Early on in Suits each character had a specific voice, but in later seasons the writing took a hit and everyone started to talk the same way. Every show has a little bit of "no one really talks like this," but they crank it up high from season 6 on.
the repetition of vocabulary is what does it for me, how many times "mother teresa" has been used to contrast the behavior of another character is much higher than one would ever imagine

I never could put my finger on it, but you nailed it. The show was only expected to go 3 seasons, with the premise of “non lawyer pretending to be a lawyer”. After Megan jump started the show to “Must See TV”. My complaint is Louis was a great side character, but they used him too much as one of the main leads. It is like putting Frank Burns in to replace McLain Stevenson

I’m fairly sure it’s a reference to any scenario in which two opposing sides head towards each other until one party moves out of the way. Two people driving towards one another until one swerves, for example.
A game of chicken refers to doing something dangerous and seeing who is the first person to get cold feet.
2 cars drive towards each other at a breakneck speed. Each driver is resolved to prove his mettle and refuses to slow down or turn away from the other. As the two hurl themselves down the road, they wait for the other to break away from the innevitable carnage. Just as they are about to careen into each other in a disatrous heap of flame and screeching metal one of them loses his nerve and swerves, saving himself from a certain death but losing the battle of will.
When I was a kid, me mum was on a jury in case about vehicular manslaughter. We got to go to hear the verdict, which was guilty.
Years later, I reminded her of it and she said the guy the convicted and the guy who died were playing chicken. She was disgusted with the convicted man. He went to prison.

I like Suits the programme, but the 'suits' in the show are poor quality, like ALL American suites. They should have brought British, French and Italian (and not American Italian).
