In this update we take a look at the progress on the Smallwood Dam. A lot of work has been completed on the power house and the emergency spillway. The Smallwood Dam is located on what used to be Smallwood Lake. Smallwood Lake is located in Mid Michigan. This footage was filmed on September 15, 2023. This was after the collapse of the Edenville Dam on May 19, 2020. There was much flooding that occurred around the dam at the same time that the Edenville Dam collapsed on May 19, 2020. Wixom Lake was rapidly rising due to heavy rainfall and the Edenville dam could not hold back the water. The earthen embankment of the dam failed sending water rushing towards Sanford Village. The aftermath and damage left behind is devastating. Make sure you subscribe to catch the follow up videos I will be filming.

And another question: have to sent the information to the local news agencies that you have live cameras at these dams? So that can report on the water height? Or be informed?

Nope, it's getting filled in. Too small of a scale to be economically viable, I suspect.
@@gth042 too small and putting in power generation would add a lot to the cost of the project.

I guess the purpose of these dams now is recreational in nature. There apparently no flood control, hydropower, irrigation, or other types of benefits. Thanking you in advance for a response.
My thoughts are the same. So the emergency gate will avert an event at the dam but just send the flood waters down stream!! I thought this project would have been taken over by the Army Corp of Engineers. A great opportunity to take the millions of $$$ being spent on emergency gates and really solve all problems with retention and gates up stream to manage the water flow. Retention and flood gates have been successful many times elsewhere. Lots of barren and available land along the waterways.
To me it seems foolish to rebuild the dams,
