Great video . Rudd are my favourite freshwater fish, pure gold with bright red fins . Rudd, roach and bream can all hybridise so it makes for some tricky identification in a small number of cases. Really enjoyed watching
I was searching RUclips for just such a video, thanks! Because where I live also, there runs a creek - inside which I cannot see because of the thick vegetation on the banks. But lots of water birds feed there and I was wondering what they find to eat. I know that there are plenty of snails. There must be small fish, too.
Thanks Gerri. I'll go back in the spring and see what other wildlife lives in and along the stream. I am currently working on.a much longer video which is jam packed with wildlife.
Looks OK. My local stream is full of crisp packets and toilet paper. Quite a few empty cans too. We used to have brown trout but then they let sewage be pumped in. Shame really.
I know where you are and have often seen plenty of fish in there. Incidentally one of those wooden dyke bridges at Whitlingham Park is know full of fish at the back, I think it’s the one furthest from the barn. I’m guessing they are small Rudd, but you often get a decent Pike hemming them in. The water is clear so in the right light or putting an underwater light near the camera, you should get some good footage…
I had a mental image of street gang warfare when you said each fish species seemed to be on one side of the bridge or the other, guarding their own turf (weed?!)

Amazing, so many fish in such merky water.
Brilliant, short to the point and very informative. Thank you .
That was fascinating 👍🏻 There appeared to be one roach that had escaped a pike, judging by the bite mark around the dorsal fin area.
It is wonderful what you can find in various places. Great video thank you.
Bring on 100K
I had a pet Rudd once. Called him Paul.

I wonder how many people drove by thinking 'He won't catch anything without a line, bait and hook on that rod'!

Its really surprising how many fish there are in such unlikely places. A pity that the water was really too murky to see them properly.
Teeming with fish!
You gotta love roach , they are on th decline here in ireland tjanks to the commorant
