Navajo Historian, Wally Brown, teaches about the yucca plant and what it was used for traditionally. To some it may appear to be a useless plant but the Diné could use it.
Steve irwin did a show once where he showed that by grabbing the sharp tip of the leaf and snapping it off it would come away from the plant with fibers and was used for moccasin repair and building. You got the sharp needle and thread ready to go, just wind it up and put it in the kit with the other dozen moccasins you aren't wearing at the moment. Not once during that show did he goof on the ozzy doofus he usually played for the camera, I was genuinely touched that he knew so much of a foreign land's first nations inhabitants. RIP Steve.
The point I grabbed from this is that you can punish a child. You can announce the punishment of the child. But sometimes you need to take a walk with the child and understand where they were coming from at the time before punishing them. What a wonderful concept. Especially if you have access to yucca plants lol

Mine favored a store bought wooden dowel maybe three feet worth. One time my sister discovered it behind the fridge, I was horrified to lay eyes upon it after she beckoned me over there to show it to me, she then hid it in another spot which horrified me even more, but it only delayed things a bit and we got an extra one for being so clever with it too. Mom was laughing while she wailed on us that time notably. Soon enough we came to understand the issue was to avoid making her so mad in the first place and that worked out a lot better.
Maori do the same with our flax (Harakeke). We tell the plant what it is going to be used for (making ropes, bags, clothing and punishment lol) and we give thanks, leaving the inner 3-5 leaves..we harvest the outer leaves 😊

Grandma: "Go cut me a switch." You better bring back a nice one, because if she has to go cut it herself, it'll be a thick one, and she'll make sure you feel it.
This is a relief to hear about the punishment aspect of the yucca. A big yucca 🪴fell over suddenly in a Home Depot and knocked me right in the head. It still lives on our patio to this day, that big, tricky s.o.b. and is huge now.

What medical ailments was the yucca used for ?
Amazing respect for nature
Imagine if the plant spoke back, "Um... I'd rather you didn't. Okay? Thanks."
Lol
😅😅😅😅😅
Bueno, hay otras alternativas (peine + agua).

I think maybe sometimes it does speak back.
Thank you. I like the story of the parent cooling down when going to harvest.

My mom used to make us go cut our own willow switches. They better be good ones too.

Can you describe the procedure for using the root for washing?
I have the same question.
you take out the roots from the ground clean of the dirt and put the roots in some water shake it and you'll see suds in the water

Beautiful knowledge
The Yucca flower is edible .To some it has a bitter taste.Yucca flowers and scrambled eggs
If you use just the petals and remove the middle parts that will take away the bitter parts. Its delicious and medicinal.
