I am looking forward to Part Two - Part One is pretty amazing what you have done thus far with this Weeden. I am always impressed with your skills and your care bring back engines that would likely have been just thrown away by anyone else. Matter of fact, I sent a box of Weeden's to a collector in NYC that most were likely better shape than this guy you are working on. I figured they were a lost cause (at least with my skill set). I posted a vid a few days ago on my Weeden Electric 670 that I got off a Goodwill auction, it's crazy how good shape that 670 is in and someone just dropped it off at a 2nd hand store! Anyways, looking forward to your progress, Great Job mate!
Thank you very much. Quite often, it's just a matter of putting the work in, no special skills required. Just had a look at your Weeden 670 video, lovely example of a great little steam engine.
Nice old Weeden Alan, they are pretty fragile things aren't they Weeden's. Nothing at all like their cousins the Jensen's which are built like the proverbial tank - Cheers Jim
Hi Jim. Yes, most of them are pretty fragile but then some of them, the 670 and 672 are much more like Empire engines, which are also built like tanks. Cheers, Alan.
I have a vintage electric vertical steam engine I've had for years and it's missing a few pieces and I can't find out what they are, I never could find another like it until recently it's in England and he don't know much about his because it's incomplete, and I don't know where to go from here, I know they made more than 2 of them, I'll try to figure out how to send you some pictures of it
Thanks for sharing 👍
I see another great restoration comming.
I hope so. Needless to say there were other issues I wasn't aware of 🙂
Nice work Alan. It's coming up great. You do a thorough job. Cheers Rob
Thanks Rob. Been spending a lot of time on airguns recently, thought it was time to get back to some steam engines 🙂Cheers, Alan.
its scrubbing up well Alan
i must remember that oven mate trick👍👍👍👍🚂🚂🚂🚂
cheers
kev
Thanks Kev. Yes, Oven Mate is really good for removing soot and carbon deposits. It's also a pretty fair paint stripper. Cheers, Alan.
Great engine Alan. The Ovenmate did a good job. The boiler didn’t even look like brass to start with. Looking forward to the steam up. Cheers Nobby
Thanks Nobby. As I said to Kev, Oven Mate is really good at removing sooty carbon build up plus it's a pretty fair paint stripper too. Cheers, Alan.
Lovely engine you have there Alan I can’t wait to see it finished and running
I recently picked up a weeden 20 that needs some attention also
Thanks. The Weeden 20 is a lovely engine, I'm lucky enough to have the "Big Giant" version. A great runner 👍👍
