For some reason the jabs don’t bother me. I just have a phobia of blood draws and IVs. But I can relate to her fear. It can make going to the doctor or hospital an extremely nerve wracking experience.

    Dear the Speakmans
    I’m Dringa vlogs
I’m completely blind, autistic and have a chronic heart condition.
I’ve gotten both vaxes, and I have needle phobia but here’s how I delt with it:
    1. I realized what turned my needle dislike into needle phobia, and that was when home health came over to draw my blood, and Mom was tapping me on the shoulder and saying “relax relax.”
The word “relax” just made it worse.
    2. I have Mom, instead, say one of my faovite words, right as he person sticks me, this works for blood draws too, when Mom says one of my favorite words, it relaxes my body also.
I also have something fun to touch and interact with, in my needle-free hand while I’m getting stuck.
Then, I always have something fun, waiting back at the house, like a fun activity, favorite food/drink, maybe a sticker, maybe an album I like to listen to, just something that makes me happy.
I made a video on that, you can see it by going to youtube and typing Dringa vlogs

I used to get flu vaccine but cannot face injections now. Mentally, my head is not in that space.

      Dear Martine Frances McTiernan
I’m Dringa vlogs, I’m completely blind, autistic, and have a chronic heart condition and also, I have needle phobia just like you, so because we’re both in the same boat, I thought I’d try and help you with some tips on how I handle needles, because I have to get my blood drawn once a month.
      ruclips.net/video/Sh9toL5c9es/видео.html
      1. My needle phobia started when home health came over and drew my blood, my nurse-trained mother kept telling me “relax relax.”
Her, saying “relax” just made it worse, and made me more tense, turning my needle dislike into needle phobia.
So, I have Mom say one of my favorite words for me, right as the person sticks me with the needle, and the favorite word helps me relax my body.
Also, I bring something fun, which I can touch/interact with, in my needle-free hand.
Another thing I do is distraction, I’m obsessed with the German language, so sometimes, I’ll touch/caress the item that I brought with me, while in my head, counting IN GERMAN, how many times my hand performed this action.
Also, have something fun, waiting at the house after the needle, such as a sticker, a fun activity, a favorite food/drink, whatever helps you, just reward yourself after the needle.

I am glad she got over her fear but not to get the covid jab. Probably the worse thing she could have had.
