466s are most common as single standing engines. on the Sheerness- Sittingbourne branch line and the Bromley North Shuttle. However, you may catch a glimpse of one coupled with a 465 on other branch lines.
Hello IC82 I'm Eddie-Harpen I sent you a letter as you know, I have a NSE Class 466 and none of the traction tires are perished! These are great & the NSE 466 is actually a ModelZone limited edition model which is discontinued now!
I wonder if one of those little flexible inspection cameras would fit in there, great review as always (you got me back in to model trains about a year ago)
Ha ha! Love the Networker impression, you're dead right, that is exactly what they sound like! They are getting a bit long in the tooth now, Hornby have modeled the 2 car 466 but the 4-car class 465 units are much more common. A geeky factoid is that Networkers were built by both BREL/ABB and GEC Alsthom(Metro Cammell), with subtle differences between the different manufacturer's batches. The windows of the BREL units had much more rounded corners, for example :)
tjf4375 Honestly, every loco with a traction tire is showing their age. But even the less detailed trains look great running smoothly on any layout. After all model railroading is mostly imagination running wild on a oval. Very, very few model squirrels climbing trees, or birds building nests in trees, but we all know in real life they are there.
I live where these operate. There’s is a train bridge by the station where you can see about 2 or 3 together. Unfortunately they have blue doors and black stripe instead of the layout on the model.
Hi, just found this video. Would like to add some comments on my experinace with this model. Firstly mine is Network southeast livery. mine needed some work which has been done, hard to get some parts new and needed to use ebay. mine had been modifed by previous owner that had created complications to the repairs. how ever after all was done I took it to my local railway club and it run equally as good as my DCC network southeast VEP. runs well in both directions. have had a derailment which was caused by a broken bogie. Has since stopped doing that after it was replaced. Never had any traction trouble at all. A positive to this model you didnt mention was the sum of its parts, just about everything on this model is replaceble with little to no effort aslong as you can get the parts to do so even the windows and interior seating.
Ik. They were built around the same time and the only major differences are the cab ends (ext.) and the fact that one's a DMU and the other's electric.
That noise is the traction motor *Edit! Coming back 9 years later after buying a network southeast version. My dreams of having a layout that the younger me watching at the time would have wanted has come true! I hope Will is okay, the model railway scene on youtube is not the same without him! Stay safe everyone! Alfie.
Am I right in saying the Networkers never wore that livery in Connex SE livery? I'm sure that livery was introduced in the Southeastern (nationalised) and Govia Southeastern days and not in the Connex era.
U can obtain spsre traction tyres from Peters spares I believe, but probably run better with new wheelsets without traction tyres as it does have the weight?
Intercity82 u said u would do an irish train in ur mail opening vidio will u please do a class 201 Enterprise I am looking to get it for my burthday but there is hardly any vidios of unboxing it if u did I would be very thankfull.
G- Man Yes, if you live in America. But don't use British Hornby transformers/power bricks in the US, although there is no problem with using a Hornby controller. Model Railway Imports of St. Catherines, Ontario in Canada sells US/Canada transformers with the power plug to a Hornby controller. Check their website.
Hey Will you should do a opaning of the normal verson of the big boy 4-8-8-4 by hornby wich in New Zealand is $844.99 and one day I will send you in a locomotive for you to keep and I like your videos and they are really cool
I think unfortunately, this model came ahead of its time. If this model was to be redone to modern standards, it would be excellent and would complement other southern EMUs on the market today. That being said, it was very impressive for 2003. Nice review anyway. Joe.
Jack Collins No I meant southern as in the region. There's Class 411s and 416s that would look good alongside this unit and it will complement the forthcoming Southwest Trains Class 450. I should have said 3rd Rail EMUs ;) I am aware that this is SouthEastern :)
The side looks like a 466 but the front cab looks kind of like a brel 465/0,1 because of the lack of ac looking thing on the hood of the cab. Still looks nice though not really complaining
Class 01-70 are diesel. 71-79 are third rail locomotives. 80-93 are overhead locomotives. 97 are departmental, 98 are steam locos, 99 are steamships. 100-131, 139-172, 175, 180, 182, 185, 201-207,210, 220-222 and 250-255 inclusive are DMUs. units 300-399 and 700-899 inclusive are overhead EMUs. 400-599 excluding 499 are third rail. I am unaware of what happened to units 132-138, 173-174, 176-179, 181, 183-184, 186-200, 208-209, 211-219, 223-249, 256-299, and 600-699 went. unit 499 was a miscellaneous unit. I hope this is helpful for future reviews on diesel, electric and DMU/EMU models Peter
It would be good if you could get two new drive bogies and install both, one for each coach. That would give you new traction tires and more power. But I doubt you could buy them, which is a shame. It is a good looking model.
I've had one of these since new 2001 in Network Southeawst Commutor (Red/White/Blue Livery). a bit of a dog really, it's far too heavy for the drive/traction, tyres didn't last, replaced with "BULLFROG SNOT' synthetic rubber liquid brush-on, only runs in one direction with bogie pulling (too heavy to go the other way), stalls on R2 curves, Cat's Whiskers guards fragile and broke off. Has had only about 30-40 mins run time then relegated to the store cupboard. An idea to put another poweree bogie in the other car (but no spares available) or to drill out the bottoms of the cars to lighten them then cover the holes and repaint. A Round Tuit!
When you said you saw 8 car unit emus you actually saw a class 465 emu which is a 4 car version referbished along side class 466 emus by hatchit who also made the stock of 29 class 395s the only high speed line in the uk These trains have a 30-35 year life expect emcee similar to the class 375 now referbished into blue livery Class 466 has been referbed bit has same engine Class 465 has been referbed but had a new engine and only 1 original SE livery with origanal seats and motor still runs Chech out my channel for morn information
Wow, so that is now 21 years old!!! ❤
Ah. She sounds like the 466 I was riding this morning!
love that sticker about your famous skirting board, can't believe I have not noticed that until today!
if you don't know what a skirting board is, the sticker is placed on the board itself.
2.48 the sound effect you made makes me laugh out loud
intercity82 i love your videos.
my first video was the class 37 now i love the class 37 thxs for all you do.
Rail Bro Nice! Thanks for the comment - and I love the 37 too, who doesn't? haha
466s are most common as single standing engines. on the Sheerness- Sittingbourne branch line and the Bromley North Shuttle. However, you may catch a glimpse of one coupled with a 465 on other branch lines.
That sound effect is actually good😂😂
Will, you need to record that motor sound you made and put it on a sound chip 🚈
northeast74 HAHAHAHAHAHA
+InterCity82 hey there I really like one of your model trains and please let me know about the other model trains
xnortheast74 ruclips.net/p/PLWduEF1R_tVZ_XaEL5DIcrurWyFMTW4kz
They sound like the Jubilee line they do, like a f1 car.
your right I take 1 of these things weekly and finally i found a great english youtuber that doesnt swear :)
Hello IC82 I'm Eddie-Harpen I sent you a letter as you know, I have a NSE Class 466 and none of the traction tires are perished! These are great & the NSE 466 is actually a ModelZone limited edition model which is discontinued now!
Hornbylad200 That could be worth something in the future so look after it! It is also possible to replace traction tyres that have perished.
I wonder if one of those little flexible inspection cameras would fit in there, great review as always (you got me back in to model trains about a year ago)
Blade sawyer Cool! And thanks. And not a bad idea - but would be better if I painted the seats and stuck some people in there.
17:46 That sounded like "Ignore that Class 08. He's just playing with some drugs
It could be trucks rather than drugs, makes more sense
@@Channel-ij5px I know what he actually said.
@@cookoo4cocopuffs221 he said drugs
I really love the class 466 and great video .
Runs just as well as the full size Networkers! lol
I LOVE 466'S!!!
Lets just hope Hornby or Bachmann make one of these.
365 510
Lol, watching that class 08 pull those hoppers full of rocks that you tested those other locos with :-p
Ha ha! Love the Networker impression, you're dead right, that is exactly what they sound like! Erm, I meant the real units are showing their age, not the models. And you've completely lost me with the squirrels....
tjf4375 Thanks for the info! And glad you liked the 466 impression haha
InterCity82 Ha ha! No probs, yeh the impression was spot on! :)
I used to drive 466 units in the 90s and they were about as reliable as the model so true to form.
real ones ?
I live where these operate. There’s is a train bridge by the station where you can see about 2 or 3 together. Unfortunately they have blue doors and black stripe instead of the layout on the model.
Ah the good ol' Connex logo, where have I seen that before? ;)
Moleman :D you watch intercity too !?!
I've met him irl :P
Moleman978 awesome
Moleman978 NO THERYRE SHOCKING!!!!
чш
Omg I remember this are used to watch this when I was 7
I went to a model railway exhibition in Launceston today and one of the trains i saw there was very, VERY long with an American Union Pacific loco.
There is also a class 465 which is identical except it's 4 cars long and often runs in 12 car formations
Yep, London Victoria to Orpington
Crystal Palace High Level That's it!
You are the best at reviewing trains
These used to run on the Blackfriars to Sevenoaks line with Southeastern now its just class 319's with thameslink
Hi, just found this video.

1 WHEEL That is insane! 🤔 😮
The class 466s cab is really close the class 166s cab (interior)
Ik. They were built around the same time and the only major differences are the cab ends (ext.) and the fact that one's a DMU and the other's electric.
AviaTent YT Yeah because the 465 and 466s came from 165s and 166s
The warning on the front is for the 3rd rail not overhead wires and the coupling one the front of the cab looks like a standard autocoupler
I used take networkers a few years ago and every single time I saw a 466 I would get really exited
Ic82 you are the best LNER 377
That noise is the traction motor
*Edit! Coming back 9 years later after buying a network southeast version. My dreams of having a layout that the younger me watching at the time would have wanted has come true! I hope Will is okay, the model railway scene on youtube is not the same without him! Stay safe everyone! Alfie.
I wish you have a video of the 466 with 9 coaches
I compared this to the 166, and they look pretty similar
Edward's Branchline Productions 2016 both part of the same family of trains
In Australia we always see 8-car trains. Go to google images and search Cityrail or Sydney trains.
IC82, will you be uploading a video of the loco at Crewe works possibly?
Jacks Model railways No - it was only minor work and not really worth a video.
InterCity82 ah well. Just wondering
Your name needs an apostrophe btw.
nice brush motor impression
Could you put liquid gravity on the underside of the boggy to give it for weight for traction? Great review well done.
Jacob Porrett It needs LESS weight - not more lol
Oh right. Sorry
InterCity82
me like noises you did in the begining of the video:)
466 is my favorite
Am I right in saying the Networkers never wore that livery in Connex SE livery? I'm sure that livery was introduced in the Southeastern (nationalised) and Govia Southeastern days and not in the Connex era.
I drive these for a living! Shame they don't do these in dcc!!
acctually my b-day is this weekend and the train is 2 years older than me
that was a good imitation of a 466 engine noises Will ;-D not that I’m a big fan of most modern Emu’s it be nice if they did redo theses
foxcell hahahaha
+InterCity82 do you have the Eurostar
+foxcell I hate the sound of 465s and 466s
InterCity82 can you do a revue on the new Hornby Eurostar
+Golden Boat910 I love the sound its soooo awesome
U can obtain spsre traction tyres from Peters spares I believe, but probably run better with new wheelsets without traction tyres as it does have the weight?
L
holly hall
what did you do to make it run better as I have one how do I fixit?
Oliver Beauchamp It's still not perfect and will need new traction tyres next.
oh ok I have taken the weight out of the dummy what else can I do to it?
Oliver Beauchamp The motor may need servicing.
I also have this model as well 466020; and yes they do run out of Victoria
Had to double take - really thought you said "Never mind that Class 08 there. He's just playing with some drugs"...
JudgeJoker lol not quite
Intercity82 u said u would do an irish train in ur mail opening vidio will u please do a class 201 Enterprise I am looking to get it for my burthday but there is hardly any vidios of unboxing it if u did I would be very thankfull.
Anthony Foy I think a lot of people have suggested the Class 201 so I will see what I can do.
Do you think that the doors and windows look like the class 323 what do you think
very nice loco
For me it's normal for a train to go on the outer track that way because I live in NYC and that's basically an everyday thing.
The southeastern electrostar (this train) goes to 12 coaches. That's normal for me
It's a Networker, not an Electrostar.
Hey Will! really love the channel do you have xbox one or 360?
ThatIrishLad I do! But rarely get chance to play on them.
ah you have both when u do play on them what do u play?
IC82, can hornby trains run with American track and transformers?
G- Man All OO models should run just fine on HO scale track using your typical 12-15 volt transformer.
There's a blue version of the connex subruan blue I think its Gatwick express
Kaviraj Nosib Rings a bell - think I may have seen that one.
You know they replaced some of the motor sounds with Built Brell.
I am pretty sure Hornby released this in NSE livery in 1997 not 2003
Alan Thomson Yeah, I thought it was older than that too, but the Hornby Guide website says it's 2003/20054.
Very nice, obviously heavy, the level crossing at the conservatory doors was going up and down!!
***** You spotted that too?! haha
Adds to the realism, noticed it with the expresses on the Sunday short too, some track also, very real!
Hey Will you should do a opaning of the normal verson of the big boy 4-8-8-4 by hornby wich in New Zealand is $844.99 and one day I will send you in a locomotive for you to keep and I like your videos and they are really cool

Ah ok
Joe Jabczynski Thanks for the comment!
did u go to the model railway exhibition at ally pally?
i love this train
Where I can get this model tracks and trains
I was trying to find these trains i typed them i wrote class 350 model or something but it won't show it
what's the product code? As you haven't put it in the description.
That happened to my sir Chris Hoy only worked one direction
The side looks like a 466 but the front cab looks kind of like a brel 465/0,1 because of the lack of ac looking thing on the hood of the cab. Still looks nice though not really complaining
Please review the grand central it is good
I like the white livery
I've got that!
Try getting the class 376/377
Class 01-70 are diesel. 71-79 are third rail locomotives. 80-93 are overhead locomotives. 97 are departmental, 98 are steam locos, 99 are steamships. 100-131, 139-172, 175, 180, 182, 185, 201-207,210, 220-222 and 250-255 inclusive are DMUs. units 300-399 and 700-899 inclusive are overhead EMUs. 400-599 excluding 499 are third rail. Peter
I have one in networks southeast livery but my brother broke it :/
Hey ic82! This is my new account and I used to be +CaptainConnor03. Also, when are you going to do the class P2
HistoryFanatic 03. I'll get through some of the models that have been sent in first.
OMG! The unit is one number, all multiple units are in England, it looks like there's a mistake there...
do the london underground
It would be good if you could get two new drive bogies and install both, one for each coach. That would give you new traction tires and more power. But I doubt you could buy them, which is a shame. It is a good looking model.
befrank88 An interesting idea, thanks for sharing!
It's fine is it goes that way on the outer track in the USA

its a shame hornby did not make a class 465 or 365 :(
:(
I feel so bad for this poor EMU
Whare do we buy it from
HEY THIS IS WHAT THEY USE TO USE IN MELBOURNE, but now they use boy "metro" trains. 😀😀😀😀
I just got this for £87.00 on Ebay, but it's in Network Southeast, I'll probably change it into my local livery Southeastern Railway
Dude it alredy has that livery
Tight lock couplers, not Delner :)
Where do you get it
how did you get it?
I like trains
Can you still get this model?
Yeah but they are starting to sell out now
intercity82 can I borrow one of your dmu trains
The class 465s were 3 car - they do exist!
Or a 8 car
They were 4 coaches
That’s what happened to my it made the sound but didn’t move
Cool
Where is this guy??
You mean DC on third Rail and overhead lines are AC
grate vid defenatly needs a re make
caleb lovegrove It sure does!
😍
When you said you saw 8 car unit emus you actually saw a class 465 emu which is a 4 car version referbished along side class 466 emus by hatchit who also made the stock of 29 class 395s the only high speed line in the uk
These trains have a 30-35 year life expect emcee similar to the class 375 now referbished into blue livery
Class 466 has been referbed bit has same engine
Class 465 has been referbed but had a new engine and only 1 original SE livery with origanal seats and motor still runs
Chech out my channel for morn information
