- In this episode I present you the 50s as a very special period in watchmaking. We discuss the classic vintage Chronograph Swiss and his descendants.
On of the most recent ones is the Chronograph 1952 Le Mans, made by the Company Vintro.

I came here for a watch video and i've found gold. Not the watch, but the music at the end. Thanks for the video especially for the music.
Sometimes I skip to the end just to listen to you play. I'm a huge Django and French swing/jazz fan and you are top notch. Great work!
Happy to hear that. Playing Django is sort of a mission for me ;-)
And, you're a terrific guitarist!!!
Thanks!
Exceptional guitar playing!
Great outro Tim, well played Sir!
Nice timepiece...and your playing is wonderful.
The watch that got me started was a Delbana Chrono with a Valderon. Took it as partial trade for a Beretta 76 target after I moved to the city. Still have that watch in a cigar box on the night stand. It's a treasure.
If they used the manual Seagull they could have shaved precious millimeters from that case. Absolutely love the intro theme and your excellent guitar playing, thank you for sharing that with us!
I like your music, informative review of a nice watch 👍
thank you for that, fantastic what a great end and reason to watch over and again!
Thank you, Walter.
Damn it. You mentioned about that play in the crown. Had to try it out on my Seagull 1963. Does the same thing as well
ironically that play in the crown when setting the watch would actually be useful if it hacked, because you could push it in without that very annoying slight movement of the hands that sometimes happens when you push a crown back in, after you've made sure to set it exactly to the second :(
Interesting, I've never saw it that way. But this could be convenient in a way ...
I love it, some fantastic pickin with a watch review.
You wear that ascot almost as well as Freddie from Scooby-Do, & that's a compliment indeed 👍
I really enjoyed this video and have subscribed. Not so much the shaky camera-work, but the chat was great, the opinions all clear. Especially funny about the ghastly gilt metal strap. I didn't catch your name, though, but your command of idiomatic English is fabulous. Maybe you are Austrian? Great guitar as well.
Thanks for the subscription and the kind comment. I‘m German, so pretty close to Austria.
Thank you for a great video and I love the watch and will be placing an order for one.
I learned a lot, very well explained and easy to understand. Thanks.
Always love the guitar at the end! As for the watch, I agree with other comments about it being a little too thick. Maybe it’s intended to be due to the era but it’s still a little thick for a dress shirt.
Very good explanations. Thanks Tim. 15mm! Hm. But I like the dial with its clashing dials and scales - very true to the 1940s and 50s style.
Hello. My gold plated Cauny chronograph from late 50's is about 38mm with a 20mm leather strap and a Landeron 248 movement looks awesome to me and it is still very accurate. This Vintro looks very nice...may be too thick but it is an automatic. Of course it is on the top with that brown leather strap!!!!!.
Great playing
I like this watch, looks good... but the Seagull 1963 is hard to surpass. Great looks, great movement, unbeatable price. And, it's got tons of horological relevance, for those who care about such things. I've got a 38 mm with acrylic cristal (I prefer how it looks compared to the sapphire version).
BTW, I always love to hear you play, would love to have a music video of the Dukies ;)
Very good play ! I didn't know you were a great guitar player.
Looks very very similar to a Poljot Strela. Not a bad thing because they are good looking.
@Tony Hill I noticed because I own one of them.
I agree it is slightly too big. Thanks for the information on using the tachymeter! The main thing holding me back from getting vintage or even new chronographs my fear of the servicing. I imagine the chronograph will add to the cost. Though that seagull movement is nice on that one.
I think size is great, but 15mm height is just way off for a watch of this type.
It's the added autowind rotor and mechanics for sure. I agree it's a little tall, but I'm actually pretty impressed for what you're getting at under $1000
You really look like a rock star with the guitar and without glasses )
Thank you, Roger, this is the excuse to buy the next flashy watch! :-D
I agree the gold isn't the best look for that watch, but it's really attractive and the price is reasonable. I'd seriously consider buying one in the future. Thanks Tim for another great video and of course the music! :-D
Le Mans is not a track but a town in France where the oldest sports car race takes place annually on the Circuit de la Sarthe.
Nice pickin
venus 175 😍😍😍
can u tell me how much this one costs: 18k 0.750 1602 gold elastofixo?
Hi Tim, Please consider doing a review of the Laco Bremerhaven and Cuxhaven models. Made in Germany with ETA 6498-1. Thanks!
I love your playing! But I’m not much of a jazz guy so I must ask, have you ever jammed with more blues kinda guys? If so, how’d it go?
I‘ve never done that and my impression was always that Blues players are not so keen to play Jazz because of the different harmonics. I personally like Blues in certain situations eg movies, bars etc.
Caseback Watches That is true but I think many blues players turn their backs to jazz due to lack of technical skill and or knowledge. But I feel that the converse is true for jazz players and that they could melt into a blues track quite easily with just a few tweaks.
Too thick. They should use a St19, a thinner manual winding movement, with a closed caseback. 3-4mm earned easy
I’m not sure why you would not recommend an 18K Chronographe Suisse for daily wear. I think it all depends on the individual watch. I have one and I wear mine all the time, and because of it I’ve even invested in it a bespoke watchstrap and an 18K Bulgari buckle to bring it all together. It is a very hardy watch, much less fragile than you claim it to be.
The musical watch-man would be a more apt description for your channel.
Damn Good Playing. You ought to go down to the Cross Roads & Cut Heads. LOL Referring to the 80's movie Cross Roads
Great movie and actor. Love that story.
@@CasebackWatches It is a Classic. now.
@@CasebackWatches I love the quote from Willie Brown to Eugene character. If You would spend as much time with your Hands on that guitar. As You do with them on that girls ass. Maybe you could Play.
If they made the watch handwind only they could have shaved at least 2mm off the height. I think it is way to thick for a “dressier” Watch
Puristic? I think the word you were looking for is Puritanical or simply pure. Anyway, I love the channel always.
I like the watch . It is nice but the seagull 1963 is so much better.
Might as well get a Strela Cosmos instead :-)
Talent should not be hidden. Well played. But the watch 4/10
Not a great movement, but i like the looks
It's a Venus 175 calibre, a very rugged and accurate design. I have a Chinese 1963 pattern Seagull, and like Tim's example, it's timekeeping is flawless. As you stated, it also "looks nice".
With which great chronograph movement would you replace the old Venus?
Great Guitar, you’re really fantastic, subscribe for that alone
Thank you, John!
Many of these scaled up watch designs do not work because of the increased dimensions, this particularly applies to bauhaus designs they just look lost in the larger space.Your chronograph seems to get away with it but is way too big and gold for my taste is too much..........................
I have a precista prs5 with the st19 manual wind movement which i prefer.Play more guitar for us,perhaps bring in a few friends to back you up i love jazz manouche....
Great outro!
Watch is too fat. We are not n 50's any more.
