    • @bellw5834

      This is to people in general. Sorry but being a “pet parent” is not right for the animal.
      A relationship with an animal is a completely different experience than a child and you should value it as a companion and not a child. it doesn’t live like people and you should value the experience different because they understand things different and see us as one of them.
      When you try to treat an animal as if it’s a human it can make things worse for them, especially predator animals like dogs or cats.
      It seems like they become confused about how to act and communicate to humans or even other animals of its kind.
      I’ve seen many dogs be put on death row for dangerous issues that were easily fixed with tactics more like Cesar Milan or upstate canine academy and the dogs are more comfortable with other animals and humans because they have a reason.
      If you have a “pet parent” mentality to things you can easily over spoil or over do the “they need the best life” thing and hurt yourself and the pet by doing that and you might have more issues with reading situations that could be bad.
      Most animals were domesticated to have a reason, not to just be pets and if you get rid of that there is clear proof that it hurts the animal. Animals are very smart they know they are missing something.
      Btw, if anyone says you are a mean owner to a dog or cat for being more stern or “aggressive” with training tell them that there are dogs and cats being killed because they can’t feel safe and obviously feel they don’t have a reason to live.
      Value your pets as pets because they try to communicate to you like they would with odd ones of their kind and the fascinating things they do seem to make more sense :)

    Just going to add in that a lot of the movement and flinching is due to the fish seeing or feeling something near their eyes. It elicits a reactive response.
    The pain is minimal, as mentioned, and as clove oil has a nerve deadening effect, it's not too much pain. It's more reactive to feeling something touching them. Fish are not big fans of being touched, more so when they're in an unfamiliar setting (like being out of water).

    I feel a bit like the breeding has gone too far when you have to cut off the flesh of a fish head so it can still see and swim. But then again, it's like pugs. They kind of black out in too much heat or exhaustion, but people are still gonna breed them. So yeah, even though I don't think these breeds should be being bred they are going to keep on existing, and you clearly know what you are doing and made life a little easier for this fish.

    I had a goldfish like that it was a female these kind of golfish are more friendlier than the other ones. they like people more every time I come home she immediately run in front up the glass and put her head out the water and wait for me to pet her and when we needed to clean her tank she would come up the surface you would just take her out and she wouldn't struggled she would just stay there and wait for me to put her in the other water so that we can clean the tank for her. I would recommend these kind of goldfish for first-timer pet because they're really friendly and you have to spend time with them to build that trust.

      @DeadpanVT 2 года назад +59

      Yeah this is really uncommon with this usually this doesn't happen with this kind of fish but it can happen to any of them if it overgrows. It really doesn't have to do with breeding as much as it does to do with the individual fish. Deformities can happen but this isn't related to genetics. People own pugs and Frenchies all the time and many different pushed in face dogs which are incredibly deformed inbred and prone to many genetic abnormalities and issues medically those are far worse than a fish that has some little meat that's hanging off its excess head tissue that it can't really feel getting cut off.
