As a first time drone user. It's pretty good. It's fun to use a drone. I don't care if all the RUclipsrs say it's bad. I use ND filters & manual settings. Results are amazing.
Neo: Flies without a controller. Flies with Cellphone. Flies with regular controllers. Flies with RC2 controller. Flies with FPV equipment and it's $199 and it does all of it pretty well. There should be no complaints.
Also flies with a quest 2 and newer headest making FPOV more escble then it ever was before. As not only do alot of people have those headsets more then people habe the lest two gens of Xbox but you can have the FPV mode in MR so you don't have all the limits of VR when you want to fly your FPV drone... So yeah the Neo just anilates any bearer to entry anyone had with drones... It's just incredible...
I have the Mini 4 pro. I bought the NEO, not for the video quality, but for just having fun without worrying about the high cost of a crash. I also use it to scout out an area for birds etc before sending in the Mini 4 pro.
Took it with me on my dog walk this morning, great fun and so easy to use but with some limitations, still think it’s a brilliant package. Getting better at manual flying now too as I’ve got the controller😀👍
I have many much larger professional drones, but I bought the Neo for a bit of fun, that’s what exactly what it is, for this price it’s fantastic , you can’t complain . The Neo 2 will have a better camera, but how much better remains to be seen?…🤔
Like it will have the same as the next step up DJI drone has now... then the neo's 2 next step up will have a better camre then it has now... Or atleadst that would make sense and DJI isn't the type not to do that I don't think... Also the eno 2 will have better onboard AI and settings... improved battery life and profromance and it could be even smaller although that is a big if same with it being cheaper as the neo 2 will likely have the same price.

My wife and kids never take photos of me. I am missing on every vacation. Except when I remember to make a selfie. This is the drone for me! Though I may wait on v2 in the hope of getting proximity sensors.
Seems good for short clips, anything past that you need a real drone. I've already go the Mini 4 pro and an Air 3s. It does seem fun if your looking to do shorts and don't want to pull out the regular drones. Thanks for the walk through.

I have the neo and rc2 from my mini 4pro. If i buy just the goggles 3, will i be able to pair the rc2 to goggles 3 and fly the neo with those together?
I’m still getting used to this drone so when you use it it’s gotta be connected to phone yeah all the time cause I’ve used buttons on it without connecting to phone or controller and had issues like flys away or really unbalanced but that was before update haven’t yet tried it since cheers 😊
Thanks for the video on the DJI Neo. Really informative. I was looking at getting a Neo for social media and using it for filming to phone to social on the go. So bypassing the editing suit. I know you have the Luts package, but do you think the ND filters make enough of a difference to the Neo camera to avoid editing on a laptop? (As to my knowledge you can’t use any Luts software on a phone). Thanks.
I just received mine a few days ago. I was surprised how well it flies, and I think the camera for what it is works good. It doesn't compare to my mini 4 pro, but it's a fun little drone.

DJI AIR 2 also had a half inch sensor and people loved it. The issue is the way Rock Steady Stabilization crops in. By that point it's closer to 2k/2.7k - ots not THAT bad if you know hou to coax a good image out. The other issue is Rock Steady needs HOGH FRAME RATES like action cameras to do Stabilization. So an ND Filter works best with in-camera Stabilization OFF and using Gyro Flow in Post. Else you will get artifacts.

Love my Neo, I think most serious drone fliers expect to much from the little guy ! Bearing in mind what Neo owners pay for it, what editing software would you recommend ?, nothing to fancy or expensive.
This video explained the "taster" effect perfectly, and I am a walking talking example. I have been lusting over a Mini 4 Pro for the last year but held back by the memories of my two previous Parrot drones, both were great but met their fate by crashing just about every time I used them. No way was I ever going to spend $1,500 CDN on a Mini expecting the same fate. Then this thing came along. The fly more kit was only 400 Canadian Pesos! No questions were left for me after watching your first video of it. I had no idea how far the drone world had gotten so you should have seen the look on my face after this thing followed me FLAWLESSLY while I rode my eMTB for hours through our forest trails. I was expecting a crash and more crashes straight away but still after a month it has not hit a thing, I use it sooo much I bought a 4th battery. Oh, and about that "taster" thought? I also love my NEW Mini 4 Pro that I bought last week (you had that right on), also Fly More combo and a fourth battery. The fact is I would likely never have purchased that Mini 4 if not for this little NEO. The NEO will always be part of my kit as the best drone will always be the one you have with you and this one will always be.

I used a phantom 3 for about 8 years but recently had a crashing so in the market for a new one! any suggestions? I live in florida so have some windy days! My personal use would be enjoying flying it around. Not really big on racing or photography but love to just fly it around. What do you suggest for me?

I also own a Mini 3 Pro. I think it's more than a taster. It can get shots in places where any larger drone would be a problem, either 'space' wise or where people are about. This size drone gets curious amusement from people whereas a mini sized drone has people more concerned. I don't know if the drones recent firmware improved the video quality, in 'palm' mode, but it looks OK on my 65" 4K TV; just like the Mini 3 Pro footage. I do own other professional camera equipment (Panasonic X1500. Nikon D850). I do tweak the footage in DaVinci Resolve Studio (exposure, WB, Gamma and I add a tiny amount of Gaussian blur and viewing at 100% zoom as an aid. All in all, for the price, it does get footage I can view on a 65" 4K TV and not feel it is inferior. Yes, you have to fly, and be very much aware, in an environment and feel comfortable. Stabilization and tracking, so far, is excellent; it's crash survival is pretty good. For hikers, I think, it will provide good fun documentation and not carry about bulky equipment and thereby be put off altogether. To sum up, it can provide good viewable footage where other drones (size) cannot really compete; it's cheap and less risk averse. Update: If I create videos on Davinci Resolve I output at maximum quality (constant bitrate). If you output video at lower bitrates then you can expect inferior results when presented to RUclips. It's definitely not awful.
Man, it’s been since the DJI mini two and I barely got back into budget drones so my question is should I buy the RC two controller? I haven’t even received the neo I ordered yet but I would like the option of a controller over my iPhone Should I wait to see if I like the neo or should I buy the controller? DJI RC 2? My Avata 2 works with my DJI FPV Remote Controller 3, DJI list the Neo as compatible with the DJI Goggles 3, DJI FPV Remote Controller 3 and DJI RC Motion 3 but at the DJI site they don't list the DJI RC-N2 but do list the DJI RC 2 as compatible with the Neo (and have it listed for sell). The DJI Neo cost a little more than one battery for the Avata 2!
In order for the Drone to get an update camera it has to be successful in sales to not get strapped completely. And we all know how DJI do things did drones they keep in their lineup the cameras get better and better each time around. But I think the needle is in survival mode right now

I've seen a lot of vidoes on this drone & people always say we need this, this & this update what everybody doesn't realise is it is going to have limitations due to size, processor etc I think it's an amazing price of engineering tech
Why does it take so long for the wifi to connect EACH time. Maybe I have some “auto connect” on my phone setting wrong. But WiFi doesn’t take that long to connect each time. The Neo connecting to the phone wifi seems way slow to me.
I have never owned a drone before so the Neo is something I am considering buying. As a person who knows nothing about drones I would be worried to buy an expensive one. So the neo sounds about perfect for learning and making some home videos as well.
I've been flying it since launch and I love it. I've got plenty of higher end drones, but I've been taking the neo everywhere I go. Also I've bashed it into loads of things and it's not got a scratch (yet).
The $200 price point is a great deal, and the $300 controller bundle even more so. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be available in the US. I'll miss the follow and FPV features, but once you add the controller and charging pack, the Mini 4K comes out to barely ~12% more for twice the battery life and much higher quality video.
Does shooting in 1080 instead of 4k help with the oversharpening of the image everyone is frustrated about. (I don’t have an external control so I can’t change it)
As always your unbiased reviews give the good and the bad. If DJI released a MKII with a better camera for say $100 more I would be on it. The simplistic follow me is worth it for many viideos. Cheers mate as always
See, you talk about this being a taster drone and I don't disagree, but in one respect DJI makes that untrue. For instance, let's say you buy a DJI Neo and then later get the RC2 controller as an upgrade. You then decide to get a DJI Mini 4K which is arguably the next step up, in terms of price range (when the Pro is a lot more expensive). You buy a DJI Mini 4K and then realize that your RC2 controller doesn't work with it. I could envision that being frustrating. I'm in the opposite situation, where I have a DJI Mini 4K and it's tempting to get a DJI Neo to get that ease of use, without the need for a mobile phone+controller mess (at times) and because I also know it can work with EVERY controller going.
Darren, when I first got my Hover X1 I thought this drone is a real leap ahead in tech. I then figured out how to fly it with a tiny game controller; the 8BitDo Zero2 through Bluetooth. I'm now trying to figure out how or if I can fly my NEO with this controller. If i figure it out I'll drop a comment. Thanks for your LUTS and Vids. ~S.G.
I really can’t relate to the taster drone thing for FPV, a set of goggles and controller (wether it’s a motion controller or not) are so expensive compared to the drone… Noboy will buy a Neo and then a set of goggles and controller to fly it FPV… The Neo is a great drone next to a Mini 4 Pro (like I have them both), or maybe besides an Avata, but not more than that…
Yes I mentioned in a previous video so if you buy a DJI Neo don’t buy all the controllers and goggles just for fpv you might as well just buy the avata 2 combo
On my sony bravia 4k oled '20s era 50 something injch TV... The it's video is honestly great! Easly beats anything at it's it's price range thag I know of... Like if you want better video recording you would need and over $1k mirrorless DLSR or an iPhone pro, Galexy s or a pixel... As litterly anything else you may not even have 4k not to mention look that good and notbly the Neo is $200 not well above $300 if you go for a Pixel A series phone. Not to mention despite 1080p displays have gone mostly extenct replaced by 720,1440p, 4k,8k and 16k displays.. Amd despite being able to get a 4k TV that by the way only come above 40 inches for $200 that is really good any day of the week... Most people some how only have 1080p displays and with Apple leading the way more people have 720p displays then ever before... Though I highly doudt it will stay that way as the display industry is brute forcing 4k to finnly be the standard about a dacade late... Which the pictures and video this drone just makes is extremely future prof as like I said unless you have one of those devices I mentioned. You photos and video will look very old very soon do to how isnaly good cheap TV are now... Which honestly with all the features thos drone has will likely make it the poloid/camciorder/Smart phone camare... As all you need to use this drone is the drone fully charged and working and all you do is the press the buttom on top it does the resrt... Like my guy this is a massive revoltion for casul people to capture memorioes with... As unlike the rest all you do is press a button no skill or need to be behind the camre or use the weak selfy cam... Like the common man has been prosmissed this ability forever but now we have it chesaper then anyother option besides a free photo op...
Yep. It's a gateway drone. Just like the dealer who gives samples of addictive drugs. Leads to more and more. We all know. I've been trying g to cut down for years, unsuccessfully. These have been shipping to US Customers since October 8th. a) Amazong how long a month is, when you're waiting on something. b) Who knew the best accessory for Avata 2 would be another drone? I have the Neo, i like it. But the Camera is real a Problem. Is it real the best way to build a Selphy Drone for Content Creators with such a bad Camera? In Germany you have to pay 199 EUR for the Neo, personally i really would pay 249 EUR for a better Sensor.

Egal das beste daraus machen. Und die neuen Hoverair kosten gleich, mit Zubehör, fast das doppelte.Und so häufig benutze ich sie dann auch nicht.

Took this out today, having owned the mini 4 and the mini 1 series drones here are my thoughts. Good. Small nimble and fun to fly. Easy quick shots right from the drone. Voice control and tracking. Mid. Video quality is ok with a few tweaks. Photos medium quality. Tracking sometimes a bit off course. Bad. Wind resistance is poor. Drone almost fell out of the sky. Battery life isn't great.(get the flymore). So a fun to fly drone in low winds, needs extra batteries. Good for beginners. Tough drone can take some crashes. Bad in medium wind, where other drones are stable. 7/10

Does the battery charge in the drone? Meaning...if I carry a battery bank, I can just connect the drone to it for a recharge
bought the NEO FMP as a complementary drone to the AIR3S. For upcoming travel as well where I would not use the bigger drone.

4:29 nice video but full day light half inch sensor should be just fine. GoPro 13 only has a 1/2 inch sensor too

My Avata 2 works with my DJI FPV Remote Controller 3, DJI list the Neo as compatible with the DJI Goggles 3, DJI FPV Remote Controller 3 and DJI RC Motion 3 but at the DJI site they don't list the DJI RC-N2 but do list the DJI RC 2 as compatible with the Neo (and have it listed for sell). The DJI Neo cost a little more than one battery for the Avata 2!
Does the basic set up come with a charger?
In order for the Drone to get an update camera it has to be successful in sales to not get strapped completely. And we all know how DJI do things did drones they keep in their lineup the cameras get better and better each time around. But I think the needle is in survival mode right now

For those who have it, is it useful for social events? Looking for something that can help record networking events and things of that nature rather than using a photographer? Is the noise too loud? Also, does it take pictures? Thanks in advance.
I've seen a lot of vidoes on this drone & people always say we need this, this & this update what everybody doesn't realise is it is going to have limitations due to size, processor etc I think it's an amazing price of engineering tech
Why does it take so long for the wifi to connect EACH time. Maybe I have some “auto connect” on my phone setting wrong. But WiFi doesn’t take that long to connect each time. The Neo connecting to the phone wifi seems way slow to me.

I have never owned a drone before so the Neo is something I am considering buying. As a person who knows nothing about drones I would be worried to buy an expensive one. So the neo sounds about perfect for learning and making some home videos as well.
I've been flying it since launch and I love it.
I've got plenty of higher end drones, but I've been taking the neo everywhere I go.
Also I've bashed it into loads of things and it's not got a scratch (yet).

I would like to see a little more flying time maybe they could make a plus battery like on the DJI mini 4 pro.
The $200 price point is a great deal, and the $300 controller bundle even more so. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be available in the US. I'll miss the follow and FPV features, but once you add the controller and charging pack, the Mini 4K comes out to barely ~12% more for twice the battery life and much higher quality video.

Does shooting in 1080 instead of 4k help with the oversharpening of the image everyone is frustrated about. (I don’t have an external control so I can’t change it)
As always your unbiased reviews give the good and the bad. If DJI released a MKII with a better camera for say $100 more I would be on it. The simplistic follow me is worth it for many viideos. Cheers mate as always

It is the perfect little fun drone.
See, you talk about this being a taster drone and I don't disagree, but in one respect DJI makes that untrue.
For instance, let's say you buy a DJI Neo and then later get the RC2 controller as an upgrade. You then decide to get a DJI Mini 4K which is arguably the next step up, in terms of price range (when the Pro is a lot more expensive).
You buy a DJI Mini 4K and then realize that your RC2 controller doesn't work with it. I could envision that being frustrating.
I'm in the opposite situation, where I have a DJI Mini 4K and it's tempting to get a DJI Neo to get that ease of use, without the need for a mobile phone+controller mess (at times) and because I also know it can work with EVERY controller going.

Darren, when I first got my Hover X1 I thought this drone is a real leap ahead in tech. I then figured out how to fly it with a tiny game controller; the 8BitDo Zero2 through Bluetooth. I'm now trying to figure out how or if I can fly my NEO with this controller. If i figure it out I'll drop a comment. Thanks for your LUTS and Vids. ~S.G.

For me it is best compared to Ryse Tello. But tello had fast and slow setting. Tello with tello fpv was in fact a bit better in handling to Neo. :-)

Good question , on iOS it’ll just show in top of screen and you can end the call. Not sure on android

I really can’t relate to the taster drone thing for FPV, a set of goggles and controller (wether it’s a motion controller or not) are so expensive compared to the drone… Noboy will buy a Neo and then a set of goggles and controller to fly it FPV…
The Neo is a great drone next to a Mini 4 Pro (like I have them both), or maybe besides an Avata, but not more than that…
Yes I mentioned in a previous video so if you buy a DJI Neo don’t buy all the controllers and goggles just for fpv you might as well just buy the avata 2 combo

On my sony bravia 4k oled '20s era 50 something injch TV... The it's video is honestly great! Easly beats anything at it's it's price range thag I know of... Like if you want better video recording you would need and over $1k mirrorless DLSR or an iPhone pro, Galexy s or a pixel... As litterly anything else you may not even have 4k not to mention look that good and notbly the Neo is $200 not well above $300 if you go for a Pixel A series phone. Not to mention despite 1080p displays have gone mostly extenct replaced by 720,1440p, 4k,8k and 16k displays.. Amd despite being able to get a 4k TV that by the way only come above 40 inches for $200 that is really good any day of the week... Most people some how only have 1080p displays and with Apple leading the way more people have 720p displays then ever before... Though I highly doudt it will stay that way as the display industry is brute forcing 4k to finnly be the standard about a dacade late... Which the pictures and video this drone just makes is extremely future prof as like I said unless you have one of those devices I mentioned. You photos and video will look very old very soon do to how isnaly good cheap TV are now... Which honestly with all the features thos drone has will likely make it the poloid/camciorder/Smart phone camare... As all you need to use this drone is the drone fully charged and working and all you do is the press the buttom on top it does the resrt... Like my guy this is a massive revoltion for casul people to capture memorioes with... As unlike the rest all you do is press a button no skill or need to be behind the camre or use the weak selfy cam... Like the common man has been prosmissed this ability forever but now we have it chesaper then anyother option besides a free photo op...

These have been shipping to US Customers since October 8th. a) Amazong how long a month is, when you're waiting on something. b) Who knew the best accessory for Avata 2 would be another drone? A little bro I keep in the zippered net in the sling bag, meant for props, cables and Small parts.
I have the Neo, i like it. But the Camera is real a Problem. Is it real the best way to build a Selphy Drone for Content Creators with such a bad Camera? In Germany you have to pay 199 EUR for the Neo, personally i really would pay 249 EUR for a better Sensor.
Vielleicht liegt es nicht nur am Sensor? Wenn man alles per Hand einstellen könnte wäre es bestimmt besser. Leider hat man in den Auto-Modi keinerlei Einstellmöglichkeiten.
@@kudstube ja... mit rc3 kann man ja bissel was einstellen. aber 1/2 zoll ist halt auch echt klein. der sensor der ersten osmo pocket reihe würde mir schon gut reichen. spassiges teil ist die neo dennoch.
@@PatrickFeldhusen Naja. Vorher hatte ich eine Hoverair X1 (bis ich sie versenkt habe) und da waren die Videos, aus meiner Sicht super. Die hat doch wohl auch keinen größeren Sensor. Egal das beste daraus machen. Und die neuen Hoverair kosten gleich, mit Zubehör, fast das doppelte.Und so häufig benutze ich sie dann auch nicht.
@@kudstube stimmt schon. dji ist da ein toller startschuss geglückt, zukünftige neo modelle, davon bin ich überzeugt, werden bei der kamera nachlegen. für bissel b-roll content für instagram etc. ist sie schon jetzt ein riesen gewinn.

Took this out today, having owned the mini 4 and the mini 1 series drones here are my thoughts.
Good. Small nimble and fun to fly.
Easy quick shots right from the drone.
Voice control and tracking.
Mid. Video quality is ok with a few tweaks. Photos medium quality.
Tracking sometimes a bit off course.
Bad. Wind resistance is poor. Drone almost fell out of the sky.
Battery life isn't great.(get the flymore).
So a fun to fly drone in low winds, needs extra batteries. Good for beginners. Tough drone can take some crashes. Bad in medium wind, where other drones are stable. 7/10
