You can buy a stripe for making arch or decor with balloons, or a base that comes with different height sticks to hold balloons and if you're in into Balloonology (making shapes with balloons to decor) you can look for on RUclips to Gustavo GG , some of his videos have English translation, but it's very well explained so if you catch one in Spanish,you can understand, it goes from simple to more complex ideas
Sticking tape to painted walls, ceilings and wooden door post can damage the paintwork. Then you'll have to repaint the entire surface, because the color will differ when you just touch up the damaged spot

Everyone, including myself, has always secured the wrapping paper to the actual gift. Not once has it ever caused a problem or got stuck to the gift or damaged the gift or anything.....so what exactly is the problem with putting tape on the gift?

There are probably some zero waste suggestions out there, but it still means much higher costs, more cleaning work afterwards, and less fun compared to regular parties. Personally I think given our climate crisis we as the Western world have to change our ways.
