The comment way at the beginning is the one I keep thinking, that no one ever mentions: Nolan takes it seriously. When I was a kid, I was excited to see this TV show, Batman. It was campy, colorful, and entertaining ... for a kid. Now that I think back, I don't know how I sat through it. You can come up to the present and find that, though we now have big-budget superheroes with high-technology to make them seem more real, what's with all the jokes, winks, and other humorous interludes. In this trilogy, Nolan's taken the idea of Batman and treated him perfectly. Nothing funny, nothing political, nothing nothing; just solid story-telling. Just love these three movies. Of course, the Joker is delicious, more interesting than I could ever imagine. But what a smart comment, that Nolan takes it seriously. Others miss that and consider all superhero movies on the same level. This movie didn't have aliens from outer space who were bent on destroying the earth, but I liked it more. Great comment. Oh, also enjoyed how you watched, laughed, and enjoyed. No smart-a** remarks and goofing around, which is too prevalent among reactors who think we want to watch them more than the movie. The idea is to have fun watching movies with your friends and buds, which is what the reactors are supposed to be. If I had someone over to the house and he started yakking and goofing around, I'd press stop and open the front door for him. But you guys just watched and laughed at all the right places. Very nice reaction, guys!!!
I remember being 12 and seeing this in theatres for the first time, and when the Joker held the fake Batman hostage, he was so terrifying and captivating that as soon as the scene cut, our Theater was dead silent. You could’ve heard a pin drop. Unbelievable performance by Heath Having seen the most recent Batman, I still think this is maybe the best Superhero movie ever made. Great reaction guys!!
When I saw this in the theater, everyone jumped when the Joker yelled "LOOK AT ME". What's weirder to describe is how it felt to hear that on a theater sound system. I can feel vibrations from deeper sounds (air pressure or something, I suppose), and I remember feeling it in the floor under my feet and up to my knee. Gave me goosebumps.
Heath Ledger’s performance was amazing. In the video where Joker is threatening the hostage and goes from 0 to 100 when he shouts “Look At Me!” I jumped the first time. It always gives me shivers.
I recently watched The Batman in theaters with Robert Pattinson. It was AMAZING. The camera work, the score, the acting, the cinematography - SO good. I haven’t felt this amazed by a Batman movie since The Dark Knight. The Dark Knight is the best movie in this trilogy imo. But I do think that’s largely due to Ledger’s Joker.
My parents took me to see this because they knew I was upset about Heath Ledger's death. He was a favorite actor of mine and my "celebrity crush" for years before this lol. Such a great movie. 💕
The batmobile and garbage truck scenes were filmed amazingly with 1/3rd scale miniatures which worked unbelievably well and seamless, there's some great BTS footage online!
I noticed you said you are doing a Nolan binge, if you haven't done Interstellar, I would LOVE to see you guys do a reaction to it, it is my favourite movie and you guys are the best.
I'm so glad that they screened the opening scene in IMAX theaters in December of 2007. Heath may not have been around to receive his Oscar, but he did get to see the very first reactions to his Joker.
A bit of a side tangent here, but this was not actually Heath Ledger's last film. He went on to appear in Terry Gilliam's The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, and when he died partway through the shoot, Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell all came in and worked for peanuts to play other versions of the character so that the film could be completed. The material that hadn't been filmed yet took place in a fantasy world, so every time he entered that world, he looked like someone else. It's a wild film, like most of Gilliam's work...you should check it out.
That scene on the bike, driving through the hallway, like a lot of the movie, was filmed here in Chicago. my wife gets off the train, downtown Chicago, down there for work. its open to the public, if you're ever in Chicago.
There's a couple scenes were the joker is in his own videos sending a message to Gotham. The Director shot the 1st one & after working with Heath Ledger, said you don't need me, here's a camera, do whatever you want. Every one after the 1st is Heath Ledger with a camera shooting his own footage. Heath Ledger also did his own make up after they glued on the fake scars, although there were makeup people there to help him, he's the one that designed it at home & could put it on himself. The licking kept the adhesive on the scars moist so they stayed on longer, if it dried it cracked & started to peel off & had to be redone. He was already a lip licker, so he exaggerated it & it worked great.
HOLYSH** I was looking for this yesterday, realized you guys didn't do it yet so I watched some other RUclipsrs watch it, but they weren't as good as you two and today you guys posted it! What a pleasant coincidence!
Yhe interrogation scene between jkr and batman was the clip they showed the night Heath ledger won his academy award great scene done perfectly by ledger
The building where hes on the bike is definitely a real place I walk through Union station every other day. The garbage truck's scene is under whacker the route I take to go home.
2:28 "It reminds me of Payday" Hah, funny he should say that. The original Payday 2 Teaser Trailer directly referenced the opening scene with the Joker standing with his mask in his left hand, bag over right shoulder, and the camera closing in from behind.
The shots of the joker filming the fake Batman and the scene where he’s filming the reporter was all Heath Ledger. Nolan gave him a camera and told him to have at it.
I always feel bad for that reporter. He was captured by the Joker, told to read a script, he did as he was told, & it is heavily implied that Joker killed him after. When I watch that scene I get the feeling that he already knew Joker was going to kill him no matter what & he just kind of gave up.
Fun fact: In the interrogation scene, Christian Bale starts moving too fast around the room with Heath Ledger for the camera man and you can end up seeing the camera man in the reflection of the interrogation window for a split second if you know what you're looking for.
Truly, my favourite movie of all time! I'm so glad you guys watched this. To this day, when I watch this movie, my heart races, palms sweat and I get goosebumps every single time. Truly a masterpiece! ❤️
Jokers only motive and the thing I consistently find that he works towards in all the chaos he creates is that he simply wants to prove that at the end of the day, at heart, were all horrible people who will always put ourselves before others when it really matters.
This is true. Sadly he's not wrong. Even though in the movie no one pressed the button, in rl it would have been different lol. Tbh I would have snuck off the boat entirely and swam
It's not so much that the people turn on Batman, it's that the narrative turns, the people who create the narrative profit from making the Hero the Villain
That scene where the auditor tried to blackmail Batman via Fox is Morgan Freeman's fave scene in this movie, and the line "Good luck!" his fave line 🤣 Just a wonderful cast with a great script and those practical effects you're not likely to see in big budget blockbusters. While the late Ledger deserves all the praise for his Joker, for me the heart of this movie are the three characters at the end; flawed yet well intentioned men who were all tainted by the Joker's deeds. Love the closing monologue, a father desperately trying to explain things to his child, leading to the title drop.
Welcome to The Dark Knight starring Cristian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman with Heath Ledger as Joker in which the police are still in the dark about who he really is. Also featuring Maggie Gyllenhaal as Rachel Dawes who replaced Katie Holmes and Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon. Unfortunately Heath Ledger died before he could accept his award for Best Supporting Actor so his family did it on his behalf
Have really great memories with this one. I remember going downtown in Chicago and there were digital news billboards showing Heath in full Joker garb walking around Chicago. Truly a great movie.
Joker was perfectly depicted from what I believe was the greatest variation of Joker which is the animated series. He is split, the side of him that was just a guy crossed into a non-split personality person that is Joker. And he is obsessive. Batman is his ideal of someone who understands it. So without him he'll have no fun in the madness. Joker's mind is a buoy drifting in and out. It's why he makes looney gas 😁. NTBrush, just hit up RUclips and find Hamill Joker laugh.
I'm sure there's 10 thousand people who's commented this (probably) but the Joker videos were directed by Heath himself. And yes, the chase scenes and truck flipping were practical. Yes, correct the hospital explosion was correct: there was supposed to be another explosion, it got delayed and Heath improvised the shaking of the remote. Heath also kept a diary about playing the Joker. This is one of my most favorite movies ever. The Batman is slowly taking over though. I can't wait for you guys to finish this so you can watch The Batman, because OMG it's freaking amazing. If you liked the detective stuff, TB focuses a lot more on that and it's one of the most compelling parts of the movie. TDK though is another Nolan masterpiece.
This has been my favorite Batman film since opening night. Until now. The Batman is what Batman is supposed to be. Also Harvy Dent was in the Michael Keaton 1989 Batman, but played by Billy Dee Williams. Then as Two-Face in the Joel Schumacher debacle Batman Forever, played by Tommy Lee Joans.
@25:55 Maroni was standing there in the hospital. He was STANDING, after Batman dropped him off a 3-storey building and shattered his legs! I never noticed before.
As always you guys are amazing!!! If you don't mind and if you didn't watched the chronicles of Narnia trilogy I would be very happy. It is one of my favorite childhood movies and still till this day it brings me such a joy and nostalgia. First movie is - The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe (2005), the second movie is - Prince Caspian (2008) and the third is - Voyage of The Dawn Treader (2010).

Just like how there was controversy when Robert Pattinson was announced to play Batman in the 2022 film, there was controversy of Heath Ledger announced as the Joker. Ledger was known as a 'pretty boy' for most of his career and playing the sadistic Joker was outside his usual range. People were sure surprised when he pulled it off.

I once saw this interesting video about the Joker and that he actually gives a lot of hints about his background based on his actions, experience and what he says (not his changing stories). It's theorized that he was a soldier of some kind, probably special ops and was probably abandoned by someone, a group of people and/or, wife?. 1. He is well versed in military grade weapons and bombs. 2. He's well organized, and can organize groups of people (the bank robbery reminds us of a special ops mission). 3. When he tries to kill the mayor he does so in a military uniform (might be hint from the the director). 4. When with Dent he says "If a truck of soldiers is blown up, no one panics because it's all part of the plan." Indicating that this might have happened to him. And if it did it could explain some sort of mental illness and scarring. This also indicates that if this did happen it could mean the story about "the wife" could be partially true: if he came home mentally ill and heavily scarred she might have been put off and left him. 5. He prefers dynamite and gasoline, the cheep stuff. But also the kind of stuff that was easy to find if you're over seas, on a mission and need to use what is available.
Having prior experience in the service, that's exactly what I picked up on. He does seem like he was a special ops soldier who got scarred which resulted in him having PTSD that went off the deep end.
A little fun fact for anyone who's seen Band Of Brothers. There's 2 actors in the film from the show and both were in the ferry scene. One of them is the actor who portrayed Roy Cobb, who is on the civilian ship and the other is the actor who portrayed Floyd Talbert, who is on the prisoner ship.
It's an common misconception it wasn't in the script that the second explosions at the hospital weren't going off. The reason the second part of the explosions was delayed was so they could have time to safely get Ledger out of the danger zone before collapsing the building. I think it's a cool story though and it definitely is going to go down in history with more and more people believing it On a side note, you should totally react to Kevin Conroy's read of Batman's final monologue in this movie; there's a video where Batman's lines in this monologue are dubbed with Kevin Conroy's read and it's epic. Kevin Conroy is often described as the true voice for Batman; he's played him in multiple projects for 20 to 30 years now; most people when they read Batman comics imagine Batman talking in Kevin Conroy's voice, the same way they imagine the Joker with Mark Hamill's voice
@@ryapowa actually it was all planned. In Nolan's own words: "Special effects supervisor Chris Corbould was able to come up with a scenario in which Heath could actually be walking out of the building because what Chris worked out is if we put in a little beat where the first set of explosions stops as if something's gone wrong, and the Joker just takes a second to look around surprised like the audience is surprised, then the major demolition comes in and he jumps straight into the school bus. In that way he was able to come up with a practical scenario in which we could actually take a principal actor, walk him out of a building that's about to be destroyed, and literally drop the building to the ground".
In the beginning they showed in that one scene vigilantes where Running the street Dressing like Batman. This is a regular thing happening in the story. It gave the 🃏 target to focus on.
i don't know if this is true or not, but I heard that joker switched the addresses to batman, because he knew he would go after Rachel.. if this is true, that's just a new level of BRUH.
The underground part where he's driving through the train station on his motorcycle/bike is real, its a real train stop in Chicago where most of the Batman movies, continue to be filmed today, especially this trilogy.
I didn't get to watch this at release and was kind of thinking it maybe was kind of overrated with Heath's performance because of his death. But when i got to finally see it, i was blown away, like i felt a need to apologize to him 😅

Well thanks man!! I hope u stick around brother!!
The distortion you put on the sound to avoid copyright made the Joker even scarier, LOL.
I remember being 12 and seeing this in theatres for the first time, and when the Joker held the fake Batman hostage, he was so terrifying and captivating that as soon as the scene cut, our Theater was dead silent. You could’ve heard a pin drop. Unbelievable performance by Heath
Having seen the most recent Batman, I still think this is maybe the best Superhero movie ever made.
LET'S PUT A SMILE ON THAT FACE!!
Joker carried the whole movie
My parents took me to see this because they knew I was upset about Heath Ledger's death. He was a favorite actor of mine and my "celebrity crush" for years before this lol. Such a great movie. 💕
PRACTICAL EFFECTS BEFORE CGI
That's my motto
Fun fact: The old man at the fundraiser scene who 'reminded the Joker of his father' was actually Patrick Leahy - US Senator for Vermont.
wow Bruce Wayne really can throw quite a party. Weird that he has never been seen in the same room as Batman though
Some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. Some men just want a tangerine.
You guys are so awesome. It’s like I’m watching it for the first time again with you guys.
The batmobile and garbage truck scenes were filmed amazingly with 1/3rd scale miniatures which worked unbelievably well and seamless, there's some great BTS footage online!
Oh nice!! No wonder they looked so good
“I like seeing the detective side of Batman. It’s really cool.”
Matt Reeves: I got you, Fam. 😉
Lmao! I’m sure
Yes he planned to blow the hospital up. But the charge and detonator was
Acting up. It was all supposed to go
Up at the same time.
firetruck on fire..I never notice that. 😆
I noticed you said you are doing a Nolan binge, if you haven't done Interstellar, I would LOVE to see you guys do a reaction to it, it is my favourite movie and you guys are the best.
Coming out in a few weeks
@@whitenoisereacts omg i’m looking forward to it it’s my most most fav of all time
I'm so glad that they screened the opening scene in IMAX theaters in December of 2007.
The ending gives GOOSEBUMPS.
Aww thanks!!
Yhe interrogation scene between jkr and batman was the clip they showed the night Heath ledger won his academy award great scene done perfectly by ledger
The building where hes on the bike is definitely a real place I walk through Union station every other day. The garbage truck's scene is under whacker the route I take to go home.
This has to be my favorite as well! it's just a masterpiece
2:28
"It reminds me of Payday"
Hah, funny he should say that.
I like how this is Ninetailedbrush first watch but everything you precipitate from each scene is so on point. you get the movie.
When they flipped the truck and blew up the “hospital” here in Chicago they were HUGE events. News coverage and tourist pics galore.
Is always so good to see people appreciating great art! I can't wait for the dark Knight rises
4:40 yeah, Tom said Katie wasn't allowed to come out and play.
“ The dark knight” and the latest “the Batman” are in my top two Batman movies
the lower pitch made the joker voice more frightening. and heath had a very deep voice it wouldn't be hard for him to probably sound like that.
One of my sisters class themes her senior year was Batman because this movie came out that year (2008) and was huge.
Ita interesting watching someone who was under a rock react to a movie ive memorised
I love watching reactions where someone is as amped up as I am about the characters and story. 💯
The truck flipping was NOT CGI. They actually flipped an entire semi truck with trailer.
I know!! It’s awesome
Fun fact: the opening notes on the string instrument are a D and a C note! 😂
I watched The Batman film yesterday and I'm speechless.
I’ll never forget seeing this in theaters, it was such a surreal experience. 😱 I still say this is the best hero - and villain - movie out there!
I read somewhere that the scene with Rachel and joker was the 1st time she saw him on full makeup and freaked her out, that's her genuine reaction
They flipped a real truck on the streets of Chicago!
Awww thanks!! For sure at some point!
@@whitenoisereacts You are welcome! I forgot to mention it is based on the books by C. S. Lewis. I heard a couple of days ago that Netflix is gonna continue this series so I am very excited! And I hope and pray they don't ruin it.
P.S. Thank you for including it in your watching list
Yeah I read the books as a kid! Loved em
The other joker improv was the clapping scene from the jail cell that's why everyone uncomfortably stopped and I'll looked at him because that was Heath improvising clapping like that surely freaked people around
The director who made the movie props actually made the bat pod motorcycle in an actual operating motorcycle for the movie and it really works.
Dude….that’s awesome!
Great movie and Rip Heath Ledger
Just like how there was controversy when Robert Pattinson was announced to play Batman in the 2022 film, there was controversy of Heath Ledger announced as the Joker. Ledger was known as a 'pretty boy' for most of his career and playing the sadistic Joker was outside his usual range. People were sure surprised when he pulled it off.
Also you guys need to watch A Knights Tale if you haven't watched it already and made a video but it's a great movie and Heath Ledger is the main character
A good fonging is in order if they don't lol
"You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain."
- Harvey Dent
Thank you ! I had a shit day and i am glad that my evening will be better right now with this reaction and delicious and selfmade food. So THANK YOU ! Regards from Germany
Of course!!
Nobu was getting all excited in his chair with this one! Hah! So awesome.
Rip Heath Ledger
TDK is my top comic movie. I really like Sin City, Watchmen, V for Vendetta, Constantine and The Crow. But TDK is different.
LESGOO, i was wondering when you two would react to this masterpiece xdd
great reaction maan
Greatest comic-book movie of all time! Can't wait for you guys to watch the prestige!
31:15 [Epic Movie Trailer Voice] Saving the hostages and kicking some serious bad guy ass in a very tall building. *NARRATED BY MORGAN FREEMAN!*
I saw that series a couple times
It's an common misconception it wasn't in the script that the second explosions at the hospital weren't going off. The reason the second part of the explosions was delayed was so they could have time to safely get Ledger out of the danger zone before collapsing the building.
I think it's a cool story though and it definitely is going to go down in history with more and more people believing it
On a side note, you should totally react to Kevin Conroy's read of Batman's final monologue in this movie; there's a video where Batman's lines in this monologue are dubbed with Kevin Conroy's read and it's epic. Kevin Conroy is often described as the true voice for Batman; he's played him in multiple projects for 20 to 30 years now; most people when they read Batman comics imagine Batman talking in Kevin Conroy's voice, the same way they imagine the Joker with Mark Hamill's voice
Either way, Ledger went off-script as he stayed there until they went off rather than getting out beforehand
Wrong.
Conroy & Hamill’s portrayals are absolutely iconic, without so much as a face to show for it.
@@moonakieater2308 I was just talking about the scenario that the original commenter came up with in his comment but thanks
I also remember seeing 10:29 in theaters and everyone SCREAMED lol
In the beginning they showed in that one scene vigilantes where
Running the street
Dressing like Batman. This is a regular thing happening in the story. It gave the 🃏 target to focus on.
i don't know if this is true or not, but I heard that joker switched the addresses to batman, because he knew he would go after Rachel.. if this is true, that's just a new level of BRUH.
I’m sure.
Batman Begins is still my favorite Batman movie.
14:36 …
The Batman 2022 - “Then your gonna love me..”
The underground part where he's driving through the train station on his motorcycle/bike is real, its a real train stop in Chicago where most of the Batman movies, continue to be filmed today, especially this trilogy.
Seeing fellow nerds get giddy watching this brings back great memories
I didn't get to watch this at release and was kind of thinking it maybe was kind of overrated with Heath's performance because of his death. But when i got to finally see it, i was blown away, like i felt a need to apologize to him 😅
