Thanks for the information, I‘ve got the Flip fly more combo, but haven’t tried to charge all batteries at the same time. When I’m at home usually there’s enough time to charge them one by one. And when I’m out flying I use a power bank to recharge them last used battery.
I knew this but others might not. Thanks for the video. I have 2 100w chargers. I think I’ll look into one with more ports to also charge the controller at same time. Thanks
I've been using the Asus 100W USB-C charger for their ROG laptop and this has been working fine for simultaneously charging the batteries with the DJI Flip hub. These Asus ROG chargers are a LOT cheaper than the DJI one! I usually use 2 of these Asus 100W chargers with a LKTOP 200W Air 3 battery charger to simultaneously charge all 3 Air 3 batteries, so had them handy when the Flip hub finally arrived.
Its indeed the reason but when i pushed dji support on this they didn't want to comment on why they don't support 20volt/5a or 28v/5a instead. Getting one of their chargers works but bringing a extra charger is no fun and there is no options for powerbanks. Its just kind of sad they decided to avoid the much more common level of 15volts/3amps limit and jump to 20volts or 28volts then many including brands like anker chargers and powerbanks would work.
last year a purchased a 400W charger which sorted all the problem with all the drones ... cost around £60 .. 👍 having said that DJI should have made it clear in the instructions ...
@@TonyHolmes-z9r show me your DJI flip charging two batteries at once with a 60w charger then you can prove us all wrong can’t you :) make sure you post the link here so we can all tell DJI they are wrong too
in short: 1. read manual, 2. you can use any fast phone charger. I using xiaomi 67w charger from my Note 13. It also depends on the usb cable. But there is always a chance that such power can shorten battery life. I would never connect it to a controller
Oh my actual god, people like you make this platform so bloody frustrating, watched the first 3 seconds and gave your opinion. No, you can’t just use any fast phone charger whatsoever, and as for your first point - no it’s doesn’t tell you what you need in the manual. For god sake actually watch a video before commenting
Does your charger have 15 volts at 4.3 amps? The DJI manual wasn’t clear. The DJI flip charger will only charge one battery at a time without the voltage and current as I mentioned above. Gavin has proved that with clear and concise information. Also the charger will only take the current it needs so it won’t shorten the battery life. There is intelligent electronics within the charger.
I have every confidence in Gavins video here is the facts for modern chargers a USB PD (Power Delivery) charger only delivers the current that a connected device requests through a negotiation process, meaning it will not exceed the power needs of the device, preventing damage and optimizing charging speed. Key points about PD chargers: Negotiation: When a device is plugged into a PD charger, they communicate with each other to determine the optimal voltage and current for charging. Device-specific needs: The charger adjusts its power output based on the connected device's requirements, providing the right amount of power for fast charging without overcharging. Safety feature: This negotiation process acts as a safety mechanism to protect devices from damage due to excessive current.
love the way we have to watch youtube video to find this out thought DJI was meant to be good company they cant even be bothered to put this info out themselves we had wait for someone having same problem to find a solution also can get much cheaper chargers with the same specs as the dji one that work
Basically this yes. If you can find one then brilliant, we looked and either they don’t have the full specs listed or did 15v at 3A (which isn’t enough) in the end we just opted to test the DJI ones however of course if you can get one that does work for cheaper then feel free to post the link here to help everyone out
For me the Flip will be more comfortable to fly during bird nesting season as any angry bird will attack a drone. The all round prop guards will make it a safer flight when out and about. 😊
What didn’t you like about it? It’s a much better performer than the mini 3, probably on par with the mini 3 pro (now discontinued) it has flaws but it’s good value for what it actually does
@@ianfromcorby well flying by birds nesting doesn't seem like the thing to be doing with a loud drone if truly respecting nature anyway. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. This is why drones aren't allowed to fly in National Parks....they don't want them disrupting nature. If you're flying and concerned about a birds safety yes prop guards will prevent lacerations....but don't fly closer to nature because of them that's not good either. To me safer than prop guards is having a drone that can actually handle in conditions well and Flip failed many times for me and felt dangerous because of that. 🤙🏾
@ I’m not saying I intentionally fly where nesting birds are. It can happen anywhere for you me and others when flying about. I’ve been flying for many many years and feel the DJI flip is a safe drone to fly.
It doesn’t matter whether I am in a rush or not, the point is people bought this drone expecting something detailed in the manual that they were not getting because DJI did not explain what you needed for it to work, so I’m giving the information as to what to do. Maybe you should try it
@@UKMitchy I don’t think the video is picky. The manual for the flip didn’t detail what the voltage and current is required 15 volts at 4.3 amps to charge two batteries at the same time. I’ve ordered the charger and will be delivered tomorrow. 😊
I love this drone. Fits my needs perfectly at a pretty reasonable price. I think the people who are disappointed are the ones that wanted it to be something it can’t be, at its price point and under 250.
@johnd9357 people are disappointed unfairly in my opinion, the mini 4 pro has just raised the bar so high that anything DJI launch is going to be compared to that benchmark, this however isn’t designed to compete with it and is priced cheaper so people’s expectations should be lower. I like the flip myself and it does a fantastic job and I think some of the criticisms have been unfair based on my experience of it
@ yeah most of the comments I see complaining about the flip sound like “it should have obstacle avoidance! It should have more battery life! It should have tracking for cars!” On and on. I’m like you’ve literally just described the mini 4 pro which is already available. The flip fills a different niche and is priced accordingly.
I only have the Mini 3 but still love watching your informative videos 👍
Thank you! What do you think your next drone will be? I liked flying the mini 3 myself
The mini 3 is a better drone.

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated. . Could we use a 100 W with 5 amp charger on this? Thanks again, great job!
As long as it meets 15v at 4.3A then yes 👍

That charger aint bad for £45 mate 👌
Bloody powerful aswell! Cheers Graham, obviously this isn’t a video that’s going to do thousands of views but at least we got to the bottom of it
Best fix, don't get suckered into buying the flip.
We all already know that! Just use a 60w or a 80w like I do with all my DJI batteries 🙄
Well you can’t know that much Tony because then you would know a 60w won’t simultaneously charge two batteries so I’m not sure your point
Gavin I can see one big problem with that drone 😂
There’s a couple 😂🤭
😂😂😂😂
The solution to a problem is always $$ :)
Disappointingly so, could not find a charger on Amazon that listed the correct output so just bit the bullet
I know how to fix it....return it like I did! 😂 Such a junk drone.

It's a flop because of the people who have been mislead by 'pro' reviewers. Controversy just makes them money.
Go comment on those videos then, I’ve been very complimentary about the Flip and not so much on areas it’s not so good, it’s called a balanced review.
