  • This is part one of our underfloor heating basics series
Today we talk about and answer a commonly asked and misunderstood question regarding the differences between underfloor heating zones and circuits
Please subscribe and hit that bell icon so you don't miss future content and next week we will be talking about UFH pipe and how to accurately calculate how much pipe you need
If you have any questions about underfloor heating then please let me know in the comments section and I will be happy to answer them for you

I have an open plan house that includes a conservatory. Would you suggest keeping the conservatory on it’s own zone as the temperature of that area would vary based on outdoor temperature although the space is open plan?

Hi Craig, I've just started an entry level position designing underfloor heating. Your videos have been very useful to grasp the basics and I look forward to seeing more of your videos in the future. Very concise and informative explanations and I wish you all the best as your channel grows.

Thanks Dylan, lots to learn at the beginning but once you understand the rules then it becomes easier, getting fast at CAD is a little more challenging ;-)

@Ronan Dominick Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site through google and I'm in the hacking process now.
Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.

Great video, I have two questions.
    1. Can you have some areas/rooms on open circuit, so they come on when any zone is calling for heat, ie a central hallway on open circuit?
    2. Can you pipe an UFH circuit to a ground floor bathroom towel rail and if so, would you have it on its own circuit or part of a room floor loop?

      Hi Dan,
      1. Yes this is possible and done often, just remember your loosing the ability to control these circuits, you can always change this later
      2. If you need to run a towel rail off the UFH manifold then remember it will only get as hot as the UFH flow temp so i would consider oversizing it or run it off a rad circuit if possible

Hi Craig, just wondering what software you use to design loops and create the drawings?
