This splendid rehearsel jam was recorded on februari 22nd 1984 in Buffalo, New York, just a few gigs before their final North American stop on The Police's 1984 Synchronicity Tour. By this point in time, The Police were at the peak of their fame and their popularity so widespread that they had arguably become the hottest ticket on the planet. Having spent well over a year performing the Synchronicity tour repertoire, they had little need to actually rehearse anything, so this rare soundcheck recording presents a relaxed side of the group that few have heard, and where they essentially entertain themselves.
According to an 'Andy Summers Bootleg Experience' reaction on Soundcloud it contains a guitar solo from 'Paiting & Dance’, a record which Andy recorded just before together with Robert Fripp.
I tried to lipsync the footage a little bit with (mostly) rehearsel scenes from the early days. All footage used is around on the internet. Enjoy! - Видеоклипы
It's 2024. Do you know good music? If you're here, you Do
21 years old and here i am i know the best music AAAHHHHH
Ha, ha! 🙏🙏🙏
One of their best songs in my opinion and this is such a great version. Whoever found this and posted it has given a gift to the world.
Andy Summers gave The Police their signature sound. He wove in and out in his playing using simple and complex chords that really tied everything together...
yesssss
Stewart Copeland gave etc.
Sting gave etc.
I'd say all three had their own signature sound.
They invented their own music.
He could give Sting any sound that he asked, and some that he never thought of.
The Police had so much musical talent. Genius, really.
No-one puts frills on 'the pocket' like Copeland. Just the ultimate groovemeister.
Remo skin tuned so tight he probably scared the band!
Amazing... BUT Stewart IS the KEY to the uniqueness and unpredictability of the POLICE...He is BRILLIANT in this recording.
Incorrect . All three of them were very unique and instantly identifiable as players, and Sting as a singer and songwriter.
@@aquamarine99911 yes, but without stew, the police would have been much more forgettable. Their reggae rhythm is what makes the police so unique and timeless, it still sounds fresh compared to bands out today.
@@ATthemusician
Lots of great reggae rhythm players but without the song writer and vocalist you have nothing.
Topper Headon would have been great drumming for the police as well but who could have replaced Sting?
Even Stews dad knew they had hit gold dust with Sting as the front man!
1000% ok
@@ECCENTRICERIC69 Stewart Copeland is central to The Police because he's the one that brought them together. Neither Sting nor Andy Summers, who replaced Henry Padovani on guitar, were as keen on being part of the punk scene as Stewart was but he won them over. Swap Copeland and Heaton and The Police may never have existed.
Their incredibly unique sound brings me a sense of pure nostalgia for that time period. They were an amazingly talented band 🥰🎶
So cool. Stewart is the standout for me. Unmistakable, inimitable cadence, consistency, and artful fills.
Have to agree, there are many great but few have such a unique and distinctive sound.
1000% ok
Ditto!!!!
Andy in his element ..... this is super
A stunning find. Can't stop playing bass along with it. For me, the best three-piece ever.
Best concert I’ve ever seen MSG early eighties. Wasn’t even a fan until that show. The entire subway ride home the whole car sang and danced.
That drum sound is so lovely. Stewart Copeland's the man.
Every little thing The police do is magic...The police at their best..
Reggae with jazz and soft rock..
Nothing soft about the police
Jazzrock in sheep's clothing.Brilliant.
wow. the drum tone is so good !
It's songs like this by the Police that stand the test of time proving just how great this 3 piece bad really was they where so tight and had the stamina for full sets of perfect songs like this, I'm still in awe 38 years later and keep listening to them as others just are not as good even in modern times.
The stars really aligned when these 3 musical geniuses pooled their talent. What a band.
Je plane dans les airs. Je marche sur l'eau. C'est un truc de fou. Merci pour ce moment partagé!😉🙃😍❤
540 - meraviglioso video sui THE POLICE - ciao da VALERIO !!!!!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
We need more power trios such as The Police in todays music.
Just mind blowing, to hear that level of "playing around".
The police, bring on the night, love this song, the police were my favourite band back in the day, and still are.
my all time favourite police song never seen this before what a gem💎
Never have seen this before. The jam is Great!
Touches my soul! Omg! I love the Police forever!! 💋💋💋❤️❤️❤️
What a great life they had back then. Lots of fun times. Sting could still wear that sweater today and still be in fashion
I tend to fall in love with things that don’t suck
♥️
The three of them had just that special magic. Separately, they are all outstanding musicians but together...just wow.
so glad i stumbled upon this... just closed my eyes and listed to how WELL they played off each other. such a shame we didn't get more out of the 3 of them! Andy was the glue for sure!
Stu's drums sound so good here. Only his snare sounds like that. I can hear it from anywhere!!!!!
This video sums up everything I love about this band!! Their music was so complex yet simple enough to play different versions of the songs each time and build extensive jam sessions around every live performance. They were just too goddamn good to last forever. Imagine if they stayed around and toured every year like the Dave Matthews Band 🤯
I'd rather not imagine my favorite band reduced to a meme about grey water from their tour bus.
As much as I respect Sting (and the documentary of the same name is a great snapshot of him at his mid 80s apotheosis) I think he only understood much later what Andy and Stewart brought to his compositions. Copeland isn't heistant in describing Sting as a great songwriter but he's being very modest. Those three had such chemistry.
Always leave them asking for more..... adios amigos. What a band they were .👌
The Police captured an unique rythem and melody.
Swing, swing and Rythem! Amazing!
Thanks FYYC!, The Police, bring on the night, one of my favourite songs.
I like how they stretch out on this. It's like the Police as a slightly jazzy jam band. Some good soloing and jamming.
I can not believe I found this! Amen
OMG HOW GOOD !!!!!!!
Amazing fills by Stewart.
This is the Police jamming using the song as a theme, i'm just so seeing how good Andy Summers is as a guitarist, this is all improve from him...brilliant...and further to other comments, they give him space to do it...
Wonderful, Andy is playing Painting & Dance in the last minute.
I'm no John Cage 4'33 and what i think we hear is SPACE, between the three musicians. The clarity of Space IS the real music
Just when I want to highlight one of the guys, you realize how much the other guys bring to the table too. It was the combination of three unique voices that gave this band its utter magic.
The Police what a great band. Beautiful energy ❤️❤️🦋🦋🔥🔥🙏✌️🤟
Fantastic! I have this recording and always wondered when & where. Many thanks!! Also the tidbit about the solo. Going to see Andy in June!!!
sublime solo from Summers , thanks so much for this !
A band on top of their game - great version of this song
This version is so much better than the album version imho.
Wow. This was a dynamite practice track. Sting wrote most of the songs, but the musicality of the three of them is what really brought them to life. The home movie style footage was also a lot of fun to watch. Well done.
Thanks, CNY!
Thanks for doing this...one of their greatest songs. Miss those days when I was younger and this was all new.
Wow, what amazing sound quality, thank you for posting this! A great discovery.
There is so little of The Police outside of the official releases. Love to hear them stretch out and explore BOTN in a loose, joyful way. This totally makes my day. I ripped it and put the audio on my phone within 2 minutes of listening to it. Brilliant. Thank you for uploading.
Search for some of the bootleg recordings on RUclips. Especially the one from The Palladium. At that point they only had two albums out there and they had to stretch it out into an hour and a half I believe. “So Lonely” was a beast! They killed it!
Love this version! Kind of psychedelic!
Man what a great version. Sumo Summers is the cherry on top.
Andy Summers is way underrated.
by who?
Understatement.
Yea. He's barely mentioned when the subject of the greatest guitarists come up. He is the best.
I agree. Him and Alex Lifeson from Rush. Not sure why.
What a find! Thanks for sharing. Andy's Marshall tone is so warm and the drums sound great. Sting, rocking the fretless.
Sweet sounds coming from Andy. Such an interesting version.
One things for sure, I will walk down the aisle to a section of this masterpiece
This is an amazing version
In his autobiography and/or documentary, Andy Summers mentions his frustration with the set list and says he enjoyed rehearsals because there was an opportunity to jam and to explore the musical possibilities. I can’t understand why they didn’t just do this kind of jamming/improving during the show. Who cares about the timing of the lighting design. Not one Police fan gives a -- about fancy lights. Anyway, it was a great listen. Thanks for posting.
Totally agree, Darias. That would have made things much more exciting! But Sting's a real control freak, i.m.h.o., keeping them (too) tight. But a genius too, of course...
Sting managed to stifle Andy's playing too, preventing him from soloing and improvising during shows so most audiences thought he was just the rhythm player for "Stings band."
Agree. Andy was the true force of this band. Totally underrated. All three astounding, but the sound of the Police is Andy.
It wouldn't just be the lights. Especially in the later tours, where the keyboard sounds were pre-programmed. They should have done what the "Stop Making Sense" era Talking Heads did -- brought in extra musicians to fill out the sound.
@@aquamarine99911 By the time Sting managed to get keyboards and backing singers on stage with them, they were DONE! All the original magic was gone.
Really a great version! All playing so well together. Love that guitar solo!
One of my all time favorite Police song... this trippy space-outed take is simply 👏AMAZING!! 👏 Tea In The Sahara would be fantastic too! Thank you!
Btw: there is a shard of TEA in my BOTN remix, did you notice?
ruclips.net/video/Ll6bGhbFFDY/видео.html
Yeaahh, I did. No wonder BOTN is the first, and TITS the last... I mean the original record released in Croatia in 1986 and remastered in 2005.
1000% ok
Thank you so much I’ve been looking for this version for years!!! Stewart sounds amazing, as they all do!!! 🫶🥁
Hi, Joe. The audio recording is around on the internet, though.
A beautiful version indeed...eargasm
*The greatest among the greats!*
👮🏼♂️👮🏼♂️👮🏼♂️❤️🤞🏽
Wow what a hidden gem you’ve brought us, thank you. Couldn’t take it all in hearing this for the first time. I wish this was complete in “Around The World” video. So many ideas……
I like this much better than the concert version- this is so freewheeling and really shows what a great band they are.
Whip crackin’ snare. Love it.
Love this so much, and I want Sting's sweater 🥲
Wow!
Stewart is the 1st to catch one's ears but goddamn as I've been growing older have i REALLY learned to appreciate what a fucking talent Andy Summers is. Along with Stings song writing these 3 are the greatest for me.
The original is genius and this matches it and more
Fan for 40! years, amaaaazing video❤❤thank tou sir
I used to buy all their singels b sudes green pictured discs..saw you guys reunion tour in Amsterdam, 25!years better...
But this one❤❤❤❤😮😮
So many verision of this song its great thank you
but only one executed in this way, as far as I know...
That’s “gig tight” so free and loose but in the pocket… awsome
12-28-21 i just clicked on this. Its good. I love anything and everything Sting does. The Police were one of my favorite bands. Thx for sharing. Happy New Year to u! Stay Healthy
OHHH! nice lil jam session. These guys were _GOOD!_ l love the _prog_ genre, and l can hear all kind a good with these dudes! l hear A LOT of jazz. Especially in Stings solo work. Good musicians, good writing and dynamic playing!
Dynamic sound thanks so much.
Sting has the stegosaurus look in this video. Great song... Cool version.
fantastic video
Great Version, a brilliant guitar solo! Better than the original version! 👏👍🙏
This is my favourite Police track of all....I'm a purist and I still love the "original " one best but.... hell isn't this good ????
It's only rehearsel
@@iggy9955 it's great regardless
Love it. A pseudo dub version like this would have been good to package as part of a 12inch single.
Igual que opino yo, es mi tema favorito, yo lo he podido tocar a la batería y es para mi un tema especial
ruclips.net/video/f9D3rbDGSrM/видео.html :'v
This is good Version.. Tx for UP load, 👍
One of their best tracks - thanks for the upload matey.
great musicians
So cool, tasty and rare stuff: thx!
Time passages... Sting will be 71 in 2022, Stewart will be 70, and Andy will be 80 at year's end!
So...time for the new 6th (and last) Police album! ;-)
@@fyyc Yes....that's what I have been saying...one more album....it's ok if they don't tour.....sorry to those who did not get to see them live.
Yes I can see it now
"Don't Zimmer frame so close to me"
"Zimmer framing on the moon"
"Bingo in the Sahara" 🤣
The talent on show is there for everyone to see they may had their differences but on stage they where excellent I do not recall a band being so good on stage even during rehearsal
..and maybe: playing so different during rehearsel? 🤔
Actual MUSIC 🎵🎼👌
I love how they get into the grove at 4:45. All of them in sync.
Amazing version. Thanks!
welcome!
Love this song !!!
Brilliant
The Police in Japan in the early 1980s. The stuff those guys could get away with! Good tunes and good times! 🤣 #ifyouknowyouknow
Bloody brilliant 👏
I love it every time ! A1
Watched this documentary on TV when it came out.Sad that Annie Nightingale passed away recently.I remember her interviewing the band during the tour.
Love your special Versions of our favourite songs!
Thanks Roland, not a remix from me though, this time, but from The Police themselves...
This is the song i started Saturday morning all family danzing, París live versión, wonderfull spot
omg, this is great!
i will always love the version on his live record in '85
