Nera320 Cumbaya is the best zone, it is about 30 minutes from quito, but it has schools, hospitals, malls, everything you might need. However, prices can go as high as $8,000 per square meter.

A family friend of ours owns a hostel In Quito he says when people come to Quito some have complaints about the weather or the traffic or complaining about anything... & they never end up leaving..almost as if Quito has a spell casted on them. They end up staying for months on end.

How the fook are you even breathing at 9350 feet altitude. Did you just go there cold turkey style or did you follow an aclimatization plan or something?
I've been a lot higher than that. On my last trek in Nepal I hiked up to 18,000 feet. 10,000 feet isn't really a big deal, unless you're especially prone to altitude sickness. It just depends on the person, but it's never been a problem for me. And also it helps if you acclimatize beforehand at lower elevations. I flew into Lima, Peru, went to a city at 5,000 feet and stayed a few days, then went to Cusco which is at over 10,000 feet. Then later I went on a day trip in Peru up to 16,000 feet. So I've been at high altitude lots of different times.
My wife and I think about retiring in Cuenca....or Chiang Mai, Thailand. We prefer cool weather but we keep hearing people say in Ecuador you should not walk around after dark because of robberies. We speak Spanish. But we worry about safety. Thoughts ? Thx !
Both are nice small towns and I would say perfectly safe. Of course it will help a lot in Ecuador that you speak Spanish. Between the two, I would probably choose Cuenca over Chiang Mai.

I do not know about Thailand but murder rate in Ecuador is around 5 per 100000 people which is around the same as in the us (4.5 per 100000) on top of that Cuenca is one of the safest cities in Ecuador

O povo tem culpa total nisso. Aqui o povo pensa que só quando ficarmos "ricos", dai sim teremos cidades mais bonitas e limpas. Coisa que não vemos em outros povos ao redor do mundo. Na Europa existe centenas de cidades mais pobres que SP, e são 100x mais limpas, e bonitas.

The hospital is just around where my grandma is in quito, nothing bad has ever happened to me there

Yeah it seems quite safe to me and the people are very friendly. Not sure about the crime rate but I think it must be fairly low.

With your videos, I saw that my city (Sao Paulo) is very ugly, dirty, messy, close to any other city in South America.
