Peanuts in your Coke is an old Country thing. I did it when I was a kid. Barbara Mandrel mentioned it in "I Was Country When Country Wasn’t Cool". Pepsi and milk, commonly referred to as “Pilk,” has a rich history dating back to the 1970s sitcom “Laverne & Shirley.” The show’s character Laverne DeFazio, played by Penny Marshall, frequently consumed Pepsi mixed with milk, often referring to it as “milk and Pepsi.” In regards to ice cream and crackers, try ice cream and pretzel chunks. Blue Bell had a flavor called sweet and salty crunch that was milk chocolate covered pretzel pieces in vanilla ice cream and it was fire.

I grew up on coke and peanuts and I've never seen someone use a glass. The logic is that in my great grandpa's generation when you had a long walk to and from school or work, you could buy a packet of peanuts and a glass bottle coke for not much money. Then you take a sip or two and fill the space with the nuts. After a minute or two the flavors meld and you can get a few peanuts in your mouth to crunch on with each swig, and you can walk along and have a salty sweet treat without needing to stop to eat. My gramps taught me about it and I've carried it into adulthood.

    • @J-Tiger7
      @J-Tiger7 6 месяцев назад +3

Same here- never seen it drank from a glass or cup. We’d buy a glass bottled Coke preferably or plastic bottle if that was all they had & empty the pack of salted peanuts in there. Every now & then we’d get a pack of the hot peanuts for something different, but that was mostly done by the ole men lol

okay, I'm going to go make that Eggo/7-Up/OJ drink. That being said....one of my favorite things to eat is getting some good quality pita bread (the ones with the space inside...not the bready flat kinds), and you put Prego Spaghetti sauce on it, add big chunks of mushrooms (not the sliced ones...the whole button ones in a jar), cover with some mozzarella and sometimes a little crumbles of goat cheese. It's SUCH a good pizza, even though it's spaghetti sauce. The pita crisps up, and the outer edges of the pita that have spaghetti sauce caramelize into a sticky delicious edge. Highly recommend!

The OJ, coffee creamer and 7-up is very similar to a drink called an Orange Julius that was made by a popular mall kiosk chain in Canada - they used fresh squeezed OJ, a big scoop of their secret ingredient - which was just sweetened powdered coffee creamer, and chipped ice, topped up with soda water. Try pepperoni and cashew pizza. It's delicious since the cashews cook and release their oils and soften up, and the cashews actually turn semi-sweet. Try to find the low-sodium cashews though.
My parents made this when I was growing up, they said they found it somewhere in California, I assume around San Diego. It's great!

    👍🏻 My personal combos ..
⭐ Toasted: egg (fried), cheese (cheddar, gouda), and Pecks Anchovette or Redro (fish paste, think mashed sardines and anchovies).
⭐ Toasted: chicken mayo, cheese, and chutney (Mrs Balls peach chutney).
⭐ Toasted: bacon (fried), banana (fresh, slices), and brinjal (fried, and seasoned with Worcestershire sauce).
⭐ Swiss muesli with milk and 5-7 drops of bitter almond extract per portion, plus optional sweetener.
⭐ Popcorn with butter, salt, and powdered cloves (instead of black pepper)
⭐ Fresh crisp lettuce dabbed with Bovril (similar to Marmite, but better. Like thick spreadable beef bouillon. Used to be made from ox blood, but now they use nutritional yeast)

@@beckycaughel7557 Thanks! Yes, it works particularly well if the muesli includes dried apple, apricot, or cherries, because their seed kernels or young shoots naturally taste of bitter almonds.

A bowl of old fashioned oats made with skim milk, a pinch of salt and three types of hot pepper flakes. Then add chunky peanut butter and raw honey. It’s sweet, savory and spicy - so good.

A lot of this stuff is high/drunk snacks.
The apple pie with cheddar is actually a regional thing.
The OJ, 7up and coffee creamer is basically an Orange Julius - that was the same thing they were shooting for with the OJ and milk.

You have to spread the peanut butter thin on the bottom bun, good mayo on the top bun for the burger. Definitely even better with sweet pickled jalapenos and bacon.

You gotta add Coca Cola to your Orange Juice and Milk drink! Also a touch of vanilla extract. And frozen orange juice concentrate + additional ice in a blender is the best because it can basically be a shake.

Anything crunchy and salty with ice cream is solid...particularly pretzels, etc. Pretzel chips laid over an ice cream cake can add a wonderful crunch factor, etc.
