Man, this is prime middle-period Scriabin. You can still hear a slight Chopin influence, but the language of the music was mostly Scriabin, at this point.
@Guillermo Jesse thanks for your reply. I got to the site on google and Im in the hacking process atm. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
Thanks for uploading! This has long been a favorite recording - I have it on an old 4 LP set of Berman recordings that I got secondhand. For me this is easily one of the best recordings of this set of etudes (along with Richter's selection). Berman's recordings from the late 50s/early 60s - culminating in his stereo version of the Liszt Transcendental Etudes (1963) - are IMHO his peak, and were long underrepresented in the catalog.
Lazar Berman The second-hardest hitter of The keyboard! Mikhail Pletnev The hardest hitter of The piano! Berman The second-rated player! Pletnev has his moments CPE Bach sonatas and Rondos and Haydn concerto no 11! The greatest pianists of All Time Are really Artur Rubinstein Grigory Sokolov Emil Gilels Radu Lupu Mikhail Pletnev Sviatoslav Richter Wilhelm Kempff Maurizio Pollini Vladimir Ashkenazy Alexei Lubimov Stanislav Igolinsky ( better than Lipatti) Solomon Cutner Maria Grinberg Natalia Trull
9:58 this feels a bit rushed, but in a good way..a controlled way..the piece should be esatalto(which means it should be overstreched and still maintain a deranged, excited, feeling) All in all, I love it❤
Does anyone else think the odd little 'coda' at the end of the second étude ( 3'00-3''04) sounds like a schizophrenic snippet from the finale of Chopin's second sonata, op. 35?
The best op.42 n.5 , along with Nikolayeva

Scriabin on a dark silent Christmas midnight hearing the thud of fireworks. 1,4,5,6,8 were gorgeous

There's something peculiar about the way this piano is tuned and I can't figure it out exactly.
Passionate music..
Played with great passion! :-)
