I didn't expect to see this species from you! They are one of my favorite stag beetle. Always dream of rearing them and make long type as a kid. I haven't gotten around to rear this species yet, only the cousin, P.inclinatus inclinatus. Reared it 2 years ago. I started with super short type and small females, and ended up with all source of long types and large females as the offspring. Very satisfying. Most early hatching had died from old age already but I still have some late batch left still in dormant, cuz they can dormant for more than a year like you said, especially if I put in cold temp.
Yes, I didn't really like it that much before I raised PDD. However, after seeing the adults, I have to say that it is indeed a very attractive beetle. Hopefully one day you will be able to breed PDD too.
@@m.f.beetles In market over here, we do have both PDD and PDE circling around in the market every year. I can always get them, but... I'm just too busy with my main genus. hahaha Have like 4 Odon species going at the moment.

11月初那時跟台中某蟲店買福袋抽到一對奄美鋸，真的是很漂亮的鋸鍬
不過我抽到這對，不知為何羽化後兩個多月就已經在盒子內暴動餵食果凍已經會進食，保險起見先在多放2-3個月後再嘗試繁殖看看
真是特殊，如果順利繁殖那真是賺到啦😁
感觉日本锯和奄美锯饲育过程中成活率和转化率都很高。我饲养的中国大锹幼虫最重22.6克，结果成虫后才61.8mm。
我也覺得16克出來70mm有點吃驚😅
