  • Since this is the first video of the new year, I thought it only prudent to start off with a video discussing New Year’s Resolutions. I despise New Year's Resolutions so in today’s video I’m going to share with you 5 reasons why setting goals is better than making resolutions.
Here are 5 reasons why goals are better than resolutions:
    1. Goals are detailed
    2. Goals are deliberate
    3. Goals have a timeline
    4. Goals are measurable
    5. Goals are motivating
The bottom line is that it’s a lot easier to achieve a goal because it’s more tangible with set timelines and expectations rather than feeling like a chore. Now it’s your turn do you set resolutions? Could your resolutions be better achieved if you turned them into goals?
Let me know in the comments.
One of my goals is that after every single video, I provide you with another video that feel will help you find more success in self publishing.

Thanks for this. I am 74yo and crippled with arthritis. Motivation is important. I'm constantly aware that I don't have much longer to finish projects. I have several books almost ready to publish. My first book is a novel published by a company that is not promoting it, so I'm going to self-publish now. Thanks for all you do.

You're quite welcome. I completely understand where you're coming from. I have 4 books that are "almost" ready to publish. I've found goals are a great way to schedule out the launch of each of the books. For me, if I focus on one at a time, I have a much better chance of reaching the goal than if I try dividing my time.

Completely agree with this one. I've set goals and made plans for 2024. Not resolutions. Goals and plans can adjust as needed during the year, got to build in some flexibility 😸

Thank you for this video and I couldn’t agree with you more 😊 I have a goal of publishing my memoir which needs to have names changed for my children’s sake. I have low content books under my name, do I use a different account if this book has a pen name and different author page so my other books aren’t connected to it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, I would suggest using a different pen name. Amazon algorithm looks at what similarities buyers have with each other to know who to show your books to. For example, if you create puzzle books and now you publish a memoir, your normal customers probably don't by memoirs and people searching for memoirs probably aren't looking for puzzle books.
And if Amazon doesn't know your book is for, it won't show it to anyone.
I hope this helps not only answer your question, but explain why.
