Do you know what motor he used and where I could get one a bit larger like it? I'm gonna try to make this for a rowboat. I would like to get some good speed as well and any suggestions on motor size would be a huge help. I want to get good speed maybe 9-10 nots if possible. I don't know how to find the propeller either. Is this design going to last? what should I be watching to keep it in top condition? Any information would be much appreciated!! (:
Looks like it worked. Not sure if it's water proof enough, but if you keep it turned upside down when not in use to let any accumulated water drain out, it should be ok. My minn kota 40# leaked for years(damaged shaft keep eating seals) before corrosion finally killed it.
Im going to make a very important suggestion. Use PVC glue, not that stuff you were using. Silicon sealant is needed as well. And while I'm at it, definitely a bigger prop
Actual pvc glue holds better than simple weather strip adhesive. BUT the problem using pvc glue is this--- what happens if you're out and need to make repairs? With weather strip adhesive you can pull it apart.
Yeah I would not be very efficient prop too small motor too small be okay for Putting around a small pond maybe let's just say I wouldn't lose sight of the dock
Maybe try using some rubber cement glue to glue the rubber seal to the motor and put grease inside the rubber piece so it stays still while the shaft spins freely
Thewater seal probably wont keep water out but thats okay because keep in mind people intentionally run these motors under water to break them in for use in an rc car. Great video!
brushed motor wont last long time, but like the simple build! If you want it to work, keep it simple, great engineer once said. water seal on motor shaft holding up well? computer fan blowing positive pressure into the pvc pipe may keep the water out?
It worked way better than I would have thought, trolling motors aren't made for speed, the only thing I would have done is make it have a reverse which is super easy with a DC motor, just simply have a switch to reverse the polarity
I dont mean to be off topic but does any of you know a tool to get back into an instagram account? I stupidly forgot my password. I appreciate any tricks you can give me!
That’s very creative on a budget type of rig. What size is that dc motor by the way? After this video I did look up on dc motors and I see they have other motors that are much more powerful in terms of torque and rpm. You should upgrade your version by putting quad motors not just that but a more powerful motor with a custom made 5 blade aluminum propeller. Have it into the water 6 to 8 inches down in the water. Swap the battery out to 24v. If u want to be more creative use solar charge and see if you can get that inflable to plane over 15miles per hour all electric. Super light and powerful.
greta idea. i would use a brushles in runner motor that does not care if it gets wet. a firmer prop with metal spindle and a lipo battery of 5000 mah at 11.1 volts.
this motor wont last long in water because you sealed motor air circulation, so when motor get hot there is no air circulation to make it cooler and it will het up and burnt down!
awesome, beats the paddle, but its the same as any electric motor, 20 mins dead battery, break out the paddle, im building one with weed eater motor so gas last as long as i want to go with out paddle.
You guys need to scale that engine up. Maybe consider using a common starter off a small engine and bigger pvc pipe for the housing. Defintely beats a grand for a kayak engine though
Amazing video. Works great. But i do have 1 question and its just from pure curiosity. Why, in videos like this i see, do people not cut their pinky nails. Is this a religous thing.
Not as fast as a jetski. But hay i say that is really well made. The build was very well thought of. But you went lazy on the finishing part. As you only used wires to attach it to the boat. You could have made a better system for that.
I will add to others, ditch the set screws and go to a shear pin or tap and thread this to have a bolt going through I can see this coming apart if used for any amount of time.
Shut the music OFF and do some talking in it's place. Also, play the sound track. I want to hear the machine running when you are working it. I want to hear you explaining it in progress. See this old house,
I'd say the design needs improvements. The last clip of him cruising is sped up, probably by 2x judging from how fast the ducks are moving. He already looks slow, then look at it in .5x
I mean you don't have to use the same components that I he used inside the video you can actually find like more powerful components that are actually use them both to increase the speed more it's my own opinion
I would like to know if I made a boat like the one you did with 12v engine if I put a brushless motor 1000kv battery 4s it will work or I should make changes

According to channels like this, if I just own a hot glue gun, I can send astronauts to space....
LOL...you are funny
Pretty much

I give it 5 STARS for simplicity and ingenuity.....
I would use a larger motor, prop, and battery......
Great video

you inspired me to made similar for my kayak! I'll use flexi shaft and motor will keep out of water! but idea is brilliant!

not bad considering its made out of cheap materials the speed is great I rate it 10/10
Im going to make a very important suggestion. Use PVC glue, not that stuff you were using. Silicon sealant is needed as well. And while I'm at it, definitely a bigger prop
Make one your self dip shit

Fine design of boat and motor for calm days. You win the prize for lowest cost motor.
Looks good in theory, but the shaft seal wont last long.
I will say about 10 minutes, before the water sneak in...

Super like!!

A brushless motor would be better I have a few of them and they actually run faster than the ones with brushes.
what you need to consider is the cavitation rpm for your propeller . faster may not be better @@mysticwolf2842
Hi, nice work! where did you get the rubber shaft sealing?
It worked way better than I would have thought, trolling motors aren't made for speed, the only thing I would have done is make it have a reverse which is super easy with a DC motor, just simply have a switch to reverse the polarity
Great you made it and you sailed also that what i liked.
Thanks for sharing
A parts list sure would have been nice but still brilliant
Oh, this is brilliant

Enjoyable to watch your video
This is the best thing I've seen in a long time 🤗👍

I think its better to immerse the motor with oil so no water can get in. It can also provide cooling property to motor without short circuit
..marine grease
The video is very good. Can you give me more specifications of the engine used !? Thank you!
IT WAS A 775 DC MOTOR.
beats the hell out of rowing all day! good job
Freakin' genius. Love this video. Way to go man.
Looks like a wading pool with a toy motor, but a great idea!

Hi... that look easy and possible to anyone , top👌
thanks for sharing
Very ingenious. Works pretty good
No lube on the seal, it will leak, but before that the motor will overheat with rated load.
good creative cool greetings success
Nice video and good idea
cool vid but the motor wont last you covered the cooling holes and thermally sealed the motor
this motor wont last long in water because you sealed motor air circulation, so when motor get hot there is no air circulation to make it cooler and it will het up and burnt down!
Good work ! But very slow. Maybe it's
low voltage?

good job on the motor, but I'd like to see more about the boat!
you can add a solar panel so that you can have a roof also to protect you from heat while fishing
I also subscribe and like your video
Simple yet effective! But I would not wana sit in that tiny boat 👀
WoW super like
How did the rubber seal work out? It looks like a design weakness to me.

Hola
Cool..!! A home made trolling motor.
Nice vbio
No i tak pływa na tej łupince 😀
Is it really waterproof?
One VC man making an electric boat used in guerillar war against in Vietnam.
U wot m8?
Very low tech, but efficient. At least you can use the paddle for backup just in case. Not bad.
You guys need to scale that engine up. Maybe consider using a common starter off a small engine and bigger pvc pipe for the housing.
Defintely beats a grand for a kayak engine though
It's for lite pontoon, kayak. Bigger needs bigger battery, stronger support, etc. But free to improve!
Amazing video. Works great. But i do have 1 question and its just from pure curiosity. Why, in videos like this i see, do people not cut their pinky nails. Is this a religous thing.
Clear example why you should avoid to use air fans as screw-propellers.
Nice Work
Good Job
I am afraid. Dat rubber water seal which you used in the front is not going to hold.....
That was what I spotted. Can't be spinning a rubber gasket and expect it to stay waterproof for very long.
It's under slight pressure to keep it sealed and it will be lubricated and cooled by the water so it could last quite a long time.

what sealant do you recommend? i just need it for a project, thanks
Nice but.... Water will get in the motor very fast...
Very good
Bagus sekali ide nya

Very awesome love the idea s
You need to glue inside those hexkey screws as they loosen very easily over time.
Not as fast as a jetski. But hay i say that is really well made.
The build was very well thought of. But you went lazy on the finishing part. As you only used wires to attach it to the boat. You could have made a better system for that.
what do you suggest doing for finishing it up? I liked the idea and also thought the button on the handle was lame. foot peddle of some sort maybe?
Nice now u just need a big bracket with quads and your deep sea fishing in your lake lol
See this old house,
Microphonix Virtual Studio who cares what u want!!!!
The creators of this video is from Viet Nam, I believe they can't speak english very well for you haha
Cool this is what i need to make my movie
Good idea
Nice video but it's NEVER A GOOD IDEA to stick your fingers into the solvent of a PVC weld. It introduces skin oils etc.
What's with the coke pinky? If you use threaded fittings you could do repairs/replacements wihtout having to rebuild the whole thing.
I'd say the design needs improvements. The last clip of him cruising is sped up, probably by 2x judging from how fast the ducks are moving. He already looks slow, then look at it in .5x

excelent, you made a best word with this idea.
1:30 that rubber thingy is used to make the engine waterproof
Thanks i will like your vid
I like it
Great DIY
I would like to know if I made a boat like the one you did with 12v engine if I put a brushless motor 1000kv battery 4s it will work or I should make changes
Nice I would put some grease in the rubber seal. Can you provide the seal and coupler source- thanks
@1:30 What's the technical name for this magical device?
Ziad Jeeroburkhan That’s the rubber thingybopper that goes on before the brass doohickey
That's a part inside a DVD drive that absorbs the vibration when the disc is spinning.

Nice work man. Hello from Turkey :D
cut the bottom off a 20oz pop bottle and glue to the front end on bottom by motor may help cut thru the water a lil better with it coming to a point
super
Very good.
Top parabéns!
It is certainly better than rowing
Nice
Lots of friction on that seal. Back to the drawing board... good vid anyway
can you share the link for the small rubber bushing. thanks.. its hard to find in the market.
where i can find this watter seal? or something similar? thx
Good
