    I'm so glad you're doing these shows, guys. I'm not a pro installer, just an enthusiast end user that makes speakers for myself and friends, but primarily stay with 2 channels for mostly music, so I'm really looking forward to any news on that Aragon preamp. Plus, I'd be interested to get your suggestions on ways to optimize 2 channels for movie audio (phantom effects and the like). This setup could also include a single subwoofer along with the mains.

      Thanks! We're excited about this series ourselves! We have a lot of topics we're planning to cover, so *be sure to subscribe* to our channel and stay tuned!!
      We love enthusiasts! And *KUDOS* to you for building speakers for yourself and your friends 👏!
      Of course, we're movies *AND MUSIC* fanatics (Rick, our CEO who you saw in the video, plays the sax in a band! Notice it on the wall behind him) with a long heritage of 2-channel products.
      We're planning a video when we release our new Aragon preamp, so watch for that. We'll include pics (and might even have one "in hand" 😉).
      2-channel follows along with similar sonic rules as multi-channel...while 2-channel potentially has _not_ as broad of a sweet-spot, you can still create satisfying results. Play with the toe-in of course, and be conscious of the effect your room is having on the sound (sheet-rock walls, hardwood flooring, etc., you know the drill). A phantom center channel is going to be based upon your speaker's imaging abilities and your primary seating location(s). Experiment as much as you can. Even when you think you've nailed it, remember that set-up/speaker locations and try some more.
      As for subwoofer(s), even with full-range speakers, a sub (better yet, a pair) will help with the lowest octaves. Many people believe that subs make the system too "boomy" for music; but great subs, integrated properly into the system, and not turned up too loud, are fantastic additions to 2-channel systems. Remember, our hearing is most tuned to the lowest two octaves, so helping out here can often do wonders!
      Thanks for watching and for your comments! We appreciate you.
      Take care and enjoy some music soon!

      @@AcurusAragon Thank you so much for the explanation. Rick's a cool CEO indeed . . my Dad also played sax (alto). First in his big-band style jazz band in the 40's, then later as a pastor, to his congregation in various church functions. I appreciate those clean tones and always make detailed subs, to hear and enjoy every note played in a stand-up bass, both in HD jazz sound file tracks and CDs. I'm looking forward to all of your upcoming videos. Thanks again.

    Looks great, still love my Muse! Regarding ASPEQT, so if I get it correct it 'automatically' sets all PEQ's on a per speaker basis, is it limited to the 5 bands per speaker or does ASPEQT goes beyond this?

    • @AcurusAragon
      @AcurusAragon  3 года назад +1

      Yes, it sets PEQ's per speaker.
      Yes, currently the five bands. Our roadmap includes increasing those.

     @Acurus / Aragon
    Is a single measurement with the 4-mic array all it takes?
    If not, how many?
    With all of the talk about ease of use, I thought maybe your philosophy had changed from dealer-installed to end user, but then at around 9 min there was a reference to customers; please clarify.
    Thanks

    • @AcurusAragon
      @AcurusAragon  3 года назад

      The 4-mic array should be performed around the main listening position. It performs several measurements automatically.

      @@AcurusAragon Thanks, but you didn't answer the question - is one measurement with the array all that's needed?

    • @AcurusAragon
      @AcurusAragon  3 года назад

      @@noahkatz9616 Yep, one measurement with the array is all it takes. Experimenters can do additional measurements at different slightly different locations around the room's sweet spot if they want, but it's not necessary. Regarding your question about dealer-installed vs end-user: ASPEQT was designed for integrators but an end-user can use it too. The video refers to an integrator's customers.

      On an other site , you wrote about ASPEQT crossover indications in the owner’s manual.
      Speakers and Subwoofers crossover. We have to indicate to ASPEQT the crossovers .Are there any sheets about speakers brands and models and their crossover ? Which crossover to choose ? For instance , I have front speakers with 3 crossovers : 100hz/350hz/3000hz . Which one will I choose ?
      ´´ CROSSOVER
      Set each crossover point based on the capabilities of each loudspeaker and subwoofer ´´

    • @JoshuaHolko
      @JoshuaHolko 3 года назад

      @@zingzingbing Depends on your speakers capability to produce low frequencies. Its the transition from mids to low end frequencies that is the crossover we are talking about setting. Typically in a sub sat speaker system you set the crossover around 80Hz. Thats the THX specification. However, all things are not equal and it is totally dependant upon many factors including the speakers capability, in room performance etc. Based on the specifications you note above about your existing speakers I would start with a 100 Hz crossover. This is where your speakers cross over to the lower frequencies (what is the quoted low end extension of your speakers? How low do they go?). Note that 100Hz is just a recommended starting point as I dont know the real bottom end performance of your speakers. You really need to measure the in-room result to ascertain what the best crossover point is. In some ways, this is an example of where a THX speaker system can make things a bit easier. If the speakers are truly hitting their quoted numbers in a THX speaker system then the crossover should be set to 80Hz. Remember too that the crossover is not a brick wall filter - it is rolling off at both ends. So if you set a crossover of 100hz in your system that means that frequencies either side of this will still be reproduced by the speaker and subwoofer, but they will be gently rolled off as they get further away from the 100Hz point. Try 100Hz as a starting point. You may want to go lower, but you probably dont want to go higher than that unless your main speakers are really bad in the bass region.

      You are much better in the audio sphere than me.
      My front speakers are Audiovector R6 Arretée . 4.5 way speakers 23hz - 52khz
      I wonder how ASPEQT will deal with them. They have a rear midrange driver. Any importance?

    • @JoshuaHolko
      @JoshuaHolko 3 года назад

      @@zingzingbing According to what I can find online your speakers have extension down to 23Hz, which is quite good performance from a main speaker. Based on this I would start with a crossover of 60Hz in the Muse and experiment. You may want to go as low as 40 or even 30 Hz. Its hard to say exactly what to set without measuring the in room response you are getting from your mains. I doubt you would need anything above 60Hz though with those speakers.
