    I just thought of you as I was watching Dr. Angela Puca's latest lecture on her YT channel Angela's Symposium. The lecture was called Hermetic Qabalah explained. At 23:05 she says that Jewish Kabbalah is a closed system but Christian Cabala and Hermetic Qabalah are derived from it, but not closed. Jewish Kabbalah itself derives from Merkaba mysticism. This was a very interesting lecture for me, because I've been contemplating the same question as you. I thought you might like to check it out 😊.

    Connolly tarot is so cute. The meanings in the guidebook are very different and interesting. It’s got hot pink all throughout it and little angel cherubs randomly show up several times. These are my favorite things about it 😊

    I have the water alchemy deck in Spanish because I like giving my mom and grandma readings in Spanish. I love it so much. I see what you mean about the images being cheesy but it makes me love it more lol something about it reminds me of the 90s when I was obsessed with ocean decor and all my school notebooks had whales or dolphins on them.

      Oh definitely, it’s a nostalgic kind of cheesy!

    I really recommend the zine “FYMA: A Lesser Key to the Appropriation of Jewish Magic & Mysticism” by Ezra Rose as a quick and intersectional intro to the topic.

    The Awakening was my 1st Bodirsky deck--love the art of Shadow lands & her others, but none spoke to me so directly as this. It hasn't left my side for 4 months now. The guidebook is probably the best in my collection, but the cards are so talkative even without it! If you do get this one I'll be very interested to see your review! Love your channel--have a good weekend!

    Pasta Tarot has quickly become my fav RWS clonish deck. The more I use it, the more I see how cleverly it is done. (I don't intend to make you do anything though. If you have an RWS deck, you don't need any clones. But it's obvious you know that already....)
    Dirt Gems is on my wishlist too. I think there are enough hints in the images on the cards to give one an idea what the plant might be about. But then, I'm biased when it comes to plants... Dawn Michelle did complain in a video that she doesn't get anything from the images, so it might not work for everybody.
    What, wait, there is a Gill guidebook? I might need that! [edit: just checked a preview and might actually not need it ;) ]

    I have the Astrocodes deck, absolutely love it. I just recently acquired it was on my list, I have not used it yet. I also have the Astromatrix, but I found a few indie decks that were more for me, but, I do love the Astrocodes deck.

    Ooh, lots of shiny pretties! I do love a Monica Bodirsky book, they're always jam packed with lots of info and I love that she always does multiple prompt questions for every single card.
    I'll be interested to see how this shakes out for you, which ones you end up getting and which ones you decide to pass on.
    Always a fun time watching/listening to you, thank you for sharing. x

      @khan7459 5 месяцев назад

      yes, same here. But I'm quite good lately, as this year I'm at a journey to anti-haul as much of my wishlist as possible, step by step, slowly but permanently. the ones I can't delete yet, are transferred to a "maybe wishlist". And I started with all decks that feel clone-ish or redundant in any way. Because they will only steal time from decks I have and love.

    The guidebook for the shadowland tarot is absolutely incredible and id say it’s worth it even if you don’t feel the cards are something you’d work with often. If you want to do any sort of emotional/shadow work with the tarot, it’s an incredible resource.

    I really wanted the Under the Oak Tarot until I saw the guidebook and courtcards. The guidebook seemed to say nothing about the art (meh) and there is one suit in which all the court cards are just these very same-y stones. So now that's no longer on my list.

    • @TarotMagpie
      @TarotMagpie  5 месяцев назад

      Same-y court cards is a huge no for me, so I’ll have to look at some walk through! Shame about the guidebook too

    Dirt Gems is great; first one card draw, the book made me cry (which doesn't happen often). I got the e-book copy of Red Tarot too but ended up getting the hard copy -- so good. Enjoyed seeing your wishlist. For herbs, Herbcrafter's is on my list. ❤

    Well now my book wishlist has grown! 😂 I have the Astrocodes deck and really like it, but it does feel the same as many other astrology decks. Lisa Papez just did an anti-haul and discussed why she’s not keeping the Under The Oak Tarot FWIW.

    The Magician is so cool in the Connolly Tarot, that deck was on my list. I have The Gill Tarot, but I have an older version. I found a few at the local thrift bookstore by chance.

    Hello, a new(ish) subscriber here 👋. I often watch reviews or flip-throughs with the sound off so I’m not influenced…otherwise I would probably buy everything! 😂 Just a comment on Under the Oak - have a look at a flip-through. I loved the artwork initially but a couple of cards were a bit of an issue for me (may not be for you so I won’t mention which!). Really interested in those astrology books as I want to learn more about that. As for the Kabbalah, my understanding is that there is the Kabbalah connected to Judaism and then there is that which has been adopted by the ‘occult/esoteric’ community. So it can be quite complicated and I haven’t ventured down that rabbit hole myself just yet!

    Ok, I am so into Kabbalah, tarot, astrology and thoth. I started with that path and I was hooked. It so intrigued me. I also picked up M.M. Deleen decks that follow along the Thoth and T. Susan Chang. I have a Decan walk on my list to do. I have so much on my to do list, at times I overwhelm my self. I need to stay off of Kickstarter. I found a Tree of Life Kabbalah tarot deck that will end soon. There is also a great section on Etsy in this catagory. I had to buy that set you showed here. Amazon on shows one deck left for the Spirits. Glad to see you back in action.

    I posted a flipthrough of Under the Oak recently. I LOVE IT. The guidebook is not particularly fantastic; however, most of the images follow RWS well. In that 5 of pentacles, they appear to be making more money... a sort of flip / breakthrough of sorts after being poor. That's the only card I can really think of that super threw me for a loop before. The swords court cards are all similar-looking, but I don't really mind that much (personal preference).
    Dirt Gems is HIGH on my list! I love that the cards are put into suits.
    The Neuroscience of Tarot book looks so up my alley. I might have to pre-order that one! 😊
