This video follows on from the filming at Gospel Oak, travelling further east along the North London Line to the London Borough of Islington, and to the specific station of Highbury & Islington. A fair-sized, 8-platform multi-level interchange station, its first incarnation was opened in 1850 by the North London Railway (NLR), called 'Islington' at the time. Following reconstruction in 1872, it was renamed to 'Highbury & Islington'. Another station opened right next door, or rather underground, in 1904 by the Great Northern & City Railway (GN&CR) on its underground line between Finsbury Park and Moorgate. Opened as 'Highbury', it too was renamed to 'Highbury & Islington' in 1922. Operated by the Metropolitan Railway and its successors from 1913 to 1975, it then came under control of British Rail, the line then being called the Northern City Line (NCL).

The NLR station was damaged by a V-1 Flying Bomb during WW2 in June 1944; its main building survived and remained in use until demolition in the 1960s during the construction of the Victoria Line. Some parts remain, such as a small section of the original entrance next to the present station entrance. Said present structure was opened in 1968 for the opening of the Victoria Line, which is now the main station entrance overall. Once escalators were opened the GN&CR entrance was closed, but its external structure was refurbished in 2006; it nowadays houses signalling equipment for the Victoria Line.

A number of operators have served Highbury & Islington over the years, including two now defunct services. One of these was the Crosstown Linkline, a British Rail service between Camden Road and North Woolwich (much of which nowadays was converted to London Overground, the DLR or the Elizabeth Line); this lasted from 1979 to 1985. The other was the London Crosslink service between Basingstoke and Ipswich, which only lasted from 2000 to 2002.

Highbury & Islington, as well as the whole NLL, was closed for several months mid-2010 to install new signalling systems and extend platforms for longer Overground trains to be introduced. Highbury & Islingtons ticket hall was extended during this time, along with step-free access being added for the London Overground platforms. The NLL reopened in June 2010, but the East London Line platforms didn't open until mid-2011 once new tracks were installed at Dalston Junction.
