The Erbauer is a good value set of boxes- the ToughSystem is exactly that- a system. It can be configured to thousands of different combinations, allowing fine tuning to suit different trades. It focusses on ruggedness and flexible use, which affects its design. For instance, it is airtight. DeWalt also do the TSTAK range, for less extreme use, probably a better choice for internal workspaces. TS2 also features no hand joining and one hand separation- an answer to the Systainer. Probably top of the toolbox heap is the Packout system- even more configurable.

I've just bought three sets of three boxes today. In the UK, they are currently available from Screwfix for £110 ($134 inc tax, £60 ($73) off) The small box is different in the Screwfix set, having a transparent lid and sorting containers. In the UK, these transparent boxes are not available separately, hence me getting three sets! I'll make a video describing this set later.

Great review, thanks! I've had my eye on this Erbauer for a while. It looks solid, clips on solid...

    Very good video, thanks.
I wouldn't fancy lift multiple boxes by the wire clips/handles when the are loaded with heavy tools.

It's not particularly bad. The clips have a plastic covering on the middle section. I use the clips on the top box to adjust the position of my triple stacks where there isn't enough space to manoeuvre them using the wheels. All three are full of tools. The small one is full of hand tools, and the larger two have mainly Makita cordless tools and 5Ah batteries. They are pretty heavy. I wouldn't let that put you off the system.

I really hope they bring out a set of drawers for the erbauer. I've found the Erbauer range to be very decent quality for the money you pay for it.

Nor would I….but!….I would rather lift a heavier load with two hands rather than one.
      Great video.

@@dreadpirateroberts4052 I've had a set of JCB boxes ( they are the same as these)for over 7 years, they are bomb proof and lifting the boxes by the side handles is fine. I've also got the Milwaukee packout set and actually prefer the JCB, Erbaurer, ridgid set especially if working outside the Milwaukee packout slots that hold the units together fill up with water and you have to turn the whole thing upside down to empty the water out, the Erbaurer ones you can just wipe down as the tops are flat. Also you can stand on the Erbaurer bottom box and open the boxes when they are stacked together. The only downside is the Erbaurer narrow handle.

Thanks! Found while looking for Ridged system having watched some reviews over the pond. Seems they don’t sell them here in UK? Erbauer are the same then!?

The UK Erbauer is identical to the 1st generation Rigid boxes. In the US those have become rare now. The two systems do have the ability to clip together, but there are some differences.

there not a bad looking box. some nice features. its nice of them to include that piece of steel with the holes. looks perfect to back a few energancy washers or brackets out of.
be honest how long have to spent looking for that lid before remembering its on the bottom of the other one. i would be constantly looking for it.
that bottom box would make a nice router table . taking lid off completely would give loads of room to work on it saferly

I have had 'where is the lid?' moments, but it's a bit wider and deeper than the middle box, so it is obvious where it is, even when I have 4 or 5 of the middle boxes out.

I had no idea that section was removable in the base of the erbauer rolling base. I've had a few jigsaw blades down there for a while😐
Also had no idea what the rod was for. I just left it but that's so cool
