Bannerlord Tactics: Win battles with a weak army against VLANDIA using TACTICS

- Welcome back future Khans, Emperors, Jarls and Sultans of Calradia! We're continuing to show our late-game campaign including huge battles, and winning(most) of these battles by deploying advanced tactics to overcome superior enemy forces. Our entire channel is dedicated to helping players improve their field command and if that's your desire, or just want to see huge, dramatic battles, you've come to the right place.

This series, a side-branch of my late-game campaign, demonstrates how an army of mediocre and weak troops can take on, clash against and even WIN battles against the most powerful armies in Bannerlord, using tactics. This series is designed to help players further their field command to the point where they will fluidly move troops depending on situations, and win battles like a Legend.
Please comment, like and subscribe if you're interested in more of my ultra-late-game campaign, that may end up ending in utter despair, but that's the challenge of it. Any challenge where success is assured is no challenge at all.
My campaign is an extremely late-game campaign where I am resolved to give no peace to these scum Kingdoms attacking me - seven of the eight have been at war for years, with only Sturgia at a neutral stance. My family of warriors is now large though and with what remaining strength and valor we can must, we stand against the map of Calradia.

I use four mods:
Lord Retinue Uptier(Makes the enemy forces stronger, much less peasants and lower ranked troops)

Improved AI Troops(Also makes enemy lords and their armies tougher by giving them a higher daily xp rate. This means you'll routinely face armies with HUGE numbers of the highest tier units, sometimes four or five times the normal amount in vanilla Bannerlord): www.nexusmods....
Death for all: This mod allows you to set the rate at which nobles die more often. I want both a harder challenging late-game but also a more realistic game. If you're cut down with a massive aserai two-handed axe, you shouldn't just be injured 99.9% of the time. It's a very customizable mod so you can just a little more death or set the death rate so high you get several deaths every battle. The number I often like is '10', some deaths but not a massacre of nobles...

I also use the Dismemberment Plus Mod: It's highly customizable and works seamlessly with the new beta(and versions back to 1.28). I thoroughly recommend it if you enjoy carnage!:

I've also used Realistic Battle Mod in the past and highly recommend it for Ai and battle realism BUT I find the pace too slow for my taste and the AI is actually rather predictable after a half dozen battles. Still I wanted to put a plug in for it here, it's a GREAT mod and highly configurable. www.nexusmods....
Much of the music and inspiration for this and other videos in the channel are inspired by Epic History TV - probably THE best channel on youtube(and the internet for that matter) covering the Napoleonic wars. A sentence that would kill a medieval peasant
Great video! This one is one of the clearer concise videos i've seen, maybe because its not so chaotic as the other ones. I would highlight and recommend this one as an instructional video, as its an easy to follow battle and it has almost everything. Scouting the terrain, how to slow down a cavalry charge then counterpunch, when/where/how to pull back, distractionary square, flanking with archers, kiting, harrassing with with cavalry and setting up the killing blow - checkmate. Sum summarum i think it shows Initiative very well, most of all that its important to know when you have lost initiative, and when you have regained it and have to push to maintain it. Excellent video sir, and very entertaining.

@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions this battle kind of reminds me of a chessgame where you start as Black then counterattack and have various tactical traps. Maybe one of the more modern openings with a fianchttoed bishop etc
@@tolveor There are certainly parallels between chess and bannerlord, initiative for example, realistically there are actually more advantages in Bannerlord when YOU are attacked, rather attacking, which is generally the opposite of real life...

WOW, I love these videos, I could see in this one, my own problems, usually I hold good the first engage with the cav, and then on the second, when the enemy main infantry reach my hold lines is when I lose the battle, I guess what I have todo, when I see that would happen, I should try to retreat, really good videos, thank you

Great video. Vlandia always gives me a hard time with how many crossbowmen they bring to any given fight.
Kite 'em when you can, ridge them when you can't and attack strongly with melee when neither options are available to you!
Personally their heavy cav is a much bigger problem. Crossbowmen a lot of the time get separated from their main forces and you can make a quick cav raid on them to wipe a good chunk. Heavy cav is just nasty and hard to pin down, especially with RBM where shooting it to death is much harder.
That initial cav trap was really good.
@@zoolimar9989 I've been focusing on how to corner, slow and destroy cav ever since I was mauled in a huge battle against Vlandia like a year ago(real time). Now I'm pretty confident that unless it's RBM, we can handle 'em.
Are you enacting Royal guards? I’m level 35 with all the perks that’s favorable to increase party size amongst the skills, 288 steward, 255 leadership and I own 5 towns (+20) but my max troops count is 376 only.
Yep I chose as many different policies as possible to increase the main army size including Royal guard.
How do you get the flag markers for troop positions to be those bright circles instead? Seems a lot easier to use, the flags have a tendency to blend in with grass

Very nice, I really enjoy RTS games, but I haven't used even 80% of your strategies, very nice indeed.

Glad you came up with this, i think many new Players and maybe some Veterans run into huge problems with massiv Cav and range Troops vs Vlandia.
They tend to be better and better and better with Lords by there side while they have 0-50 Crossbowskill if not lower. When i was a noob, i faced heavy losses vs Sharpshooter even if i played with the same amount and skilled Crossbow so they are on the same Page, but they where always better then mine, that was so frustrating.
Hoping this helps players out there deal with those devastating Bannerknight charges, and also continue to emphasize those line of sight advantages, whenever possible!
Tactical, this was awesome! Loved it! I've been trying those diagonal formations with my archers for flanking as you suggest :D BTW, I was wondering if you have any videos about building up your heir. I've never actually played a campaign that long so I was wondering if you get to adjust height, weight, stats, once you retire your main and your heir takes his place. Thanks again for these great vids! Love the background music as well, great touch!
You don't get to adjust his stats I.e his attribute points so use those wisely as he ages but the focus points of any skill you can change at the tournament master as for height and weight even looks all of this can be changed I can't remember what button it is but there's a way to change it all so ironically you can be a short fat guy one year or one bottle and a tall skinny guy for the next. Kind of strange you can change your whole appearance but you can't change their skill set.
@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions thanks mate, greatly appreciate it. You should also be able to rename companions, not just family members. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to change height so I went for Svana hoping her genetics would bring forth tall offspring hehe 😅

@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions It actually makes tournaments more difficult. I struggle when having to fight Nozon, so little that he dodges my strikes 😌😓
@@ferg4486 lol, I got beat by my son once in a tournament, so I dis-robed him, took off all his armor and sent him on a campaign where he died(no I'm just kidding, but it would be a medieval thing here LOL)
