequence that stockfish couldn't find. it's featured on the "Stokfish" channel.
There are also multiple game where it has to think for a bit to understand how good his position is.
The narrator is stockfish .....so as to respect and preserve the meaning of thumbnail 😅
It is a very brief account of his life and career as a chess player which is ok, if that is what you intended, but I feel it would have been nice to have shown that game against Kasparov, and maybe a special game from his early years as a junior in the beginning of the video.
Thanks for the feedback! I agree that including the game against Kasparov and other elements you mentioned would have added a lot of value to the video. I'll make sure to work on those aspects as I'm still learning.
Magnus once said he would beat Tal and Fischer. Well young champ, I tell you what. Tal would've taken you to the forest where 2+2=5 and completely destroyed you.
It may have been if in his days Tal had access to engines, but just no. Not even peak Fischer could beat a Peak Magnus with the insights of Sockfish tactics.
@@rowanwild8445 you simply cant compare chess players from different decades that easily.
@@rowanwild8445peak Fischer against peak Magnus would study the current game when there is more knowledge on the game and more stuff analysed. But relatively to the knowledge of the hame Fischer is stronger than Magnus probabiy, Magnus would not win classical games against Fabiano to get a world championship and multiple world championships suvh as the one with Yan and the detail multiple hours game were not convincing on showing winning game similar to Fischer.
Overall similar can be said abiut Tal who is viewed in a narrow minded way of relatoce rankings although on good day could beat anyone and probably Magnus. So hypothetical ckmparisons are both possible as is not possible to compare Morphy to recent players
Nice inspirational video, here some more chess facts you may find interesting:
In the Candidates in 1959 Tal didn’t play Fischer in the last round, but the second to last one.
"1959 was the first time Tal met many great chess players” -not really. Tal had played in ussr chess championship back in 1956, and those were harsh. Many times current or ex world champions didn’t win it and WC contendors were left behind. Also, Tal played in the interzonal tournament, where he faced the future qualifiers. So, if I’m not wrong,
Tal played in USSR chess in 1956, 1957, 1958, Interzonal 1958, USSR 1959 and the Candidates in 1959, which makes the Candidates the 6th elite chess tournament he played in.
Basically USSR championship was the Candidates at that time. Most of the top players Tal faced in Candidates were from USSR
kinda and especially for the Candidates in 1953 and 1956,@@danilpankov8114
Man, what a good video. Thanks for sharing
Omg your channel is just pretty good, the editing, the music, your voice and the way to tell the story is absolutely magical combination. Really appreciated your video, hope to see more video, thank you
Thanks for the very beautiful music, plus Tal! So awesome I cry.
Also subbed!

Great video! I find Tal and his story to be very interesting.
Dude I absolutely love your style. You make understanding these games so interesting and entertaining. Please keep going!!!
Thank you 😊
Mikhail tal was a joy to show

An amazing video, I think this youtube channel will grow exponentially good luck and thank you for the entertainment.

@@chessextras thanks, very nice of you to let me know :)
Tal won against Kasparov the same way I beat most people in blitz.
On time in a completely losing position.
lol
BUt, the reason why he won by timeout is because, Tal's moves were too complex to be understood by Garry on time.
@@Mojud_Zikr
Right. He spent too much time thinking “what the hell is he doing? what does he see“ instead of realizing “oh he’s totally lost I’ve got this“
@@jefftaylor1186if kasparov couldn't calculate those lines probably no one could've
i love Tal his spirt his play is wounderful
Thanks.
A nice simple representation of a unique world champions style. PS move 23 is actually Bd2 not Bd7.
How much time did you take to edit one video? and is this your natural voice? please answer!
What a great video.....🙌🏻‼️
Such a beautiful narrative...We need more videos like this.❤️..
Please do about FRANK MARSHALL , PAUL MORPHY , BOBBY FISCHER , RASHID NEZHMETDINOV.✨.........
thank you ☺️
Opponent thinking what the hell will Tal sacrifice and scamble the board which will confuse anyone.
And why is he supposed to be the "only player respected by stockfish"?!? I hate it when click bait titles have nothing to do with the content. 😑
Dont b so naive.
Because he solve the puzzle which even stockfish 15 is not able to solve. That's why he is the only man respected by stockfish.it is not a clickbait
Nice video
Wow beating Fischer and Kasparov. How many could.
Make that claim in history
how do you only have 500 subs ???? amazing video bro
Thanks man, I really appreciate it♥️
If any chess fans enjoy these videos, do not expect high level chess analysis or a big focus on the chess games. These videos are about the telling captivating stories, which is enjoyable in its own way. :)
@2:35 misspelling of "intricate". Great video regardless. Thanks for the insight.
Unbelievable legend
I see tal i just click❤️
My favorite Chess player too... Great video man! I Subscribed immediately (with a bell)... You will rise quickly. I can tell!
0:42. I know Tal was never in great health but is was that really him at 16? Damn.
6:48 could have? inhaling smoke particles several times a day DOES have a negative impact on ANYONE'S health - period. This is a well-known fact long before this video upload.
To me tal was in the top 3 of all time. Amazing player!!
0:40 That sixteeen year old was already showing male pattern baldness. Maybe there was some soviet PR polish on the report.
Does anyone know the piano piece used at the beginning because I have heard it so many other times in movies and such.

LMAO THE FIRST 2 SONGS< THE FIRST ONE I LEARNED, AND THE SECOND ONE I PLAYED FOR ME RECITAL LOLLL
He depended on the Queen piece on most of his games....
This is inspiring me.🙏🏻
Can you make a video about Ahmed who's an Egyptian Chess Player?😁
In what sense is he respected by Stockfish?!
was it made with AI?
Bobby Fiskier, I think so...that impressive btw.

5:10 what bishop takes pawn
Can you explain why is he respected by Stockfish?
Simple - Stockfish never got to play Tal.
@@UTube_userRM then why the title?
Because Tal invented a puzzle where stockfish thinks it’s a win for white but after a few moves the engine realizes Tal is right there is no way of winning.
@@ronsim3989wow thanks, I had no idea.

so why is he respected by goldfish?

And how does stockfish come into this story???
🤫🤫its just for the views

No mention to Stockfish in all the video. The title and content of the video are not related at all. Pure clickbait.
Reminds me of Rick sanches
Mikhail (Immor)Tal
4:04 Rook B1 rook B1...
Eugene Torre....
The video is great, but the popup text duplicating the narration gets old real fast. In general, if people want subtitles, they can turn them off, and they should always be unobtrusive and not impede the main image on screen. Cheers!
How can Tal look 88 when is 55 ?
Except if it is the drugs ans therapiss rhat they gave him
Every move he ever made was an inaccuracy.
They are brilliants, what are you on?
@@cherith6745 No, Tal was an objectively inaccurate player. Often his 'brilliancies' were straight up blunders, but it point was to play so wildly that his opponents got confused and weren't sure which way was up.
What? Stockfish is extremely critcal of Tal's games because he often played very wild and inaccurate moves that bewildered his opponents. If Stockfish respects anyone, it would be someone like Capablanca.
Everyone, myself included went over Tal's games with and engine, the accuracy was abysmal. Even modern chessplayers laugh at his tricks like Nakamura. Not to mention Botvinnik cracked him half. So I don't buy the premise of this video.
Is too bad he did almost every unhealthy thing ever. If he trained like an athlete, he could have been the best
This has nothing to do with stockfish. Lame!
This whole video was the product of AI it seems, or indistinguishable from such.
No
Nice Clickbait smh

Actually hated by latvian actual gouvernement.
Cause a) bolshevik b) jew c) another reason?
Modern latvians retired his memorial bronze desk from the house where he lived an put on this place....nothing
"The greatest chess legend of all time" ?? Huh, just to make your documentary sound interesting or what??
pierwszy
Yes ,very nice gay RIP ,but where i can see how stockfish respect him?
Clickbait.
fisssk cherrr .ahahahaha
Alekhine was better than tal
its obvious Gary was not the greatest chess player when Tal got up from a hospital bed and beat Gary!! Who is greatest chess player?? certainly not Gary!!
Morphy
It's Garry. And the only undefeated champion is Father Time
Bobby Fischer beat the weakest chess World champion Boris Spassky only 17 wins 11 losses! You can not lose 11 times against the blunder maker Spassky! Capablanca would beat Spassky 8 wins 6 draws zero losses! Carlsen would beat Spassky 6 wins 6 draws zero losses! The high est tournament elo rating score is Fabiano Caruana 8,5/10 StLouis scoring 3080 elo rating! Caruana the world record holder 3080! Karpov scored 11/13 in Linares 1994 scoring 3040 rating! Alekhine in San Remo elo score 3040! Over-rated Fischer and Kasparov their Best tournament scores only 2990!
Caruana not world champion.@@RaineriHakkarainen
By that argument, you could say Korchnoi was the greatest ever. Korchnoi dominated Tal over their long careers.
