  • "Ecological ideas are not enough, we need an ecological identity, ecological self."
"Underlying the environmental crisis is a crisis of consciousness or spirituality, and that is the illusion of separation between ourselves and the natural world." Arne Naess (quoted at 5.00 min in the video.)
"The fact of this can be clearly demonstrated try holding your breath for 5 minutes while you think about it". John Seed (5.27 min)
John Seed is an Australian activist and community builder. With Arne Naess, Joanna Macy and Pat Fleming, he wrote the environmental classic book Thinking like a Mountain and pioneered the ‘Council of All Beings’ - a facilitated ritual giving voice to all in the more-than-human world. His workshops take, in John's words, “a form which permits us to experience consciously both the pain and the power of our interconnectedness with all life.”
In this introduction, John generously empowers us to facilitate this process for ourselves, noting that when the intention is there to reveal the truth that we are not separate from nature, then the process will work.
Filmed in the village of Warburton, Melbourne in 2013, yet in John's words again, "it seems 2023 to me"...
