Just drove through a part of Wales that was 70mph, then up popped a bright yellow sign saying climate kills and had to spend the next 10 miles doing 50mph as per the signs. Then back up to 70mph. Are there certain parts that are more dangerous for climate change on the roads than others???? Bloody clowns the lot of them !!!

It's all about control, nothing more and nothing less. As a truck driver I see the scenario of 50 or 40mph when the motorway or dual carriageway is almost empty. Its definitely a cash cow for the relevant authorities, so why would they lower the speed when the road is running ok..
As for my truck, they are designed to be running the most efficient at 50mph plus, and this is when the engine is running the cleanest, and NOT stuck on the motorway doing 30 or 40 with a sign saying its for the clean air zone. Look at the M1 passing Sheffield, it's been 50mph for years now, and the motorway is mostly raised up as it passes Sheffield. It's all absolute BS and a money making scam. As for 20mph, I understand past schools etc at school times, otherwise they are taking the p*ss, especially in Wales, because Drakeford wants to give every illegal £1600 per month, which is way more than your average Welsh person.

Not only is it tediously slow, but i refuses to believe that sticking at 20 saves emissions.
If drivers are sticking at 20, the vast majority of people will be in 2nd gear, as 3rd is on the cusp of making the majority of people’s vehicles struggle at this speed. In my cars atleast, this means that they’re sitting just over 2k rpms.
At 30, in 4th or even 5th gear in my other car, the revs are barely above 1k.
Yes, that’s minor, but surely if every vehicle driving in these zones over the course of years are sitting at double rpms than they usually would, then this is going to cause more emissions?
I may be completely wrong, and I apologise if I am, but this makes very little sense to me.
Even my 8 speed automatic keeps in 2nd if decided to comply with these zones.

They'll soon bring out cameras that will flash you if you're under the limit! Their stupidity and greed knows no bounds. Anything to deter the motorist. In the near distopian future all private transport will be banned and the only transport will be state run. You will have cameras pointing at you and issuing penalty charges for swearing or stating anything that contravenes the official narrative. Freedom of speech and thought will be outlawed. The only opinion will be govt opinion. Those who oppose the govt will be sent to FEMA camps where they will be tortured until they submit to authority or lobotomized until they do. Read George Orwell's 1984!

All about money and nothing to do with saving the environment
The slower a vehicle goes the lower the gear needed the higher the amount of emisions the vehicle emits
Granted 20 is most likely safer say outside a school but the saving the planet shite is a total lie

If going slower creates more emmisions then this is probably the reason behind the 20mph speed limit. The mayor of london probably knows that what he says about the air quality is wrong, so he enforces a 20 mph speed limit to create more pollution to prove his claims.

I don’t mind if they fined people but giving people points for being over the speed limit by 4mph. We have now 2 million people who have more than 6 points. The only people who have benefitted from this has been insurance companies charging extortionate amounts for cover. Shame

20 mph blanket speed restriction for Wales could potentially wreck the tourist industry there!
I often travel into wales it’s such a beautiful country but this would potentially ruin my day trip - pooling around with other drivers on my bumper expecting me to go faster and the imminent threat of a speeding fine once I’m off the main routes.
Seems like a decision that’s not been thought through at all and on many roads there’s absolutely no need for it!
I agree in danger spots repeated RTC’s schools hospitals and such that there’s a valid case for it. However a blanket mandate across the entire country?!

We have had a 20mph limit on the street where I live for years, very few drivers take notice of it and some downright ignore it and do well in excess of the 30 limit never mind the 20. We have NEVER had any speed enforcement to check. There is a school and most of the residents are elderly including myself. So what’s the point?

The whole policing of the roads is out of date in regards to speeding complete cash grab. They must prop up the economy with all these fines and courses. I'm a hgv driver and have been driving since 2006 the problem is a terrible standard of driving not speeding. This last Friday(beginning of the bank holiday) sore the worst driving I've ever seen. They do nothing to actively catch bad drivers just drive around in unmarked cars goading people to speed then pulling them. This country is absolutely backwards we need proper government that live and think in the real world!

This 20 miles per hour is not working.I don't know this politician are stupid or what. The air pollution it is increased because of reducing speed limit.
