I find a dragon with a 2 queens (The more queens, the better) rather then an obsidian to be better. The queens level up pretty linearly with each other, including the dragon who in turn scales with the exponential flower/honey combo.
For example, the dragon may be doing 1000% of its own damage real late game which is 20% of the flowers damage scaling to 2x the flowers current damage output to the first wave. This by itself probably out scales the obsidian and would continue to scale.
