Having extensive experience with these machines, one thing that helps with dialing in is to make variables consistant. In this case, dont leave beans in the bean hopper…leave it empty. Weigh out the coffee beans BEFORE grinding. Usually its about 18 grams. Grind the whole lot into the portafilter. This way all you need to figure out is the grind fineness. You are correct…old beans are hard to dial in and this is because they tend to be stale or too dry. Fresh beans contain a small amount of moisture which helps a lot with puck prep and espresso shot pull.
My teenage son and I love our Breville Bambino. Highly recommended. We grind mostly Peet's coffee with a Fellow Opus. V60 for pourovers and the Bambino for espresso drinks. We like that we can use the defaults and we can experiment with different shot lengths. The foam nozzle is a beast. 18 grams is the perfect amt of coffee for the double shot single wall.
I have used a Ninja Hot and Cold system , Nespresso (liked both) but recently had the opportunity to buy the Breville Bambino ( I wanted a real espresso machine) and love it 😍 thanks for a great video/tutorial. Haven’t been to a certain coffee shop in awhile 😂 saving money 💰
Awesome glad you reviewed these! Breville bought out Baratza and are incorporating their tech into Breville grinders... Definitely will make a strong cuppa... One day I hope I can upgrade to this!
Thank You for all of your coffee videos and reviews. You're helping me narrow down my preference. That said, I think the pre ground basket is for pre ground espresso not regular drip type.
You might be right, I wish they would explain that more. this manual is better than some, but they do leave out what grind the coffee should be in the double wall filter. thanks for the information, I need to look into this more.
Hay Dad, just got mine a few days ago and so I am not sure but it seems that using that tap to compress the coffee i push down on the grounds as hard as i can and then i try and spin the tab around a quarter of a turn at least several times for a stronger cup.
Also… soggy puck (water on top) is not a sign that you did something wrong. Soggy puck generally happens when using oily beans…something about the oil that hold water on top. A medium roast bean will help…especially if it is dry with no oily sheen to them.

Hi. Can you do a video on Fiona? What kind of dog, age, how you got her? That sort of thing.
How loud would you say this is? Mine was kind of loud but idk if it's supposed to be or if I should replace it
it might also help to weight your coffee to get a shot you like

Now I'm a little confused...
I thought it's always supposed to be super fine ground...
